You may be celebrating this July 4th weekend, but your pets should not! Loud noises, fireworks and other party shenanigans are scary events for our beloved furry friends.

Please keep your animals inside, sheltered from the noise and chaos! Some pets may even need calming treats or vet-prescribed medications to ease their anxiety.

Be safe and take care of your animals- and yourself! 💜

I first want to say how much I LOVE you guys and I am extraordinarily grateful for the community of cat lovers I’ve grown to know in-person and online since 2021. Cat rescue is my passion project and if I could do this full time, I would. I’m making this post to let everyone know that I see your calls, emails, and DMs and wish I could do more to help at the moment, but my hands have been tied. My life has been beyond hectic. If you know me, you know that I plan everything around this cat rescue and helping others. It has been very hard for me to say “no” but I have had literally zero spare time outside of work and family life.

Outside of Nat’s Cats I work a regular job most days of the week, and juggle my husband’s very unpredictable work schedule while caring for my son with cystic fibrosis. I started a new job last month and on top of that, my family has been in the process of moving from a suburb back into Dallas. My projects in cat rescue typically take me well over 20+ hours a week between planning, set up, driving time, trapping, time at the vet, recovery time at home, and release. When we have foster cats the work is 24/7. My personal life has been taking up 150% of my time and energy recently I just wanted to be transparent about that.

I foresee my hectic schedule calming down soon, and TNR will recommence. In the time between now and then I will continue to network, share helpful information, and provide as much support as I can to those needing it. Thank you all for being understanding and I can’t wait to set those traps again soon. 🥹 🪤 💜

Hundreds of thousands of people have traveled to Dallas, TX to see the solar eclipse today in the path of totality 🌞🕶️ Remember to stay safe when gazing at the sun by wearing protective eye glasses! The roads in Dallas will be filled and traffic is expected to be heavy- please use caution while driving!

💜While our furry friends are unlikely to experience anything dangerous during the eclipse, it’s a good idea to keep them indoors. Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful natural phenomena 💜

Hi new friends, my name is Sebastian. I am currently in a foster home but I am available for adoption! If you want to adopt me, please call 219-872-4499. But first, a little bit of information about me...

I'm sure you can see that I am overweight, weighing in at 33.5 pounds and I need help to get down to a healthy weight in a healthy way. Please don't say negative things about my previous owners; let's keep the focus on helping me to find the next chapter in my life.

So, you should know that I am the world's nicest boy. The humans will tell you how sweet I am and how much they enjoy their time with me. I LOVE chin scratchies and I will purr the entire time you are petting me. I also love catnip toys! The humans make sure I have time out of my kennel to exercise a little bit and chase after them.

As far as the type of home I need, the super smart vet people at MHS believe it will take over a year to get me to an ideal weight safely, so I will need someone committed that will stick to a strict diet plan and weight re-checks. It will be best for me to have weekly re-checks until we have figured out and established a weight loss rate. My MHS friends will be there to help guide you in how to help me!

A relatively calm home environment would be nice for me. I have lived with big dog friends before but they were a bit too rough with me; if you have dogs, or other furry friends or kiddos for that matter, I would really prefer it if they were chill and cool like I am. I'm an easy-going guy!

I have such an endearing personality. Everyone who has met me was obsessed immediately. If I had a nickel for every time I was told I was "such a good boy," I would have a whole lotta nickels! I am about five years old and I'm neutered. Love, Sebastian.

🐾 Help these kittens get spayed and neutered! 🐾

Our four lucky kittens from the North Texas Irish Festival are going to their furever homes this week! 🍀 But they’re in need of a little extra TLC before they can officially join their new families. 🏡 They’ve been below weight and now are eagerly awaiting their spay/neuter surgeries tomorrow at the vet!

1am Saturday morning I took some bad bites and scratches from a spooked cat in the rescue. 15 hours later, after a long and exciting day representing Nats Cats at the North Texas Irish Festival, I’m in the hospital. 😂

I laugh because- how else do you end an insane week? With a hospital stay of course 😂 I’m unfortunately being admitted, my tendon is deeply infected and they are worried about a blood infection. Tomorrow morning when tests come back I will meet with a hand surgeon to decide if I need to continue IV antibiotics or if I need hand surgery to flush out the infection. I have worked with cats for years and years and have never had anything like this happen!

And see. If I didn’t listen to my team, I would have worked a 12 hour day at the festival, gone to my shift afterwards, and returned tomorrow to my booth at 10am. So thank you to everyone who forced me to go to the ER today.

I immensely appreciate EVERYONE who helped make this weekend a success- even if we only attended one day at the North Texas Irish Festival. In one day alone we found homes for FOUR kittens, educated the crowds about TNR, and met so many wonderful folks who also love animals. I’ll take the wins and I can’t wait to share more photos from the event!

With this all being said, I think my body has been pushed past its limits the last few weeks. Between trapping and running around for our last big TNR event, preparing for this festival, working my “non rescue” job and keeping up with a toddler... Ya girl needs a little break and TLC. ☘️🐈‍⬛💜

A huge thank you to DFW's feral cat caretaker community that made yesterday's free feral fix day here at TCAP a massive success!😻

Your hard work helped us provide 249 free spays/neuters to feral cats across 5 TCAP clinics in just one day alone.

Thank you to all who participated and those who support our cause to improve animal welfare in North Texas.

Do you have some gently used laundry laying around? 😼 Cats don’t mind a stain or two on a comfy blanket or towel! Nat’s Cats is in great need of donated towels, old bedding, and blankets to cover our TNR cages.

We try to wash and reuse what we can, but when it comes to feral cats, things get stinky and gross pretty fast. We have nearly exhausted our supply in the “cat bin” 😿

If you have some items to donate, DM or email us! Meow!

Folks commonly mistake cats as nocturnal creatures when they in fact are crepuscular! This means their most active hours of the day are during dawn 🌞 and dusk 🌅 This information is especially useful when we plan TNR trips. It doesn’t make much sense for us to scope an area for cats at 10am, or for us to leave a trap set up at 10pm. A cat's natural instinct must be used in our favor, and that’s why we catch the most kitties near sunrise or sunset! 🙀

“🎉 Happy New Year from Nats Cats TNR & Rescue! 🐾✨ Grateful for a purrfect year of TNR success and adoptions, thanks to YOUR support! 🙏🏼

This year has been full of ups and downs. Some weeks I was able to accomplish multiple trapping jobs, and other weeks I couldn’t do one. I’ve changed jobs, had cars break down, had $0 in the cat-fund account, raised a toddler with special needs, and oh so much more. Despite the difficulties in my personal AND feline life, I am very proud of everything Nat’s Cats accomplished in 2023. We have:

🐱TNR’d 230 cats
🐈 Found homes for 37 kitties
⭐️ Attended two cat-expos
💕Helped so many people in the DFW community

Here’s to spaying/neutering more, finding loving homes, and fundraising for even more feline joy in 2024. I could not have done it without the help and support of so many! 🐱💙 Cheers to a paw-some new year! ”

The Dallas cat rescue community lost a valuable hero this week. Amanda Smith has been serving our community and cats for over 15 years and has saved countless lives. While transporting cats this week, she was involved in a devastating collision with a semi truck on Monday, November 13. She suffered traumatic injuries including brain bleeding, and after days of her body slowly shutting down, her family decided to lay her to rest.

I was lucky enough to have known Amanda, as she lived close by me and helped me with cat transportation. My heart hurts for her family and friends during this time. Please consider sharing or contributing to her GoFundMe, which I am linking below and in our bio. Rest in peace Amanda 🙏💜

(Re)introducing Bert, the lovable feline whose journey tugs at the heart. Rescued by Nat's Cats last year, his charm quickly found him a home. But life took an unexpected turn when, just months later, his family tearfully reached out, unable to keep him due to a cross-country move.

With only days to spare, a kind woman, balancing the responsibilities of a father in a nursing home, stepped in. Bert became a cherished companion to her father, turning a fleeting arrangement into a heartfelt connection. Now, on this emotional quest for his forever home, Bert, though healthy, grapples with asthma and tooth reabsorption, requiring lifelong care.

Navigating this journey with Bert, we acknowledge potential barriers, as asthma medication costs can reach $50 or more monthly. Yet, we hold onto hope, knowing the perfect family, ready to embrace Bert's unique needs, is out there. This outgoing and friendly soul, harmonious with both cats and even a rabbit, is a charming companion set to steal your heart.

If you feel that Bert could be the missing piece in your family, don't hesitate. Fill out an adoption application on our website for a meet and greet, and let's write the final chapter of Bert's story—a tale of resilience, love, and the family he's patiently been waiting for. 💜🤞🏻
