When I combined a weak hive with a strong one, not all the ladies wanted to move. More than a month later this is what I found in the old empty box. This is what they do if left unsupervised. Guess I’ll give it another go.

When we uncap the honey comb little bits of honey stick to the wax. We can’t get it all off so the bees get an afternoon treat.

It's harvest time. Slow process but pretty rewarding:
- Remove the frames from the hive
- Cut off the wax caps
- Spin the frames in the extractor
- Remove the wax cappings and large bits including bees who decide to go swimming.
- Rinse and repeat.

It’s almost harvest time. The girls are cranking out the honey. I can barely lift a box which weigh in at somewhere between 50 and 70lbs.

One hive swarmed today but was too far up the tree for me to recapture. They hung out all day waiting for their realtor bees to find a new home and then they left. Once they all agree on the new place, they take off together and build a new colony. They didn’t even wave to me on the way.

I did not know this. I have local honey in my tea. Always using a metal spoon.

We are changing with the times! Our Board of Directors has approved a change of name to Grand's Honey Company. Our Chairwoman, Miss D2, said "the initial system has served us well but does not adjust well to future growth of our board". Same bees, same taste, just a fancy new label.
