🐶 𝗠𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦 🐶

One of the most common queries I receive from clients after they take their puppy home is how to prevent biting and nipping. Here are some tips that may be helpful

•Redirect biting behavior: Whenever your puppy bites you, redirect their attention to a chew toy or another appropriate object to chew on.

•Remove yourself: Just remove yourself if they continue mouthing you

•Avoid rough play: Avoid playing games like wrestling, tug-of-war, and keep away with your puppy, as they can encourage biting and nipping behavior

•Provide plenty of exercise and playtime: Puppies need plenty of exercise and playtime to release their energy and reduce the urge to bite or nip.

•Socialize your puppy: Socialize your puppy with other dogs and people so they learn to interact appropriately and not use biting or nipping as a means of play or communication.

Did you know even your puppy could be getting overstimulated? One way to avoid overstimulating your puppy is to give them 1 hard toy and 1 soft toy a day, then rotate. This teaches them what is okay for them to play with. 🐶 🐾
