Every year we see thousands of animals go to new homes and are always thrilled to receive updates with everything they're up to with their new families! Tilly was adopted in August and well, we'll let her human Leara tell you the rest 😌

"I adopted Tilly from you all August 24th. Little did I know I was going to leave with my new best friend that day. I was told her back story which naturally was pretty little since she was found on the streets with a neck incision and how she was returned from a past adopter after they had her a couple of weeks.

Tilly is incredible. She is intelligent and responds to some German commands and English commands, she knows sit, wait, shake, come, load up, heel (on leash and off leash in our home), stay, and she is learning to seek. She is a great road trip buddy and best girls date a girl could ask for. She is calm, alert, and chill. She wakes me up with gentle kisses and loves to play chase me on the snow. One day I was crying and she came over and kissed away my tears.

Since having her she was my guest at an outdoor wedding out of state, has gone hiking all over from crested butte to local areas outside of Denver, she’s been to Great Sand Dunes National park and New Mexico. At night she lays in front of the door and patrols to make sure all is well. She has enjoyed homemade dog friendly pumpkin lattes, chicken broth dog friendly martinis, and a variety of other specialty treats.

Thank you to you all for bringing me the gift of Tilly- the gift of love and loyalty back into my life and a special shout-out to Angel for their help when I was there."

When Harriet – a tiny, 2-month-old sphynx kitten – came to the League’s San Luis Valley Animal Center in August, her journey to true healing finally began. In addition to being fragile and underweight, she presented with a recently removed right eye and a remaining eye painfully enlarged and diseased.

Because she was found as a stray, it was impossible to know her full history or the exact cause of her condition. But one thing was certain – Harriet needed urgent, specialized care to ease her discomfort and give her the best chance at a happy and healthy life.

What's that we hear? It's not Santa's sleigh with 8 tiny reindeer, but we have one sweet pitty named Cypress who is hoping his people are on their way (preferably in a car but we guess a sleigh is okay too 🤭) to bring him home!

Cypress is a sweet 10 month old pup who is definitely on the nice list and his top wish is to find a person he can play, snuggle, and of course, provide lots and lots of treats! This cutie can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up he'll be at a permanent place by your side.

Cypress is currently spending time in one of our foster homes so give us a call to schedule a meeting at the shelter!

Meet Odie! This very distinguished gentleman is ready to bring his fancy self right into your home 😌 He loves going on walks, but could use some help with working on pulling, playing with toys, and doing enrichment activities that really work his brain!

We believe that Odie is deaf, but that doesn't slow him down! At the time of adoption our staff will advise you on ways to communicate with Odie so you can keep him safe from potential risks he can't hear.

Meet Honey! This girl who is, sweet as honey 🤭, is 2 years old and has stolen the hearts of our staff at Buddy Center, specifically Animal Care Associate Haley! Here's what she had to say:

"Honey is one of the sweetest dogs in the whole shelter! She has stolen the hearts of many of our staff members through her goofy antics. She greets every person she meets with a wiggly, pitty smile! Her favorite pastimes include chewing on bones, going on long walks, and snuggling with her humans!"

Honey is a very gentle dog who has done well in visits with children and other dogs, so make sure to bring the whole family in for a visit! It was a bitter afternoon in April when animal care assistant Aliyah and her family were taking a walk with their dogs around their 5-acre property in Colorado’s San Luis Valley.

Before long, they noticed strange sounds and movements coming from the bottom of a nearby hill. As they approached to investigate, they couldn’t believe their eyes – a black and white dog, now known as Olive, had somehow gotten her head stuck inside a very heavy and rusted metal pipe.

Aliyah and her sister were stunned, but knew the dog’s fragile life was in their hands alone. As luck would have it, Aliyah was just the right person to save the day.

Nova has been a bit of a frequent flyer on our socials and she's still looking for a family who is ready for a sweet semi-senior to come into their lives! Nova is an 8 year old life of the party who is currently taking spending time with one of our fosters, who has given us a great update on how she's doing!

"Nova has decompressed and as you can see from the pictures, is doing amazing 🥰 After a slow introduction to our resident pet, including a 30 minute walk, both pups settled, had dinner, and practiced the art of doing nothing 😌"

It's the moment we've all been waiting for! It's time for Tails on the Tower and your pets are officially in lights for all of Denver to see 🥰 If you are unable to make it downtown for the 9news Parade of Lights, the Tails on the Tower slideshow will run until around midnight tonight. During this period, a series of photos will cycle and repeat every 14 minutes, so your pet’s picture will appear more than once!
