Thank you to everyone who donated to MCAC the past month. These are just SOME of the many, many goodies that made their way into the lobby. We love and appreciate all of you so very much.

Honey Tree is a very social little dude who was found as a stray and went unclaimed over his hold. His overly friendly personality won him a pot in the cat colony in no time flat. He is the first to greet visitors to the colony and stays by your side the duration of the visit. He loves getting pets and ear scritches and will surely curl up in your lap for some love when given the chance. He seems to do well with other cats, sharing toys and nap spots and will likely do well in a multi-cat household. Honey Tree is thought to be around 2 years old and weighed in at just over 9 pounds.

More Christmas activities at MCAC! I'm not sure who had more fun, the staff and volunteers or the dogs! After some much needed time spent outside with volunteers on Saturday, each dog got a chance to pick a special Christmas toy. Some were a little unsure at first, looking to their human friends for approval, some had to claim the entire pile as their own, and some dove right in, grabbing as many toys as they could. It was such a great time! Thank you to everyone who recently donated toys to the pets at MCAC, I think it's safe to say they were well received. **There are a lot of pictures, but it's worth the scroll.

Janette Louise came to the shelter as a stray back in September. After going unclaimed on her stray hold, she was moved up to the adoption floor where he has been patiently waiting for a new home. After just a couple weeks in a kennel, her outgoing personality earned her a place in the cat colony, where she has done great making friends with the other cats. She is often seen snuggled up next to others taking naps throughout the day. She is a bit of a talker and when you enter the colony, you usually hear her before seeing her. Just a youngster, Janette Louise seems like she will make herself right at home anywhere she goes.

Kunaal Kapur was brought to the shelter as a stray and went unclaimed on his hold. He's a pretty laid-back guy who spends most of his time napping and kitty watching. He is very welcoming of pets and affection when laying in his kennel. When he comes out for a visit, he spends his first bit stretching his legs and checking on the other residents he can see. He has not had a chance in the cat colony yet, mainly due to his introverted personality, but he seems like he would likely do well with a proper introduction. Kunaal Kapur is thought to be just 13 months old, weighing 8 pounds.

Roy has really started to let loose and show his personality in foster! Now to find him a FOREVER home that will love every goofy bit of him. He's been a resident of MCAC since MAY! Wouldn't a home be the best Christmas gift?

It has been 2 years since Cap was removed from his unfit "home" and began living at MCAC. He has had a few interested parties but not nearly as many as this loving boy deserves. While he does need an single-pet household, he can guarantee to be your best friend and most loyal companion for the rest of his days. Cap is residing in a foster home, but is available for adoption. His fee has already been paid for, for anyone willing to give him the best life possible.

All Captain Sparrow wants for Christmas is a family to call his own!
Captain weighs around 40 lbs, is potty trained and loves to snuggle. We’re searching for a loving home where he will be the only pet.
He is available for adoption through Macon County Animal Control & Care. You can read more about him on our website.

Rhea went into foster this week after too many days in the shelter. This sweet girl was breaking down and having some quality of life issues; seeing her play just warms the heart! Someone give this lovely girl a chance!

**ADOPTED**

Oscar was surrendered to the shelter after his owner's health took a turn and ended up in the hospital. While he wasn't the slightest bit social upon arrival at the shelter, he has slowly come to accept visitors and is doing much better overall. When someone new comes into his room, he is quick to pop his head up or approach the front of the kennel in hopes of pets. He is a mellow boy who would be thrilled to spend his years napping on your couch or in a sun ray. MCAC was told Oscar previously lived with cats and dogs. He is 2 years old and weighs 8 pounds.

Parker was picked up by wardens after being called in as a stray. He had no tags, no microchip and no one came looking for him. During his hold, staff had some questions about his ability to hear, and during processing, Doc determined his is an older dog, fully deaf and does seem to have some "old man problems", like muscle weakness. He may not be able to hear, but he sure knows when someone is excited, giving kisses and hopping along right with them. He is very motivated by treats, but we have not found any hand signals that he is familiar with. He may not be perfect, but he'll be a perfect fit for someone! He has an amazing personality and absolutely adores anyone who's willing to give him some time. Parker is estimated to be 7 years old and weighed in at 54 pounds.

Beautiful, brown-eyed Thea was picked up as a stray back in the beginning of August. Somehow, this delightful young lady has had very few visitors. Depending on the day, her kennel presence can leave a little to be desired, but no animal should be judged by this. The ones barking and jumping aren't "crazy" or "bad dogs" like we hear every day, they're just trying to get your attention! Thea loves to be in the spotlight! You take her outside to play and she just wants to be by your side getting pets and treats. Last month a staff member took her into foster to see how she did in a home setting; she is high energy but knows when to calm it down, she is a big napper and will snuggle up in your blankets, she can be a lot for older dogs, but does well with someone matching her energy level, but she really shouldn't go to a home with small critters. Thea is in the top 5 longest term residents at the shelter right now, calling MCAC home for the past 136 days. Wouldn't it be great if we got her a home of her very own before the new year?

Christmas festivities started early today after a lovely phone call from ADM - an offer of turkey left after an employee luncheon. How great is that, thinking of the animals at the shelter! All the dogs and cats (unavailable/strays not pictured) loved their little treat, and there is enough for round two tomorrow!
Thank you so much ADM!

Dimitri is an active little guy who was brought to the shelter as a stray at the end of October. After going unclaimed, he was moved to the adoption floor. His active lifestyle got him a place in the lobby, where he roams around all morning before opening. Right now, his absolute favorite place to nap is under the Christmas tree - BONUS - he hasn't tried to climb in it! Dimitri has a powerful personality, but with proper (slow) introduction, he does well with other cats. Dimitri is thought to be around 2 years old.
