I’m Charlie. I’m a peaceful sort of guy that likes almost everyone I meet. I’ve found in the 6 years of my life that you’ll get more toys and kisses with licks and smiles than with frowns and growls. And I’m sticking by that. I’m hoping to find a home real soon. That’s one thing I’d love to have someday.

Charlie has been at our shelter for nearly a month now. He’s a chill dog who’s been to dog playgroups and made some new friends. Yesterday Charlie had entropion surgery and is under observation in our medical office. Charlie would love a comfy couch or bed to snooze on while he recovers.

Sweets was found as a stray with an injury to her leg. There is a surgical consult for our veterinarian to evaluate her leg for amputation. Just like her name, she is as sweet as can be. Sweets is needing rescue placement for additional medical treatment and to give her a comfortable place to rest while she recovers.

Vet Exam 6/30: Severe swelling of left hindlimb and non weight bearing. Purulent discharge and wound on medial aspect of stifle. Soft swelling of left side of face.

Radiographs: fractured left femoral head and possibly fractured left pelvis. On lateral stifle joint appears to be further apart than normal.

Sx consult for amp of left hindlimb

Gave 0.4ml convenia SQ.

Gave carprofen SQ.

Alfredo was found as a stray then brought to our shelter. Alfredo is an active dog who loves to run and snack on treats. Alfredo shows high reactivity to dogs in the shelter in showed offensive aggression to helper dogs during his playgroup assessment.

Field Observation 6/21: Dog is a people dog, not a dog dog. After getting him back to the shelter he started showing aggressive behavior with the dogs inside the shelter. He will square up to a kennel and not back down, he will go/chase after another dog that goes by his kennel. Good news is that he is very food motivated!!!

Volunteer Observation 6/24: High Energy; Leash Puller;Pottied Immediately; Reactive (Dogs);Disinterested in Pets/Cuddles;

Playgroup 7/1: PG3- Brought out to catchpen, helpers walked over to greet before helpers made it to the front of catchepn, Alfredo was lunging and charging at the fence and biting down, attempted to bite when helpers got near, runner attempted to pull him back but he continue to pull forwards, sent back to kennel to only have helpers in yard. Attempted to place muzzle (4) in the kennel but pet started biting my arms to removed him from kennel, very barrier reactive when passing by other dogs attempting to fence fight, pet will redirect, once away from all the other dogs, placed muzzle (4) and long line, allowed into yard and pet fought with muzzle, we would help stop him from fighting, sniffed female helper but assertive with male hoovering over his back, when taking him attempting to lung for male helper. Needs muzzle conditioning

Meet Pancho, a canine gentleman at DAS. He shows his great manners when gently taking treats at the shelter. He's been observed to be tolerant around other dogs during his stay here, exhibiting a patient and calm demeanor. Pancho prefers a gentle and easygoing style of play at our shelter.

During Pancho’s neuter yesterday, our medical staff noted that he has a fractured leg. Pacho is needing rescue placement to provide him with additional medical care.

Exam Vet 7/1: evident chronic fracture of the femoral neck with significant remodeling. suspect was a physeal femoral physeal fracture.

Sitting beside bed wagging tail. Ran to back when I opened kennel and went inside. Coaxed Maddy back to the front of the kenn and lowered kennel divider. Maddy continues to wag tail at the back of the kennel but would inch towards me when I called to he Over time she came close enough and I was able to pet her.

Athena has been a resident here at DAS for 2 months now. She been to dog playgroups and shown volunteers what a sweet girl she is. About 2 weeks ago, Athena gave birth to 8 puppies. So now she spends her days working hard as a momma dog. Athena has spent a long time here at our shelter and is looking for a rescue or foster who can give a comfortable place to rest and raise her puppies.

Very barrier reactive in the catch pen. Constant barking and snapping at the dogs in the yard and not disruptable with the tools. Continued barking at the dogs even when distanced themselves from the the catch pen. Placed on a muzzle before letting into the yard. He was mostly focused on trying to get the muzzle off when in the yard . When the dogs in the yard came up to greet him he would stiffen up and charge towards them. He didn't respond to steering tools and we had to grab his leash when he would charge at the other dogs.

Meet Django, He came into our care as a confiscate on 4/22 from the community; since being here, Dj has become a staff favorite since it looks like he is constantly smiling or hearing a hilarious joke.

What a charmer! Look at this face! No, really look at this face! Those eyes, that smile, that fuzzy nose. Who couldn’t snuggle with that face? …And that tail will wag for days when you walk in. Django is looking for you, and it looks like this endearing fella found you! He is charming and yet silly to be around. And who wouldn’t want to spend time with this baby? He is friendly, loyal, a bit goofy at times and oh yes, a gentleman too!! So, stop thinking about it, get in your car, pack up your heart and come get Django so you can begin your life together. This puppy pair came to our shelter after their owner was arrested. Sasha has demodex mange causing hairloss across her body. This pair will be looking for placement if the are not reclaimed once their hold period ends.

Lyka was found as a stray then brought to our shelter. She was initially timid in the kennel but has warmed up over time. When outside she is a confident and curious girl. Lyka is showing some frustration from being in a kennel and will need placement.

SHELTER OBSERVATION
On 6/29/23
On rounds today he was howling and hard barking. Seems to be very frustrated in kennel and with barrier.
On 6/25/23
Barking and reluctant to approach in kennel. Used treats to get her to come to me then lowered kennel divider. Lyka sniffed my hand when I opened the door and was easy to leash. Non reactive walking past kennels to yard. Once outside she was curious and explored the yard. She would occasionally jump on me for attention. Easy to leash and return to kennel.
