Volunteer pitch for FFAR! This is our third "Coffee and Cats" meeting where volunteers get together for coffee and yummy treats (thank you, Becky and Taylor) and conversation. It's a wonderful way for volunteers from both stores to ask questions, share their experiences and concerns and get to know one another. If you think you might want to be a part of this wonderful fun group, fill out a volunteer app at furryfriendsanimalrescue.org. We truly have the most dedicated amazing volunteers any rescue group could possibly hope to have. It takes a village and each and every position these volunteers hold is super important and part of the process of getting our kitties into homes. Check out a great update from recently adopted BRIELLE’S mom! We are so grateful for our repeat adopters!

We have an update on Brielle (now Tally) whom we adopted a few days before Christmas. She’s doing amazingly well. She is so loved by her parents and her four human siblings. It took a while for her three cat siblings to warm up to her, but with time and patience we have made great strides. She’s sweet and feisty, and we love her so very much!

All 4 of our kitties are FFAR babies and we appreciate you guys so much!

Nikki, one of the 4 brown tabbies at the 121 store, was adopted yesterday! They are a fun and sweet sibling group and Nikki wants everyone to know her siblings are still available. She will live with a Siamese boy who needed a playmate and also a dog friend. Have already received this update... "We renamed her “Nami”. Things are going so great! Our other cat is Harry and they take turns chasing each other around the house!!" Sounds like lots of fun days ahead for them, and when they get tired of chasing around she will have grandparents to cuddle with. So happy she is finally in her forever home!

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION: BUTTERNUT was rescued from a local kill shelter where his big beautiful 14-pound self had been brought in as a stray from a surrounding area. He was already microchipped so his "owner" was contacted. The shelter was told, "Oh, I gave him away." The person they were told he was given to was listed as the emergency contact on the chip (weird) and they never answered their phone. So therein lies the story that is heard so often when these guys come into the shelter. Although one might be excused for thinking it's a good thing the cat is microchipped because that must mean they have an owner and are wanted, this is way too often not the case. So Butternut was brought into rescue and he's a lovely cat, still young at only three years. He is a big boy and extremely affectionate. If interested in meeting and possibly adopting this handsome buff boy, go to furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and submit an application. You will be contacted within 24 hours (if not, please check your spam folder).

NOTE: Butternut is FIV positive, but don't let this scare you! Butternut is young and perfectly health, except that he carries this virus. FIV is feline immunodeficiency virus. Cats can live long, healthy lives with FIV and latest research confirms that they do, indeed, live normal lifespans. FIV is primarily transmitted to other cats via bites (must be transmitted through blood) and is not transferred via litterboxes or food bowls. The virus only lives outside the cat for 2-3 hours so it is not contagious to other cats in non-aggressive households. Actually, many people own FIV+ cats and do not even know they carry this virus. It is asymptomatic and unless a blood test is performed, there is no way of knowing if a cat has it. FIV is ABSOLUTELY NOT transmittable to humans or dogs.

Already got an update on Nova! Dad says this: "Thank you for today! We are absolutely in love and she's already fitting right in. We've decided to rename her Luna, because she's mesmerizing like the moon in the night sky. She hasn't had a single reserve or hesitation since I let her out. She's been purring, snuggling, and playing with us. She also ate her first meal and didn't leave a crumb. We love her so much already. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." Not sure how that could be any better. She knows she's finally home and we are so happy to see her so happy. Happy life, Beautiful Luna!❤

And yet another adoption at our 380/75 PetSmart today! CLARICE now has a home with an awesome mom and dad (shown in pic). And to make it even better, they have another FFAR kitty adopted a year or so ago. They wanted a buddy for him (his name is "Buddy" and they say he is the best cat ever) and another feline to even out the human/kitty ratio. We know Buddy will love having a sweet little kitten to play with and be big brother to. Thanks for coming back to FFAR and adopting another one!

Here is a video of TENACITY (read about her cerebellar hypoplasia a few posts back) walking. She's amazing!❤And you can see why CH is also called "drunken sailor syndrome."

Jacob has won over his new family. They are still going slow with the dog but everything so far is going great for this sweet boy... "We ended up renaming him Jasper (jasPURRR) because he’s always got his motor going ☺️"

We already got this video of ARABELLA with Mom saying she's already coming around. She looks so happy making biscuits and getting loved on! We are so appreciative when folks take these cats that don't show well at PetSmart and basically just take our word for it when we say they are good cats in a different environment. Some of them are tough because they don't get adopted on line so they need to go to PetSmart and be seen; however, they don't cope with that stress and sell themselves once they are there. Thank goodness for adopters who understand animals and are willing to take a risk! ❤

Meet Everest! She’s a 25lb black tri female that’s between 2 and 3 years of age. She was found with a bucket stuck on her head and ran for 4 days before animal services was able to catch her to free her. After 2 weeks at she shelter, she was terrified of everything and just wanted to hide from the world. She was deemed “not adoptable” and was set to be euthanized if not taken by a rescue group. After a week at her foster parents’ home, she has come out of her shell, loves playing with the other dogs and seeks cuddles and attention from everyone. Though she spent the first couple of days hiding under the couch until she realized she was safe, she is extremely smart and quickly learned how to walk on a leash and became house trained in a just a few days. She is such an awesome dog and we are thrilled to see her amazing transformation in such short amount of time. She will be available for adoption in about a month once she is spayed and fully vaccinated. Until then, she will continue to play and enjoy her second chance in life in her foster home.
