Kicking off this week with some feel good vibes 🥰

Petal, now Tula, came to us as a stray last month and was quickly adopted by her new person, Lessley!

"We came to the shelter to help another dog get adopted and came across "Petal". We had a meet and greet but our current dog was grumpy and it was recommended that it may not be a good fit. We went home sad but understanding that it was best for Petal.

A few days later, Petal was still posted for adoption, and we couldn't get her out of our minds. We returned to the shelter without our current dog and applied to adopt Petal. The wonderful adoption staff was able to make an exception for us due to some extenuating circumstances. We took Petal home and slowly introduced her to our other dog. A few days later, they were best friends.

We want to thank the shelter for all of the love and kindness they provide to animals on a daily basis, and for going out on a limb to make an exception for our adoption. Petal, now "Tula", is happy and thriving in her forever home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"

We love to see adopted animals thriving and love getting these updates! If you've adopted from us in the past and want to share your story, DM us or visit our website and submit yours today!

Meet Milk Dud!

This happy boy is a sweet and shy guy who can take a minute to warm up to people but once he does he wants nothing more than affection. Milk Dud was brought to us by our friends at NOCO Humane so he could get a few more eyes on him, hopefully one set of those eyes being his new home!

Milk Dud knows shake (as shown in photo 1 😌) and is the gentlest treat taker according to our volunteers! He's not a big fan of fetch but loves to walk and sniff while occasionally circling back for pets in the play yard.

Because Milk Dud wants to be the center of your universe, we are recommending he be in a home without young children or other pets. Kick off 2025 with some excitement and stop by to visit with Milk Dud at our Leslie A. Malone Center in Denver!

For veterinary students at CSU, the Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur is a one-of-a-kind classroom. The League's externship program in partnership with CSU's Veterinary Teaching Hospital offers two-week rotations for fourth-year student externs so they can gain invaluable hands-on experience before they graduate. Our veterinary externs are able to perform examinations, determine and execute diagnostic plans, and create treatment regimens during their rotation period.

Externs are encouraged to take the lead in each of the cases they work on, but clinical instructors are always present to help guide and supervise them along the way. This program is made possible thanks to the support of Hill’s Pet Nutrition, allowing our externs to make a world of difference to thousands of pets and owners throughout the year.

As we bid farewell to 2024, we can't wait to see what our externs accomplish in 2025!

Every year we see thousands of animals go to new homes and are always thrilled to receive updates with everything they're up to with their new families! Tilly was adopted in August and well, we'll let her human Leara tell you the rest 😌

"I adopted Tilly from you all August 24th. Little did I know I was going to leave with my new best friend that day. I was told her back story which naturally was pretty little since she was found on the streets with a neck incision and how she was returned from a past adopter after they had her a couple of weeks.

Tilly is incredible. She is intelligent and responds to some German commands and English commands, she knows sit, wait, shake, come, load up, heel (on leash and off leash in our home), stay, and she is learning to seek. She is a great road trip buddy and best girls date a girl could ask for. She is calm, alert, and chill. She wakes me up with gentle kisses and loves to play chase me on the snow. One day I was crying and she came over and kissed away my tears.

Since having her she was my guest at an outdoor wedding out of state, has gone hiking all over from crested butte to local areas outside of Denver, she’s been to Great Sand Dunes National park and New Mexico. At night she lays in front of the door and patrols to make sure all is well. She has enjoyed homemade dog friendly pumpkin lattes, chicken broth dog friendly martinis, and a variety of other specialty treats.

Thank you to you all for bringing me the gift of Tilly- the gift of love and loyalty back into my life and a special shout-out to Angel for their help when I was there."

We love to see adopted animals thriving and love getting these updates! If you've adopted from us in the past and want to share your story, DM us or visit our link in bio and submit yours today!

When Harriet – a tiny, 2-month-old sphynx kitten – came to the League’s San Luis Valley Animal Center in August, her journey to true healing finally began. In addition to being fragile and underweight, she presented with a recently removed right eye and a remaining eye painfully enlarged and diseased.

Because she was found as a stray, it was impossible to know her full history or the exact cause of her condition. But one thing was certain – Harriet needed urgent, specialized care to ease her discomfort and give her the best chance at a happy and healthy life.

Because of you, animals like Harriet are able to heal, gain confidence, and forge lasting connections with people they love. Read more about Harriet's journey and road to recovery by visiting our website.
