Early morning and evening are the best time for the pets! Use caution and stick to grassy areas and shaded areas during mid-morning and late afternoon. Avoid taking pets out between noon and 5pm as the ground is too hot.

DID YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD NOT POUR COLD WATER ON AN OVERHEATED DOG OR PUT A WET TOWEL ON THEIR BACK ‼️
HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO…

Animal lovers, never make the mistake of throwing cold water on an overheated dog or putting a wet towel on his back. You will see the opposite effect.

Due to the cold, the veins contract and due to the high temperature (above 42 degrees), the proteins in the blood clot, which makes the blood thick and viscous.
Due to the combination of the two, the heart can no longer get the blood and the organs fail one by one due to lack of oxygen.

The result is a very slow but very painful death.
If you try to help an overheated dog in this way, he will still die.

First give lukewarm water to drink, then cool the soles of the feet and chest/lower abdomen with a damp towel.
Then put the dog in the shade on a damp towel!!

Sharing is highly desirable because again and again we see images of overheated dogs getting out of a car with water poured on their backs ❎

🍂Fall Pet Safety Tips 🍂
Follow these tips to keep your pets safe during this fall season and share with other pet owners!
🐾 Keep School Supplies Out of Paws’ Reach - School supplies might be out around your house since school is back in session. Although these items are considered low toxicity to pets, gastrointestinal upset and blockages can occur if ingested.
🐾 Beware of Rodenticides and Cold Weather Poisons - The use of rat and mouse poisons increases in the fall as rodents seek shelter from the cooler temperatures by attempting to move indoors. Rodenticides are highly toxic (and sometimes very appealing) to pets, and if ingested, the results could be fatal.
🐾 Watch Out for Wildlife - During the Autumn season, snakes prepare for hibernation, increasing the possibility of bites to pets who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pet parents should be aware of the different types of snakes.
🐾 Steer Clear of Mushrooms - While 99% of mushrooms have little or no toxicity, the 1% that are highly toxic can cause life-threatening problems in pets. The best way to prevent pets from ingesting these poisonous plants is to keep them away from areas where any mushrooms are growing.

*If you suspect your pet may have ingested something toxic or has been bitten by a snake, please contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 immediately*

PET PEEPS: We are deep in the heart of kissing bug season! I’ve seen at least 6 already this summer! Here’s a pic of the bug that I saw TODAY!
They are DEADLY to your pets!

Chagas disease is caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi (kissing bug) and it infects more than 13 million dogs in the U.S. T. cruzi is spread by triatomine bugs, also known as kissing bugs. They are endemic in the southern U.S., Latin, and South America. Symptoms include:

Depression or lethargy
Fever
Lack of appetite
Seizures
Weakness or difficulty walking
Increased heart rate
Diarrhea
Anemia
Swollen lymph nodes, liver, or spleen
HAVE DOGS AND CATS TESTED FOR CHAGAS

If you are concerned that your dogs are exposed to kissing bugs, contact your veterinarian and have your dog tested. An Indirect Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA) test—is used to analyze your pet’s blood for antibodies against the parasite.
