It's been waayyy too long since we updated!! We have been super busy! Isabelle is the absolute joy of our days! She is sweet and patient and hilarious. Her amputation is right around the corner so I wanted to give potential adopters a heads up. While she is the most angelic little girl in the world, she has been seriously traumatized by her previous owner/owners. Adopting her to be a part of your family will require the patience of a saint and a heart of gold. She is afraid of everything. Doors, inanimate objects that may impede her entrance through said doors, certain people (we haven't figured out exactly what sets her anxiety off yet), rainstorms, loud noises, fast movement, the vaccuum, your energy. I literally mean if you are agitated in any way, shape, or form, she will cower. She desperately needs reassuring and likes to be with you all the time. Although, she does ok when we are at work/school through the day. She needs someone who knows what trauma can do to a spirit and how to help her through it. Hugs and verbal reassurance thats she's ok seem to help tremendously. But you will have to remain calm about absolutely everything around her. I know it sounds like a lot but she is so worth all the love and safety that this world can give her. Please consider making her a big part of your life. And please share this post so we can reach more potential adopters.

When I was about 4 we had a beautiful black lab mix named Belvedere. He was my best friend. My favorite memory is of us laying in front of our big glass door and watching the cars on the highway down below. We would "talk" for what seemed like hours. He would have an arm around my shoulder and I would have one around his. He was a good boy. Sadly, he got out one day and got onto that highway. I've never had a dog "hug" me like Belvedere since then. Until Isabelle. I don't have a picture of it because it usually happens in the quietness of night. Or when she's snuggling. And only a crazy person would move from that to get their phone. I just soak in the moment. I will put my arm around her and she will do the same. It brings me back to my childhood best friend. Dogs are amazing. They love with all their hearts. And if I thought that Isabelle was for us, I'd adopt her right now. Today. Done. But something in my heart tells me she is here for someone else. That we are only a temporary place. A place to rest and grow and be loved. So that's what we are giving her. I hope that you share this so that maybe that someone will see this and connect. She will not be available for adoption until she is healed from the amputation. I believe we are looking at around April. This will be one of the most difficult goodbyes that I may ever face. But if she can be somebody's Belvedere, then everything is worth it.

Oh boy😅. The booties we ordered Isabelle were a bust🤣🤣. She chewed one off the second I turned around. We will try, try again. We are taking away one mat at a time so that she can better acclimate to the wood floors. She's doing beautifully! BIG NEWS!! She climbed the steps with zero help last night! This is going to save our backs👵🧓. She goes in and out on her own mostly. I am so proud of this little lady!! She is going to make a family oh so happy! She certainly has made ours❤

Isabelle is doing great!!! However, it's been a month and she just can't get used to our hardwood floors ☹️. I imagine it's difficult enough on a dog who's never lived indoors. But having 3 legs compounds that. The very last thing we want is for her to fall and injure her leg or body. While we are still waiting on booties to arrive, does anyone have an old yoga mat or anything that's slip resistant and waterproof? It helps tremendously for her to get some traction so she can explore the house. Message me if you have something you are willing to get rid of! Thank you!!!

This is big, you guys! Huge! Isabelle is exposing her paralyzed leg and belly to us! She's given us side belly before but ALWAYS hid her bum leg. I am so happy thats she is beginning to trust us!! She has started to go in and out of the door on her own. She does back slide to her old ways occasionally by tensing up and dropping down. But, who doesn't? Am I right? She is doing the best she can every day and we are seeing improvements across the board! GO ISABELLE!!!!👍👏👏👏

It's come to my attention that people are interested in adoption. She would make an amazingly loving addition to any family. However, she is heartworm positive. When that issue is solved, they will amputate her back leg. Healing time will take a while. Adoption will be possible in March/April. So please keep your hearts and homes open for this sweet, angel face girl.

Isabelle is progressing everyday! We've layed blankets on the floor to create a path from the living room to the back door. She is not a fan of the hardwood but we've ordered nonslip booties. We don't have to carry her nearly as much. Steve has moved past his jealousy into acceptance. Way to be mature ,Steve! She's exploring more and enjoying longer exercise time in the back yard. Her favorite place to cuddle is the loveseat. Hers all tucked in for the night😍

Day 5 with little miss 🌞. She still hasn't gotten completely comfortable going in and out of doors but we are working through it. Something traumatic must have happened. Her eternal love for hotdogs brought her out of the living room and into the entryway. Baby steps. Steve continues to seethe with jealousy but is slowly getting on with his life*eye roll*. Here he is inserting himself in her space and then staring at me as if he's oppressed. She has started to play with toys and chase balls. Her tail is constantly wagging. We are thrilled to see improvement and can't wait for what she can become in a safe and healthy environment. Well, except for Steve aka Karen.

A little background on this lady. Her life started out rough. She was shot twice at some point and lost the use of her back left leg. Even though she was a teen mom she carried the pups to a healthy, full term delivery. On 3 legs. With 2 bullets inside her. In the streets. Take that "MEN". She's got this though. As soon as she shows those heartworms the door, she'll get the much needed amputation. She was raised in the streets, her name still holds weight in the streets, if you want her trust you gotta come hard with meats(mostly hotdogs).⬅️ that's a rap.

If you want to help in any way, please donate to the Daphne Animal Shelter. Their funds get low, low towards the end of the year.
