WE ARE HIRING!
FurrBabies Pet Services is looking for a professional pet sitter. We need someone who is reliable and loves animals. Our pet sitters and dog walkers must be 18 years or older. We offer services in the following areas: Argyle, Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Lantana, Highland Village, and Terracina.
This is a part-time or seasonal position. The typical work schedule may include weekdays and weekends; morning, midday, early evening, and evening visits with breaks in between. The busiest work periods are holidays, spring break, and summer.
Job Qualifications:
* Live within or near one of our service areas.
* Own a reliable, insured vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license. Able to transport pets in your vehicle in an emergency.
* Have experience with animals (not necessarily in pet sitting). Must be able to feed, walk, medicate, and observe behavior.
* Trainable, willing to learn more about pets, and attend ongoing training.
* Physically fit and able to handle emergency situations with a calm, cool head. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
* Comfortable cleaning up accidents and handling dogs that have very little obedience training, may pull on the leash, etc.
* Have good smartphone/computer skills to use pet sitting app and communicate with clients.
* Able to communicate well with clients and our office both verbally and in writing.
* Willing to commit to specific time blocks of availability on a consistent basis and available to work during busy periods.
* Extremely reliable and dedicated. Calling out of work is only acceptable in emergency situations.
* Willing to work in any type of weather.
* Have superb organizational skills, able to follow written instruction, act professionally, and be detail-oriented. Have good time management skills.
* Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a criminal background check.

Keeping your pet safe during New Year's Eve

Fireworks can be a nightmare for pets on New Year's Eve. All of the noise and commotion that we may enjoy can be terrifying for our 4-legged friends.

The safest thing to do is keep your animals inside so they don't run away when the loud noises start up.

If they have to be outside, make sure to put a collar and tag on them, keep them fenced in, or use a leash if you’re out and about with them.

Check your pet's chip and ID tag for updated information in case they get away from you. Be sure you update your current phone number.
Make a safe space for them to hide inside and give them toys or treats to keep them busy.
Turn up some ambient noise like the TV or radio to help drown out the fireworks.
Anxiety vests or thunder shirts are good options for many dogs and cats. If you don't have one, try wrapping your pet in a towel and holding them close.
When in doubt, consult the experts. Your veterinarian and local pet supply stores have a variety of remedies to soothe your pet's nerves and set your mind at ease as well.
