The founders, Mark and Karan, bought a farm in Franklin County, Virginia to assist Mark’s parents. They moved to Franklin with their animals (mostly rescues). While living in Franklin the number of animals continued to increase. Karan started working with the Franklin County Humane Society listing the adoptable animals on Petfinder. As her rescue continued to grow, it needed an official name so be

came Hillcrest, the name Mark’s dad had given their farm. Mark’s job relocated their family and the rescue to Texas in the spring of 2002. Shortly after, Karan was fortunate to meet Dr. Meier at a clinic in McKinney. Dr. Meier treated every one of the Hillcrest ‘kids’ as family and understood this rescue was about doing everything needed for them. Mark and Karan have dedicated their property to the rescue to help even more kids without a voice. Hillcrest is about having the kids in a home environment and making them part of a family until they find their forever home.

Yes, this actually happened today. Tried applying oil, but no luck. After grinding off the step bolts (while my assistant applied cold water) we removed the step and bent the support out with a farm jack eventually freeing her. A bit dazed and confused, but not too worse for the wear.🐮🐄

This is Sassy's Easter photo shoot with her play-by-play. Our parents (Big Pushover & Mama) wanted to disguise us as bees (said those were da' only costumes she had that sorta matched. Thumper wouldn't wear da' antennae's and whined about being too hot so Moma sent him to the Big Doghouse where she sends the BP when he won't do what she wants....I think the trolls scared Thumper, but he won't admit it. Mama says they are harmless gnomes but I beat 'em up to prove to Bubba that I'm as big as him as he will quit wanting to have me as a Scooby snack. Si I captured all their loot! After destroying those scary trolls, I wanted to go swimming! The BP bought me a pink swimming pool, swimming diapers with Dori on them and floaties. (Mama says gotta be safe and she don't wnat no chocloate bobbles in da' pool) I hated the floaties so I chewed off the thingy that keeps da' air insides. (She's says THAT was a waste of $3...) Meanwhile, Dori and my diaper float off in search of Nemo so BP says I can go skinny dipping while Mama says "it looks mor like "chunky dunking", whatever dat' is! I did good! I snorkled, probably peed and splashed losts of water on BP - ho got soooo wet!!!! Dats It! BEE HAPPY! THE END!
