Foster or Adopter Needed.
Juice dwarfs his kennel. Everyone is bowled over at his size (a fit 103 lbs). This big boy is a gentle giant. He gets the wiggles, he does not know he is so big, he thinks he is a tea cup Chihuahua that can sit in your lap, be carried in your purse and play with other dogs without issue. Even though he is sweet and well mannered, we worry he will bowl over a few kids or not so strong adults, so we would reccomended a house with muscle and older kids. Although dog friendly we do think a large dog household would he ideal. Come meet this big hunk o'love today.

Can anyone foster or adopt?
We fell HARD in love with senior gentleman, Bramble. This poor boy has been at the shelter since OCTOBER and we simply don’t know why! Would some think he is “plain” looking ? Does he sometimes bark in his kennel? Does he have cropped ears which may put some off? Yes to all, but he’s a love through and through. And we think he’s super handsome!! Meet him outside his kennel and you will discover the most loving Velcro dog you can imagine. He’s a catch! He’ll greet everyone in your home with play bows and cuddles! He knows sit, down, shake and more! Let’s make this HIS TIME!! He needs a break and a forever family!

Merry Christmas from the Solano Animal Shelter.
We wanted to bring Christmas to the homeless dogs and spend the day giving them exercise, treats and snuggles.
This is Gordon he is very sweet , calm and dog friendly. He just has some skin issues that are being treated. He is a very calm sweet soul.
Can anyone foster or adopt any of these cuties? Our Favorite was a little grey pitty who is calm, sweet and dog friendly but has some skin issues right now.
Did you know that you can volunteer at your local shelter to help walk the pups and provide them enrichment. Shelters are often short staffed and need help. If you can’t foster or adopt you can always volunteer and make a difference.

Hazel needs our help finding a home. Her current family took her in when they found her abandoned at a daycare center. Their two dogs pick on Hazel and they have tried different options to make that stop but the two existing older dogs are just not having it, so we need to help find her a new home.

She is a Labrador pitbul mix. She is only 1 year and 7 months old. She is up to date on shots and is spayed. Hazel is full of energy, happiness, and is such a loving pup. She thinks she is a small dog and wants to be a lap dog all the time. She loves to snuggle and get belly rubs. Hazel also likes squeaky toys. Some things that hazel needs to work on is jumping. She wants to be in everyone’s arms and hasn’t gotten down to not jump yet. She is smart and a fast learner. She doesn’t bark unless she is playing with you. She is good with children. She is crate trained and knows not to go potty inside the house. Hazel is such a sweet dog. She deserve to be with someone she can continue to grow and become a even better version of herself. Bruno is on his way from Martinez to Eugene Oregon to meet his new adopter. Thank you to these wonderful ladies April Gagnon Cheryl Siemens Hale for driving him there and making saving his life possible. I got a chance to meet him on his way and he sure has a sweet soul. So timid and gentle. I can’t wait for him to have the Love he never had .

Happy Update Layla's Animal Cause was able to rescue Bruno today and thank you to April Gagnon and Jennifer Colletto and all of your guys sharing we were able to find him transport to Eugene Oregon to his new mommy Sloane Farnham . More pictures to come! One more dog off the kill list

BRUNO WILL BE PTS ON 11/15!!😪💔

Bruno, is a 5 year old black.pittie boy who has been at the shelter since 10/1. He is another super scared dog that is now on the euth list because he is too scared to leave his ward. He wants people contact because he will initially come to the front of his kennel when you approach and wag his tail, and even leave his kennel. But then his fear wins out and he will not move out of the ward.

Because he won't leave the ward, we don't know much about his behavior outside. But, in his ward, he will attempt to greet other dogs, take treats from his handler and allow himself to be leashed.

It didn't help that he got kennel cough within 2 weeks of being in the Shelter which resulted in his being quarantined for 2 weeks. A week afo, it was noticed that his nose was bleeding from an abraision that was the result of him rubbing his nose on the bars of his kennel.

BRUNO SHOULD NOT BE PTS BECAUSE HE IS SCARED IN THE SHELTER!!

Bruno is at the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter at 4800 Imhoff in Martinez, CA. Bruno is only approved for Rescue Groups.

Awesome update from Antioch Animal shelter!! A sweet pitty rescued and off to do police duty!!

Gauge, formerly Prius at Antioch Animal Services, has gone from a life as a stray on the streets of Antioch to a trained K9 detection dog who has recently been snatched up by the Imperial County Sheriff's Office and is training this week with his new handler Sergio Lopez of the ICS Dept. He will be on the streets once again, but not as a stray. This would not have been possible without David Dorn and his team at K-9 Specialized Training & Consulting (K9stac) who recognized something special in this young Pit Bull mix that they saw at our shelter. They have spent countless hours training Gauge to be the best. In addition to his job requirements Gauge is fun and a typical loveable pibble who makes everyone smile. We sure are smiling big and proud of his deserved success. We can't thank K9Stac enough for seeing this diamond in the ruffs! Congratulations on your new job Gauge. Go get 'em! ♡

On Kill List for This Thursday. Can anyone foster or adopt?? What a sweet squishy meatball.
WYATT IS SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA ON 11/14.

Wyatt, is a gorgeous white neutered pittie boy who has been at the Shelter since 8/6. He arrived at the Shelter with healing and scabbed over wounds in the top of his head and evidence of chronic ear and skin issues. He was also terrified and was pancaked on the ground. He is a fairly small dog, weighing about 48 pounds.

Wyatt initially was scared and shut down. Now, he is friendly to staff and volunteers. He loves to go for walks and resists going back.in his kennel.He likes meeting new people, but still jumps when he is startled or hears loud sounds.

Wyatt is at the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter at 4800 Imhoff in Martinez, CA.

Courtesy Post for a family in need. This sweet two year old 90 pound mastiff mix needs help finding a new home. She is very sweet and playful, up to date on shots and is spayed. The current owners say she is an amazing dog and feels that she would do best in a home without small children as she is so big and playful (and can be a little mouthy when playing). Layla’s Animal was contacted for help about a stray mama cat and her two feral kittens that showed up at a business out in an industrial area. We offered to get the mama and her kitties spayed and neutered and get them a supply of food. So far mama just got spayed today and we are working on getting the scared feral kittens tame enough to be handled in order to get them spayed and neutered. They have already found homes yay!! No Kill shelters are possible if you have staff that give a s**t and are dedicated. See this ladies story....
Kayla Denney has devoted her career to saving every dog’s life that she can, and for that she's being awarded the 2019 National ‘Unsung Hero" Award by Petco.

She's brought the animal shelter in Taft from almost a 100 percent kill rate all the way down to zero percent. Since she took over last November, each dog that has passed through here has found a forever home.

“As of November 1st, we have saved 565 dogs and cats out of Taft,” said Kayla Denney.
