The Foundation raises funds to provide discretionary care and treatment to the companion animals held at the Macon County Animal Control & Care Center.

The Foundation provided major funding to renovate and equip the Center.

Captain Sparrow is still in foster waiting on his forever home! He was confiscated for cruelty back in December of 2022 and became available for adoption in August of this year. This sweet 6-year-old requires a special home, like one with no other pets and one that can help him with his separation anxiety, but he is so worth it! He is a total couch potato, snuggle bug, kissing machine!

Precious Violet is still waiting for her forever home. She has really come out of her shell in the past few weeks, winning the hearts of staff and volunteers. She loves to meet new people, playtime is a favorite, but the absolute best thing in the world is belly rubs. She is doing better each day with her leash manners, and she enjoys going out for walks where she can sniff her surroundings and play in the leaves. Violet seems like she would thrive in a household with another dog or a kid to play with. She is just 8 months old and has some growing to do, but currently weighs 32 pounds.

Fabio was picked up by wardens after receiving a call about a stray shepherd. Unfortunately, he didn't have tags or a chip and no one came to claim him. He is a big puppy who absolutely loves to play. He is full of energy and enjoys spending time outside running through the yards and chasing toys. He doesn't have much for leash manners, but he is very motivated by treats, so training him shouldn't be too much of a task. If you're looking for a new adventure buddy, maybe someone to run or hike with, Fabio could be your new best friend. At an estimated age of just 1 year old, Fabio weighs 50 pounds.

Mars was recently surrendered to the shelter with his brother. Australian Shepherds are active, working dogs and adopters should take this into consideration before committing. Mars walks well on a leash, enjoys going for walks, but really loves running off leash outside. He was having a blast kicking through all the leaves, even trying to chase some in the wind. He is very responsive to calls, treats and toys. He is a big love bug who adores people, especially when he can give hugs and kisses. His previous owner did note he can be hesitant towards large and loud men, and those who approach too quickly, though we have not seen this at the shelter. Mars is just 4 years old and weighs about 36 pounds.

Bruno and his brother were recently surrendered to the shelter. Bruno is a very outgoing boy who loves to meet new people, though he can be a little hesitant around larger, loud men or if approached too quickly his previous owner states, though we have not seen this at the shelter. He loves spending time outside and walks well on a leash. He is super motivated by toys and treats and seems to have a little training under his belt. Bruno is adorable, but that should not be all that you look at. He is an Australian Shepherd; this breed needs to work. They have to have something to keep their mind busy and focused. They will dig, they will try and herd you. It would be an excellent idea to do some research on the breed before committing. Bruno is just 4 years old and weighs 41 pounds.

The time has come for Duck Norris to find his new home. We know next to nothing about this guy aside from the fact that he is pretty mellow and enjoys spending time with people. He doesn't fly and as far as ducks go, he seems to be fairly clean. He has a very rough age estimate of 3 years old. There were quite a few people on his previous post stating they would give him a home. If you are interested, please CALL the shelter at (217) 425-4508 ext 6 to arrange.

Skipper was brought to the shelter as a stray, underweight and skin issues. He didn't have a chip and went unclaimed on his hold, so he was processed for the adoption floor. He definitely loves spending time outside, sniffing around and enjoying the fresh air. He walks fairly well on a leash and is pretty responsive to treat temptations. His skin is clearing up nicely with some medication and proper diet, but he likely has allergies that will need attention every now and again. Skipper is thought to be around 4 years old and weighs about 57 pounds.

Warrior came to MCAC as a stray back in the fall of 2021. His owner was notified he was at the shelter, but he was never reclaimed. He was on the adoption floor for quite some time before someone from his previous life found out he was looking for a new home and came to adopt him.
He was picked up again as a stray at the end of September this year. His new owner was notified he was at MCAC, came in to ID him, said he was coming back to reclaim, but never did.
This guy needs a break! He is such a lovable pooch. He enjoys going for nice long walks followed by snuggles in the chairs afterwards. He is strong, but overall walks well on the leash. He is very responsive to treats and toys, though he doesn't respond all that much to any commands or "tricks". He loves people but hates being stuck in the kennel, so his presence leaves a much to be desired by most folks. On his last impound, he had a playdate with another dog his size that went very well, though we do have notes of his resource guarding on occasion (we have not noticed this go-round).
If you are looking for someone happy to jump right up on the sofa with you and give you all the snuggles you can handle, Warrior is the one for you. Warrior is 5 years old and weighs around 75 pounds.

Siamese cat Malcolm

**ADOPTED** While Malcolm may not be in the best shape of his life - coming to the shelter as an underweight stray covered in hairloss - he doesn't let it slow him down any. He is residing in the cat colony, and between visitors and making friends with the other felines, he found a new toy that he absolutely loves! Malcolm is thought to be a young adult and just wants snuggles and time to sunbathe.

Sweet Marzipan took a field trip to the Maroa Fall Festival and car show today! She made friends with everyone, giving hugs and kisses while enjoying all of the attention and some snacks too! She would make an excellent family pet!

Adoptable Samuel had a day out at Passion Church for the fall festival and car show. Samuel is a wonderful boy who needs a loving home and responsible owner to keep him safe from going on solo adventures! He walks well in a leash, and loved everyone he met today. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him!

**ADOPTED** Young Joby was dropped off at the shelter as a stray who went unclaimed during his hold. After being processed, his vibrant personality won him a place in the cat colony to hangout with all the other residents. More times than not you can catch him trying to get the other to play with some sort of toy. He will be quick to greet you at the door, seeing a new friend and playmate. Joby is thought to be just under 1 year old.

**ADOPTED** Herschel is a 2 year old goofball who has called the shelter home for 37 days. He's more than ready to find a new place to call home full of loving family and LOTS of toys.
