Midnight is a playful love bug 9 months old (as of 06/02//24) and 50lbs lbs. He was rescued from a crowded shelter where he was overlooked and is now safe in foster care.

Midnight does great with other dogs but would do just fine as an only pet. He is neutered, vaccinated, on heartworm prevention, and microchipped. Midnight loves to snuggle and lay in your lap to catch a nap. He also loves playing with his toys and other dogs. Midnight loves attention and being with people. Midnight is crate and housed trained. It is so hard to believe Jinsook has not been swooped up for adoption! She is now one of our Diamond Dogs, which are the pets we highlight as the Diamond in the Ruff seeking their forever home. Her adoption fee has been reduced to $125.

Jinsook (aka Jinny) is a 43 lbs. and 13 years old. She was surrendered to a shelter by her owner. She's now living the good life in foster care while she waits for her new family. Jinny is living with 3 big dogs (male and female) and gets along well with all of them.

Don't let her age fool you; Jinny has some pep in her step and is still quite playful! She enjoys her morning walks, with or without other doggies, and is good on the leash. Jinny is a sweet, affectionate lady who enjoys being petted. She is house and crate trained and has free run of the house when her foster mom is away from home. She does not get on the furniture (although she is allowed to do so and is capable of jumping on the couch).

Jinny would do best in a home without small children or cats.

Hi! I'm Dan! I'm an approximately 5 year old, male, German Shephard mix who weighs about 65 lbs. I was found off Eva Plance in Rockwall on 06/15/2024 with a friend and sadly never reclaimed. I am 100% a water baby! I should have been born a dog-fish because I love being in the pool. I'd love to find a new home just in time for the warm summer months so I can splish-splash! I walk well on a leash and appear to be crate trained. RAC is confident that I will be house trained quickly once I am adopted. I came in with a friend but a meet and greet is encouraged if you have another dog in the home. I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, and basic boosters. I did test heartworm positive but Thanks to Rockwall PAWS, I will be able to receive treatment at little to no cost to my adopters. Sloane is a gentle and affectionate girl who greets everyone she meets with lots of love. She's great with kids ages 4 and older and is very gentle while they play with her. She enjoys playing tug and fetch, especially if the toy squeaks! She makes an excellent walking partner, but also enjoys a peaceful day of lounging between her morning and evening walks.

Sloane is a 7-year-old, female, Dutch Shephard mix weighing approximately 60lbs. She is spayed, current on rabies vaccination and basic boosters, microchipped and heartworm negative!

**SENIOR SPOTLIGHT**

Meet Tender!

Tender's previous family left her in a shelter when he couldn’t take care of her anymore. She didn't know why or what what she did because they were family since she was a puppy. Tender was confused and scared. Thankfully one of our fosters took her in and hopefully would find a family that would love her forever.
Tender is extremely human focused and very affectionate. She is pure love and affection with all people and is ready to find her fur-ever home!
Tender is a seasoned companion with a heart full of love and wisdom.
Tender has the calmest temperament. Her favorite thing of all is to be your best friend. This girl loves listening to music, belly rubs, scrambled eggs, and long slow walks. This gentle soul has mastered the art of taking treats with gentle grace and walks like a dream on a leash. While Tender prefers the company of people over dogs, her affectionate nature makes her an ideal friend.
Tender needs to be an only dog and no cats, but she adores her humans!

Bali is a 3 year old Pure Bred CKC Toy Poodle that has beautiful white fur and soft brown eyes that weighs 14 pounds. His adoption fee is $500.

He is a sweet boy that takes a little time to warm up and trust new people but then he is the sweetest little cuddle bug.

Bali should not be in a home with young children because he is not used to the energy.

Bali is smart and catches on to routines easily and finds comfort in them.

He is crate and house trained, walks on a leash, and does well in the car.

He is good with other dogs, cats and older children.

The Three's Company crew was born as an unexpected litter. The family had mom spayed and reached out to LHS for assistance rehoming the remaining puppies. They are all very well-socialized and ready to start leaving the roommate situation and find a place of their own. Could this be you?

Harley is a German Shepherd/Belgian Shepherd/Malinois mix.

Harley was outside a dog park in October 2023. A kind citizen took her in and tried to find her owners, but no one ever surfaced. She is now in the LHS foster program in hopes of finding her a forever home to call her own.

When Harley was found she was severely underweight and sick. She has been nursed back to health and is now a healthy, sweet, loving girl who is house-trained and knows basic commands. She is also fully crate-trained and food-motivated, making her easy to train. She does love to play and would do best in a home where the other resident pet is up for a play date, wrestling, and a good game of chase. She would also do ok in a home as an only pet, as well. She is great with children of all shapes and sizes.

Amethyst is a 7-week-old puppy who arrived at LHS as a 3-week-old baby without her mom. She loves to be petted, especially belly rubs, and is very affectionate. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be.

Amethyst is available for adoption meet and greets. Amethyst is a mixed Australian Shepherd.

This puppy has not yet had two sets of shots and would not be appropriate for a home without a private potty-training space at this time. Public spaces put under-vaccinated puppies at high risk for severe or life-threatening illnesses.

Liberty is a Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie.

DOB January 11th 2013
Weight - 6 1/2 lbs

Liberty was surrendered to us due to his owner's ailing health. He's looking for a home where he will get lots of attention and can be the affectionate lap dog he's always been. He's house and crate trained, and good with kids, cats, and other dogs. As expected with his breed and age, Liberty is fragile and should not be with kids or dogs who play rough.

Liberty can no longer take stairs and prefers carpets and rugs when possible. He does have a heart murmur and needs to take heart medication daily. He will come with this medication which includes a 5-month supply of Vetmedin, 10-month supply of Enalapril, and an almost 3-year supply of Lasix. The medication costs $24 a month and LHS will be able to provide the medication at cost for the adopter to purchase once the supply from LHS is exhausted.

Meet beautiful Minnie Mouse!

She is the belle of the ball but remains without a partner for long walks and someone’s eyes to stare into and love. She is an absolutely stunning girl that is easy to love. As you can see, she thinks she is a lapdog. Her tail goes a mile a minute when someone pays attention to her. Being surrendered to the shelter where she was a staff and volunteer favorite did not change her sweet disposition but she was so happy to be rescued and is now looking for her fairy tale ending in her foster home.

They never asked to be in the situation humans put them in and they are just begging for a shred of comfort, that’s why we fight for every last one of them.

The only thing Minnie wants is a home - a forever home - where she'll be loved and truly considered part of the family. She's been unlucky in love in the past, but she doesn't let it stop her from excitedly greeting and loving every new person who comes her way. To Minnie, a stranger is just a friend she hasn't met yet - and friends provide attention and sometimes even yummy treats!

Minnie adores getting attention, especially shoulder massages and gentle back scratches. She knows how to sit and waits very patiently for treats when you reward her and takes them very gently. She would love to join you on some weekend hikes no matter the weather - there are so many amazing things to see and sniff and explore with a friend!

Minnie is a spayed female Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog mix with the most beautiful white soft silky fur with adorable brown spots the colors of molasses and honey, soulful eyes and adorable tipped ears.

She weighs 74 pounds and is a two years old.

Owning a pet can be a thrilling adventure for children! Having a furry companion fosters emotional connections, and caring for them teaches kids valuable lessons in responsibility.

Before embarking on the search for a new pet, families should consider:

• Do you have the time to dedicate to a pet not only seasonally, but year-round and for years to come?
• Are you financially prepared to cover the costs associated with pet ownership, including veterinary care and food?

If YES, summer is an ideal time to welcome a new furry member into the family. The extra time at home allows for a smoother adjustment period and facilitates the establishment of routines. Since it can take pets some time to acclimate to their new environment, patience is key during this time.

Involving children in training, summer outings, and playtime in the backyard will create lasting memories. However, it’s important to supervise children around new pets, regardless of their size, during the initial adjustment phase.

Adopting a pet during the summer, especially when shelters see an increase in animals, benefits both the adopted pet and the community.

Randy is 12 months old and 60 lbs as of April 4, 2024. He is an absolute dream who is house/bell trained, knows commands, and loves all people and other animals. Randy loves to play chase and hide and seek and enjoys going for walks. He would enjoy a home with other dogs but can be your one and only as well.

Scrappy Doo had a rough start in life, and he has had some complications from heart worm infection. He is only about two years old but may need to be on medication for his heart for the rest of his life. Because of this, his adoption fee is waived, we just ask for a donation to contribute toward the care we've provided so far. Though he had some bumps in the road, Scrappy is really doing great and is ready for his forever home!

Scrappy loves his person - his person is his world - and he would love a home where he can be his person's world.

Scrappy is good with kids (9+ recommended if any) and is fine with other dogs, although he rarely plays with them. He is house-trained and even uses a dog door independently. He interacts with all the humans in his foster home but picks one to be his main squeeze. He will be friends with any human that offers treats.

Scrappy enjoys lap time and snuggles, but will also nap on his own on comfy dog beds. He dotes on his person and loves being held after coming inside from the cold. He cries when there is a loud boom of thunder and will ask to be close to his person. He's well mannered in general and has learned some basic commands like 'sit' and 'stay.' He is not crazy about car rides but does well in public settings.

Weight: 20 lbs.

Breed: Red Min Pin mix

He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Unfortunately, Scrappy tested positive for heartworms and is being treated with a slow kill method because the infection is advanced. There is risk of developing heart failure, but also a chance he will have a good lifespan.

When this sweet boy came to LHS he was in bad shape and needed extensive care for his diagnostics and treatment to stabilize him. It was determined that he will need to be on medication for the course of his life - $25 a month - to keep his heart strong. We have waived his adoption fee but we are requesting a donation of the adopter's choice to LHS to help contribute the amount invested in all of his medical expenses that led to saving his life.

Bubbles was left behind when her owner moved out of a rental property. Her roommate stepped up to care for her until a forever home could be found. Bubbles loves carrying her toys around and takes treats very gently. She knows how to sit, shake, lay down, and roll over on command and plays fetch. She's also house and crate-trained! Bubbles loves exercising in her yard several times a day and would do best in a home that can provide regular exercise. She does great with cats, but hasn't been around children so we're not sure how she would do. Bubbles is good with other dogs but needs to be fed separately from them.

Luna was adopted in Jan 2023 from the local animal shelter. Over time the family dynamic has changed and with a new baby on the horizon, the family feels it's best to find her a more suitable home. She is very sweet, smart and eager to please.

Luna is housebroken and crate trained. She does great with large dogs but is not a fan of small dogs (especially males). She has not been around kitties. She would do best in a home with no kiddos or older respectful kids as a house with chaos is not the best place for the guarding shepherd breeds who prefer order.

She is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccinations. Luna tested positive for heartworms and has received a Proheart12 injection on June 6th. The Proheart12 will work to kill off all larva and the antibiotics she has completed weaken the adult worms to die off slowly. This option allows for Luna to have zero activity restrictions and very low risk of blood clot or other issues associated with the faster heartworm treatment method. It also serves as monthly heartworm prevention so there is no need to remember to give her the standard heartworm prevention pill monthly to keep all pets from getting heartworms to begin with. She will be re-tested in June 2025 for heartworms (which is covered by LHS). Meet Miss Josey Joe! Josey is a 1 1/2 year old, female, Shepherd/Akita mix that weighs 57 lbs. She was originally found off of Windjammer Lane at the Harbor in Rockwall and taken to the local animal shelter. Miss Josey is a smart active girl that is looking for a FURever home of her own. She does great with other dogs and has no interest in cats. She is housebroken and crate trained.

Josey has moved into foster care, but she really needs a forever home to call her own! Josey definitely will do best in a home with other dogs as that is who she is the most comfortable with. She would do ok in a home with kids 6+ years of age due to her shy nature.

Lady was adopted as a puppy with her littermate from a family in Oklahoma whose dogs had one of those unexpected surprise litters that occur when two unaltered pets live together. As most sibling cases go, Lady and her sibling are no longer getting along, and the family has decided it would be best to find Lady a home where the siblings are no longer living together. She does get along with other dogs. She has not been around cats, but we can cat test of needed. Lady is a young doggie who sometimes doesn't know her own size and can easily knock down toddlers on accident so she would do best in a home with older sturdy kiddos. She is crate trained and housebroken. Lady is very smart, loving and will make a wonderful pet for a couple or family with older children. Lady has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and all ready for a forever home to call her own. Since they were found at the beginning of the Stars/Mavericks playoffs, he and his sister were given names to commemorate the playoff runs. Maverick is a sweet boy who likes to play and nap at this age. he often looks lovingly into his foster mom's face. He has two different colored eyes-one blue, one hazel. He loves to be petted, especially belly rubs, and is very affectionate. He does howl when unhappy but it doesn’t last long-for this reason he is probably not apartment appropriate. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be. This puppy has not yet had two sets of shots and would not be appropriate for a home without a private potty training space at this time. Public spaces put unvaccinated puppies at high risk for severe or life threatening illnesses. **MINNIE MOUSE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!** Meet beautiful Minnie Mouse! She is the belle of the ball but remains without a partner for long walks and someone’s eyes to stare into and love. She is an absolutely stunning girl that is easy to love. As you can see, she thinks she is a lapdog. Her tail goes a mile a minute when someone pays attention to her. Being surrendered to the shelter where she was a staff and volunteer favorite did not change her sweet disposition but she was so happy to be rescued and is now looking for her fairy tale ending in her foster home. The only thing Minnie wants is a home - a forever home - where she'll be loved and truly considered part of the family. She's been unlucky in love in the past, but she doesn't let it stop her from excitedly greeting and loving every new person who comes her way. To Minnie, a stranger is just a friend she hasn't met yet - and friends provide attention and sometimes even yummy treats! Minnie adores getting attention, especially shoulder massages and gentle back scratches. She knows how to sit and waits very patiently for treats when you reward her and takes them very gently. She would love to join you on some weekend hikes no matter the weather - there are so many amazing things to see and sniff and explore with a friend! Update! Coco has been adopted! Coco is a lively, affectionate, and energetic girl. She does well with other dogs and would be fine with kids. She loves bones, toys, and exploring outside while supervised. While Coco is a loyal and happy companion, her tendency to be underfoot might post a risk to individuals who are elderly or prone to falls. We recommend she be adopted by someone without these specific concerns, ensuring everyone's safety and peace of mind. Meet Waverly! Waverly, Wyatt and their mom Winter were found near a ball field. Mom was microchipped to a Golden/Poodle breeder, but the chip was never registered. In hopes of finding her owners, all resources were exhausted, and she was on stray hold for an extended period of time before she was taken into the LHS adoption program. Waverly is a golden doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) She is just a baby so she will need a home with the time and patience to teach her how to be the best doggies she can be. Midnight is just shy of 9 months old (as of 2/26/24) and 41 lbs as of Nov. 14th. He was rescued from a crowded shelter where he was overlooked and is now safe in foster care.
