Happy !
We are with the goats today because they wanted to tell everyone about their first field trip happening tomorrow! Larry, Mo, Curly, and our mini horse Candy Corn will be at HAWSfest at Sussex Village Park from 12-3. For more info go to hawspets.org/HawsFest/.

Come see what it looks like on top of Ranger! He was trained primarily western, so that is the saddle you see today.

Did you know? HAWS has opened up intermediate-level horse camps for ages 10-14 this summer! Participants in this camp are expected to know how to catch a horse, lead, and groom independently. The camp will be focused on gaining more independence under saddle and strengthening their horsemanship skills on and off the ground. We are offering both a two day camp (August 14-15) and week long camp (July 29-August 2).

Everyone wish one of the members of our HAWS Herd, Ranger, a happy birthday! 🎂 🎊 🎉 He is turning 5️⃣ today!

Did you know? Ranger was one of the first horses at the HAWS Schallock Center for Animals. Our Equine and Animal Care Specialist, Makayla, trained him during her last semester of college, in which he became a prospect for the equine program here. Now at Schallock, he is seen as the class clown, often goofing around in the pasture with his pal Skittles.

Mike and Ike were inherited to us when HAWS took over the Schallock Center property. Mike and Ike are about 8-9 years old. They have both become more social and willing to interact with people thanks to the help of this past year’s summer camp.

Happy Birthday to our Miniature Horse Candy Corn!🎂 🎉

Candy Corn is a dun pinto, mare Miniature Horse. Candy Corn is owned by a close member of the HAWS family and is living at the Schallock Center. Prior to coming here, Candy Corn and her owner lived at a farm in the area. Because of her charming personality she helps HWS with education programs and events such as birthday parties.
