ANITA (A417699) video in comments
can u temp foster to save a life? contact [email protected]

Welcome Anita. She’s a 3 year old German Shepherd mix. She is high heartworm positive, but this is treatable. Anita came to the shelter after wandering around on her own for a good month 🙁. It is noted that Anita does not do well with men.
Anita spends her time hanging out on her bed. When you stop at her kennel she comes up to say hello. Anita was easy to leash. Anita is a bit shy when she first meets you. You need to go slowly and give her time to trust you.
Once she trust you she welcomes all your affection and gentle chin scrubs. Anita is chill and calm and curious about her surroundings. She meandered around the play yard and checked things out.
Anita is a very, very sweet girl. She stays close to people and wants to give/receive love. Will you choose her to be part of your family?
Anita is patiently waiting at Cumberland County Animal Services and she wants to meet you. Come visit her - no appointment needed. Anita is ready to be cherished and loved. She just needs you to give her a freedom ride and a second chance. 910 321-6852.

After 18 months, this poor girl is still waiting for that home. 💖Stella turned 2 years old this month and is missing out on so much without a family. She longs to run and play, ride in a car to get a Pup cup, curl up on a lap, eat food that drops on the kitchen floor and so much more. She might be shy at first, but will open up and smoother you with kisses. Adopt this girl for only $50, she is all vetted and ready to walk out the door with you‼️.

"Cuddled Against Her Siblings, She Has No Idea She’s on a Kill List." 💀

"WHY DOES NO ONE WANT ME?"

Lilly ( ) is just 2 months old—too young to be scared, too young to be unwanted, too young to be on a kill list. Yet here she is, huddled against her siblings, waiting for a fate she doesn’t understand. 💔

She and her littermates retreat to the cold steel walls when someone enters, their tiny ears tucked back, their little bodies shaking. They’ve never known warmth. Never known love. But they deserve to.

Lilly will die tomorrow if no one steps up. Not because she’s sick, not because she’s aggressive—but because no one came for her. Please, be her hero.

A tiny, fragile puppy with white and brown fur presses against her siblings, her dark eyes filled with confusion and fear. The cold, metal walls of the kennel reflect back their hopelessness. She looks up with a quiet, pleading expression—too small to fight, too innocent to understand. Her world has been nothing but a loud, frightening shelter, and now her time is running out.

‼️URGENT‼️
👉 For the most up-to-date notes, please check the bio located in the comments👈

Picasso ACCT-A-212858 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Picasso must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER, or RESCUE PARTNER by Friday, February 28th by 10:00 am. Should Picasso’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.

Meet Picasso – A true of heART!

With his big, lovable presence and adorable pig-like snorts, Picasso is a masterpiece of a dog! This gentle giant explores his surroundings with curiosity, his tail wagging high as he takes it all in. When called, he happily trots over, soft eyes full of warmth, and leans his whole big butterball body against you—because, of course, he knows he deserves all the love!

Picasso enjoys affection, soaking up cuddles when the mood strikes but he is also content to do his own thing. He’s incredibly patient, sitting politely for treats and taking them ever so gently with his sweet, smushy lips. While at the shelter, he has had a good meet with another dog. During his meet, he was very excited to meet another canine friend and does pull quite strongly; he would benefit greatly from a front clipping harness when on walks. Picasso is looking for a home that is preferably adult only, but is open to meeting any kids in the home as well so please bring them along to meet!

If you are looking for a big, snuggly best friend with a personality as unique as his name; Picasso is ready to make your home his next masterpiece!

MEDICAL NOTES:

On 2/12 per exam: Picasso has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection. PCR test taken & came back negative for pneumovirus.

On 2/8 per intake exam:

Eyes - red

Ears - red, slightly waxy

Nose - clear

Mouth/Teeth/Gums - staining, tartar present, gums red

Coat & Skin - no fleas/flea dirt

Urogenital - male, intact, a**s is slightly protruding and p***s appears dry

Gait/Mobility - normal, no lameness

Attitude: BAR, friendly with loose body language, stressed and pawing at door to leave

BEHAVIOR NOTES:

On 2/23 per volunteer: Picasso definitely appears house trained. This handsome boy is very strong on the leash and maybe benefit from a harness and leash training. He’s a sweet guy who allowed pets all over and was easy to return to kennel. He was interested in dogs but manageable.

On 2/23 per staff: Picasso is very strong on leash. I am not the strongest handler so I had to swap with the other person. Through the fence he initially froze and was very stiff, then pulled strongly towards the end of the fence. We swapped and the other handler walked him a little before the meet. He was a lot looser through the fence and we proceeded to a walk along and then a face to face. He was good, just needs a very strong handler.

Walk sheet notes:

2/23: Strong on the leash, medium energy during the walk

2/22: Good on the walk & strong; no issues

2/17: A good boy, medium to high energy on the walk

2/10: No issues on the walk, very strong and medium to high energy

2/9: Pulls on the leash, very sweet & loves to sniff

On 2/9 per staff: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Picasso

KNOWN HISTORY:

Police pickup

KENNEL PRESENTATION:

Picasso was sitting in front of the door with wide eyes (just his eyes) and a neutral body. He was easy to leash and stayed seated while being secured. Once secured he came right out.

LEASH SKILLS:

Pulls strongly

HANDLING :

In the room, Picasso sniffed around the room curiously with a high wagging tail and cute pig noises. He came over to me when I called for him with mid level wags and softer eyes. He pushed his big boy body against me demanding attention and allowed all the handling. He did the occasional lip lick when I touched his tail but remained tolerant. He is a gentle giant and will sit very patiently for treats. He takes them very gently with his cute lips. He is a big butterball that likes to do his own thing but doesn't mind some cuddle tie on occasion.
