Kimberly's Dragons

Kimberly's Dragons Bearded Dragons Thank you for your purchase at Kimberly's Dragons below is information on your Bearded Dragon. and turned off at 9:00 p.m.

Below is how your Bearded Dragon was cared for and the requirements to a healthy dragon. Lighting: UVA and UVB Lights are turned on everyday at 7:00 a.m. Proper lighting is key to a healthy dragon. You will need a uvb light and a basking light which can be found at pet stores or online. The basking light needs to be 6 inches above the basking rock and the uvb needs to be 17 inches above dragon.

Do not use heat rocks just a basic rock or one from pet store. The lights need to be at least 12 hours on and 12 hours off. The Temperature and Humidity is another important factor. The temperature needs to be around 88 to 90 degrees in basking area and 75 degrees on the cool side. The humidity needs to be around 35 no higher than 50. If the humidity is kept too high it will cause an upper respitory infection. Remove water bowl when lights are turned off. You also need to give your bearded dragon vitamins- A multivitamins and Calcium Supplement. Three times a week which can be purchase online or any petstore. You can use Rep-Cal Herptivite and Rep-Cal Phosphorus-Free Calcium with Vit.D3. Just sprinkle them on greens or insects. Also liquid vitamins can be used instead of powder but make sure to give the right amount for the weight and age of dragon. You will also need to give your dragon a bath twice a week in warm water for about 15 minutes. Make sure your dragon has been in its enclosure at least 2 hours before bathing. They need to be misted twice a day. Try not to over mist because this will cause the humidity to increase. Do not mist 2 hours before turning lights off. When bathing, you can use a soft toothbrush. Also you can add pedialyte to the water to help keep your dragon hydrated just mix it in with the water. Diet is extremely important. A good balance for your dragon is super worms, crickets, mealworms, romaine, mustard greens, collard greens and turnip greens. It is unsafe to feed your dragon kale, spinach and iceberg lettuce. Never feed your dragon anything larger than the width of their eyes and also remove any live insect before turning lights off. Before feeding your dragon make sure the lights have been on at least two hours. For evening feeding, keep lights on and allow them two hours in enclosure to properly digest their food. With improper digestion, your dragon can become impacted. You can also feed your dragon fruit but I recommend only giving once a week. You can look online to see other choices of insect, vegetables and fruit. A juvenile dragon (birth to 18 months) should be offered insects twice day and vegetables available at all times. Remove them when lights are turned off. An adult bearded dragon (18 months or older) should be offered insects three times a week and vegetables available at all times. When feeding your dragon vegetables, do not feed them stalks and cut into pieces to prevent choking. Recommended enclosure size- 20 gallon for small bearded dragons and 55 gallon for adult beardie. I do not recommend using any sand or dirt because they can ingest it when eating and cause a great risk for impaction. The proper flooring for your dragon is newspaper, paper towels, tile or shelf liner (non adhesive). If you plan to build your dragon’s enclosure, do not use pine or cedar (these are toxic) or any wood that contains chemical. The proper wood enclosure to use is birch or oak. To seal the enclosure, use a water based sealer (brush on) and allow it to dry over night. In a lot of cases, a beardie needs time to adjust to its new home. This may cause them not to eat for a couple of days. The first couple of days try not to handle the beardie too much giving it time to adjust. Below is how your Bearded Dragon was cared for and a list of item's to help with your setup. Lights are turned on at 7:00 a.m. Morning feedings start at 10:30 a.m. - Sprinkle vegetables with Repashy Superfoods Calcium Plus every Tuesday and Saturday.
