Merry Christmas from the Solano Animal Shelter.
We wanted to bring Christmas to the homeless dogs and spend the day giving them exercise, treats and snuggles.
This is Gordon he is very sweet , calm and dog friendly. He just has some skin issues that are being treated. He is a very calm sweet soul.
Can anyone foster or adopt any of these cuties? Our Favorite was a little grey pitty who is calm, sweet and dog friendly but has some skin issues right now.
Did you know that you can volunteer at your local shelter to help walk the pups and provide them enrichment. Shelters are often short staffed and need help. If you can’t foster or adopt you can always volunteer and make a difference.
Here is Big Red aka Ren after all his long term care and treatment of bed rest, chiropractor, hydro therapy, and acupuncture. What an amazing family he has
Lady Update
We love updates!! We rescued Lady off the kill list from the Martinez shelter about 2 years ago and her wonderful foster Jocelyn adopted her. Lady was pretty terrified and untrusting of most everyone when we got her, but her foster worked hard at making her learn to trust again and lives a wonderful life out in the Country having a blast!!

******************************************
Patronus Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Po-Yen Chou did an amazing job. He planed out his surgery very carefully in order to have the best outcome. He was also able to shed some light on why Patronus's infection was continuing to get out of control. He did a culture on his lymph node after removing his leg as a precaution to see what bacteria was causing so much damage and found he had Enterobacteriacea which was resistant to every antibiotic he was given. There are only two antibiotics that could have possibly saved him and those are ONLY given out as a last resort and with antibiotic resistant bacteria it is for sure Not the standard course of action for most infections. This would have ultimately cost him his life and luckily it only cost him his leg amongst other procedures.
********************************************
Take away lesson and warning to all.. If your pet or you is receiving care for an infection that despite doing all the proper care and on antibiotics and you are not getting better PLEASE ASK them to culture the bacteria to see if they are using the right antibiotics..
Casper
Casper making friends with the pony. He doesn't understand why he doesn't want to play ball with him haha
Kirby
Hahaha Kirby my gentle giant. He has such a sweet little soul. I found this rubber duckie and I think he thinks it is real. He won't leave its side and has been sitting there for hours LOL. I rescued Kirby from Hell Hole Martinez shelter he was labeled "un-adoptable" at 10 months old because they thought he was to "hyper" and since he barked at other dogs he must be dog "aggressive". I ended up keeping him and he is the most gentle, sweet, dog loving, people loving sweet soul ever. He makes me smile everyday.
Casper
Casper says come on guys PLAY with me!!!
Casper
Casper and Kirby are best buds. Casper loves to groom and snuggle with him. I rescued Kirby from the Contra Costa hell hole shelter on his kill day over a year ago at only 10 months old. He was labeled unadoptable because he was a "hyper" puppy and barked at other dogs so they said he was dog "aggressive" . I ended up keeping Kirby who is the most loving, sweetest , dog friendly (He shows love and concern for every foster dog), dopy talker goofball haha. The shelter always miss labels these poor souls and it breaks my heart how many amazing dogs die at the hands of those heartless assholes that know nothing about dogs or humanity.
Get Ready to Rumble haha
I swear they wait to come inside to play wrestle mania. They boys have fun playing wrestle mania and then Layla has to come break it up when it gets a little to rough. Casper says he has been eating good, so he is a little chubby pork chop right now and when he gets playing rough he rolls over like a little roly poly hahaha. Kirby says he has to keep the Doberman from being to rough with his little Roly Poly Casper, so that is why you see him barking and jumping on him haha. He loves his little buddy.
UPDATE: Beau Adopted
Beau's story is just another reason why we do what we do. He lived a life tied to a chain and shown no love. I nice man rescued him but could not keep him or give him the life he deserved. He reached out to us for help. With everyone sharing our post to help him find a new home. The best home ever was found. He spends his days running on the beach in SF and getting endless love from his new mom Beth. Beth is happy to report that this was a match made in heaven! We all helped make this happen. Thank you..
Available for Adoption Goofy, sweet adorable Casper.
Casper will always keep you entertained with his amazing little personality. I think he hides his toys in the pool for safe keeping since he knows none of the other dogs will go in the pool. After watching him for a while I realized he was trying to get to a toy at the bottom of the pool. He is just the most amazing full of personality little guy you will ever meet. Help me find him the best home ever!! Do you need a fly catcher and chaser? Casper says he does that too (It is funny to watch).
