Ham saved my life yesterday. He hurt his paw but I’m alive because of his bravery. Thank you, Ham. You are my best friend. I was working on my house where I fell and was critically injured. He ran to me and started howling and crying; he tried to drag me and ripped his foot open. Luckily he got my neighbors attention. I should be dead, but he saved me. Dogs are family ❤

Meet Buster, our adorable 7 month old Boxer puppy that still hasn’t had a single meet and greet. He’s had two great applications that backed out before even meeting him without reason 😞 and it’s not just him, rescues all over are seeing this. If these dogs are going to get adopted, we need YOUR help! Please share and ask your friends to also!

This little bundle of joy loves nothing more than making new friends - both two-legged and four-legged! Buster is a social butterfly (or should we say, social paw-fly?) who thrives on playing and snuggles.

When he's not busy charming everyone with his adorable wrinkles and wagging tail, Buster loves to play with his favorite toys and go on long walks to explore the world around him.

And the best part? He's a quick learner and is doing great with crate and house training! Buster is growing up to be a fun and well-adjusted pup, and we couldn't be prouder of him!

If you're looking for a furry friend to brighten up your day, Buster is your guy! Let's get this pup out on some adventures and making some unforgettable memories with his FOREVER family!

To meet Buster to see if he’s the pup for you submit an application at www.releashatlanta.com

THIS IS NOT A DRILL NO-KILL STATUS AT RISK
📢 Urgent: Bayou Animal Services at Critical Capacity! 📢
Our no-kill shelter (which is only sustainable with the animals being kept humanely) currently houses 109 ANIMALS ON SITE with 173 animals in our care. We have taken in 41 animals since June 1st. Dogs are coming in faster than we can get them adopted! While we've proudly maintained our no-kill status with the unwavering support of our community, that status is now at risk.
Our shelter is at a breaking point, and the situation is becoming increasingly unsafe and inhumane for our beloved animals and staff. To prevent any drastic measures, we urgently need:
🐾 Fosters – Even if you can only help for a couple of weeks, it will make a world of difference. We provide everything you need: food, bowls, leashes, flea and heartworm prevention, toys, crates, blankets, grooming supplies, and support from our animal care professionals. The only thing they need is your love, space, and time.
Already have pets? We are happy to pair your family with the perfect foster. According to your lifestyle and current pets.
https://www.bayouanimalservices.org/foster
🐾 Adopters – Consider adding a furry friend to your family today. We offer a two-week adoption trial with no strings attached! We provide everything you need to make this trial a success. Food, crate, leash, all preventative meds, and 24/7 contact with our adoption counselor, who can walk you through most new pet issues. You can also bring your pet to pick their next best friend.
WE ARE WAIVING ADOPTION FEES TODAY THROUGH 6/29 / With an approved application
https://www.bayouanimalservices.org/adoptable-animals
🐾 Rescue Partners – We need rescue organizations to step up and assist in taking some of our animals. We have spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm-negative, well-behaved, dog-friendly, beautiful dogs that need rescuing!
Please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Leah at 832-491-9900
Your support is crucial in helping us continue to save lives and provide a safe haven for these animals. Please share this post and spread the word. Together, we can ensure a bright future for every animal in our care. ❤️Contact us today to find out how you can help: 713-876-5838

“I adopted you in old age and I thought you would leave in a few hours... Eventually the hours became days and the days became weeks.”

You loved the sun, the car rides and you were happy...
I don't know what you went through, but I would have liked to find you earlier and heal your wounds.
No one deserves to leave alone..."
From a mom who adopts older animals, so that they do not die alone 💕

BE WITH THEM UNTIL THEIR LAST BREATH!!

"It turns out that pets also have last wills before they die, but only known to vets who put old and sick animals to sleep." Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a vet what the hardest part of his job was.
The specialist replied without hesitation that the hardest thing for him was seeing how old or sick animals look for their owners before they fall asleep. The fact is 90% of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so they don't see their animals leave. But they don't realize it's in these last moments of life that their animal needs them the most.
Vets are asking owners to stay close to animals until the end. "It is inevitable that they die before you. Remember that you were the center of their lives. Maybe they were just a part of you. But they are also your family. Even if it's hard, don't give up on them.
Don't let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they don't like. It's very painful for vets to see how pets can't find their owner in the last minutes of their lives. They don't understand why their master left them. After all, they needed the consolation of their master.
Veterinarians do their best to make animals not so scared, but they are totally strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think about the animal. Endure that pain for them. Be with them until the end.

A Friendly Reminder:

The Opossum is able to withstand up to 80 Rattlesnake or Coral Snake bites. Thanks to them, there is an Antidote to poisonous snake venom. Please don’t kill them! They don’t get Rabies and they eat Ticks… They’re your friend ❤️

Look at this girl available through our friends at Orphan Annie Rescue ❤️

The sweetest companion is waiting for her forever home. She would be great for most situations - a family with kids, someone retired, a couple… she’s really just a great girl. She does eat special food called “Biome” for her sensitive stomach.

Julianne is a 19 lb, 6-8 year old love bug. She is the sweetest girl who loves people and being near you. She has done very well with her foster family's children, too. She is happy to lay close to you on the floor or snuggle up on the couch. She enjoys spending time outside and would ideally have a fenced in yard so she can lounge outside when she wants to. She does leash walk but is a bit slow on leash. She does well with other dogs but has no interest in playing with them.

Julianne hasn't shown much of a desire to play with toys or other dogs, but she will drag a blanket or towel to lay on. She will sometimes run around the yard and then find a spot to nest. She has done very well with potty training in her foster home, but they let her out frequently. She doesn't give any signals that she needs to go potty though.

To adopt this wonderful girl, please apply on www.orphanannierescue.org

Meet Tyson, a sweet boy who has spent 128 days in the shelter. His spirit is broken, and he has lost hope of ever finding a family. The shelter staff describes him as scared, anxious, and confused. Tyson exhibits heartbreaking signs of kennel stress, pacing in circles and avoiding leaving his cage. Shelter life is taking a toll on his desire for companionship, and it's equally heartbreaking for the staff who watch him. Let's spread awareness about Tyson and help him find a loving home!

You only have a few years with your dog
so let him climb on the bed, on the couch.
Let him go with you for a walk and get some fresh air.
Let him get the biggest stick he can find.
Let it happily roll in the mud.
Let him swim and enjoy the water.
Because time sure flies and won't be here forever.
In the blink of an eye, your time on earth will be over.
A dog is not just an animal, it's an angel that is here passing by, to accompany you, always there.. for you.
They don't care how much you look or how much money you have.
They won't judge you, or talk about you behind your back.
They just love you unconditionally with all their heart, soul, being and forever.
They are the best friend you will ever have...
