Although my time with Pearl was short, I’m beyond impressed with how well she did.

At the beginning of October she wasn’t even halter broke and now she’s had her first ride. This feisty filly should make someone one hell of a horse.

Thank you Jerry Hawker for providing the facility and Wendy Weddle for babysitting Everleigh

Couldn’t be happier with how this girl is coming along.

Pearl has had a busy few days!

We’re figuring out that being tied up isn’t so bad after all! At JVJ, we believe that standing quietly and patiently while tied is one of the key elements to a successful c**t. After all, how can they possibly handle a saddle if they can’t handle their own boredom.

Big day for Pearl!

After another successful haltering and leading session, I felt confident that she could be moved to the big barn. For some context, Pearl had never left this stall, literally born and raised in it. So going out into the big world was a huge step for her and she handled it amazingly!!

Welcome Ms Pearl!

Today was halter day and she did great! First time with a halter on and first time being led around. With as quickly as she learned today, I’m so excited for her future.

Stay tuned with her and her progress!

A little background on myself and JVJ. These three were the start of everything.

Jazzy (lower left) was my first horse. She wasn’t fancy broke and to anyone else she wouldn’t have been worth the hay she ate, but to me she was everything. She was the reason I fell in love with horses.

Jesse (lower right) was my first c**t. He taught me more lessons than I can count. He was a jerk and not the brightest, let’s be honest here, but he’d go (almost) anywhere I pointed him (not water, he hated water). Barrels, poles, breakaway, goat tying, didn’t matter he’d do it. May not have been great at it, but he’d do it.

Vegas (top) was the first c**t I ever trained 100% myself. She’s the reason I found my passion in training c**ts. I’ve spent more hours on the back of this horse than any other, and every time I swing a leg over I remember why.

Talk about a goober! I’m lucky enough to still get to swing a leg over the sweet girl. Absolutely love her color and personality. Hopefully one day we’ll see her in some ranch classes

Timber!

This girl sure had a personality and a HARD stop. She definitely threw some challenges my way, but nothing some consistency and patience couldn’t overcome.
