Spencer working on socialization and desensitization around children. He previously had bitten a child and the county had to get involved. We work with owners and their dogs to help help their pups become more comfortable and accepting of all types of stressors so that bites do not happen or are less likely to happen. Spencer has come a long way from biting me at our consultation so we are hopeful for his and his owners future success. Now is the time for his owner to learn and put into practice what we are going to work on so that Spencer is never put into a situation to bite again.

Spencer has been hard at work learning to tolerate the stresses of life and the stresses of meeting new people. He came to us a biter that had bitten Children and Adults. Progress has been made and the true work will begin when he goes back home. Extremely proud of this guy and all involved!

Spencer has been working on learning to move with us and how to Sit on command. Here Trainer Anthony is working on teaching Spencer what Sit means by applying light leash pressure upwards and saying the command. When he Sits Anthony is releasing pressure and praising Spencer! Spencer is two and he hasn’t had to listen and follow directions like this before. Developing his ability to focus and follow direction will be a big priority for us while he is with us. We’ve got work to do but this is where we are at!

This guy is Spencer, he’s with us for our 19 Day Behavioral Modification Resident Training Program. Spencer has a few bites under his belt including a child. Follow along as we begin helping him understand how to handle stress in more healthy way and how to navigate difficult situations with proper, clear communication.

Sweet Pea, swell and Eavy working during a group session yesterday. Sweet Pea struggles with reactivity to dogs and we are helping her work on that reactivity by giving her positive experiences around them. Here all of the dogs are holding their place command while Eavy moves around them before returning to Place. My praise gets Sweet Pea to get off her mat so I use some spacial pressure to help move her back to her mat. We use physical and verbal praise to reward our dogs to let them know we like what they’re doing.
