Materials - While the price for these enclosures are similar to USA made PVC enclosures, we need to point out that Chinese made PVC and glass costs considerably less and is not the same quality as certified, pet safe USA made PVC.
Design - For the design itself, this design is commonly used in simple online DIY plans with very little machining needed and as the front does not have a thick frame (or any support), the sides can bow over time, especially if they have other enclosures stacked on top. Our enclosures feature a 1 inch thick machined front that is considerably stronger so they can be stacked up two high.
The screen top is flyscreen and will block about 50% of UVB whereas our honeycomb Aluminum mesh is substantially stronger and allows 77% of UVB through.

Why Pay More for Less?
The general rule when comparing most products is that the best is never the cheapest, and the cheapest is never the best, but in the reptile industry we still have “glass tanks” that just cost way too much. The reason for the high cost is that so many get broken in shipping, and so consumers are then paying for all the ones that get smashed along the way.
Originally, most pet reptiles had to live in a glass fish tank, because that was all that was available at the time. But, glass is a terrible material for most reptile enclosures, and here are some of the reasons why:
1. Glass does not insulate well and most of the heat escapes through the walls
2. Glass is reflective and stresses many reptiles out
3. Glass makes reptiles feel exposed, and vulnerable from all sides
4. Glass is heavy and can break easily

In keeping any reptile, one of the most important provisions is the heat and humidity levels inside the enclosure. While most reptiles can tolerate lower temps, temps that are too high can be deadly and can have tragic results in just minutes. As for humidity, incorrect levels can cause respiratory infections and other ailments if the levels are too high and problems such as dehydration, loss of appetite and shedding issues if the relative humidity levels are too low.
The "Breeder Box" designs that are still standard in many PVC enclosures today, are used for housing large numbers of reptiles by stacking them several enclosures high. The small vents that provide the only airflow may work in a temperature and humidity controlled breeding room, but are woefully inadequate for today's more advanced keeping methods.
PVC enclosures insulate extremely well and as the minimal ventilation design restricts the fresh air exchange, combined with extremely hot internal light fixtures of up to 250 degrees, can create a situation where the reptile's ambient temperatures are way too hot, and may make it harder for the reptile to find a cooler spot to escape the heat. The same for humidity when it's trapped inside a hot breeder box, and while the humidity level may be high, the system is not pulling in enough fresh air and this is also risky as the stale air can cause serious health issues as well.
Correctly designed reptile enclosures allow for ample air exchange to ensure that there is enough ventilation so that fresh air can be drawn inside, to replace the hot stale air. Our designs incorporate a row of front vents as well as a full aluminum screen top with our unique customizable humidity panel.
