Calyx, the brains behind Kodiak Animal Services, is facing the challenging and time-consuming task of training their service dog. While Baxter loves training and working, he finds greeting people and dogs incredibly exciting. Today, they received praise from a professional dog trainer. As Baxter completed puppy school, Calyx has shown remarkable consistency and calmness in handling him.

Calyx is equipped to help you overcome any obstacles you may be facing with your pets.

I recently went to the Ohio state FFA convention. I was able to learn about several colleges and career opportunities. I found one that offers a Canine Assisted Services program. I’ll have to decide between this and the Equine programs I’ve been considering. They’re all so intriguing!

Here’s an interesting read on an important topic. Considering the dog’s needs and understanding their body language is key to problem solving. Please contact me if you’d like to schedule a session to learn more about what your pup is trying to tell you.

It might not actually be the best way to show your furry friend affection. Here's what a veterinary behaviorist recommends.

I had the privilege of attending a dog behavior conference presented by one of my idols, Victoria Stillwell. This knowledge is already helping at home and I look forward to implementing these tools with client dogs.

Eclipsing the Norm: How Animals React to Solar Totality

During a total solar eclipse stars and bright planets may be visible in the darkened sky, there will be a measurable temperature drop, and animals may begin acting strangely.
How strangely? Very. Our animals rely on temperature and light to determine the time of day. As the totality nears, diurnal birds may flock to return early to their roosting areas and often display significant anxiety behaviors, aware that something is amiss. Dogs often bark, cattle and horses may begin returning to their barns, believing the evening feed is imminent. Crickets emerge and begin to serenade. Evening insects awake and bats take wing for the early evening feast. Owls may begin to call and take flight from daytime nesting areas to begin their evening hunt. Coyotes and foxes might even be spotted as they start to roam their territories. Totality is a fascinating moment of upside-down reality.

🪺 Play and a variety of enrichment activities are just as important as regular walks.
🪺We had fun with Bitty and Baxter at our annual egg hunt. The eggs were filled with 4 different flavors of Biljak training treats, lamb lung, and the golden eggs each had a chicken heart.
