❄️❄️ In Texas, like many other states, we're preparing for an artic blast! ❄️❄️

If you lose power, it's important to not feed your reptile until the power is restored and the enclosure is heated to the appropriate temperature. Here's why:

🦎Digestion requires energy: The process of digestion requires energy, which is produced by the body through metabolism. If the body's internal temperature is too low, metabolism slows down and the process of digestion is impaired.

🦎 Cold temperatures can cause gastrointestinal stasis which is a slowing or stopping of the digestive process. If your reptile's digestive system slows down or stops, the food they have eaten can rot and cause serious health problems.

🦎 Food can spoil: If the power is out for an extended period of time, the food in your reptile's enclosure may spoil, which can also cause health problems if it is consumed.

It's important to monitor the temperature of the enclosure and wait until it is at the appropriate level before offering food to your reptile. If you are unsure of the appropriate temperature range for your reptile, you can consult a veterinarian or refer to reputable care guides.

⚠️ 📢 Attention bearded dragon owners! 📢⚠️

Are you noticing changes in your reptile's behavior lately? It could be that they are entering brumation season.

Brumation is like hibernation for reptiles, and it typically occurs in the colder months of the year. During this time, bearded dragons may become less active and eat less, and may even sleep for longer periods of time.

While it can be alarming to see your bearded dragon exhibiting these changes, it is completely normal and natural for them to go through brumation. In fact, it is an important part of their overall health and well-being.

So if you notice your bearded dragon slowing down, don't panic! Just make sure to provide them with a warm and comfortable environment, and reduce their feeding schedule if necessary. They will emerge from brumation in no time, ready to take on the world again.
