🐾 Arthritis in Dogs🐾

As our furry friends age, they may begin to suffer with arthritis, a common condition that affects their joints and mobility. Arthritis can be hard to spot since our pets can't tell us when they're in pain. Knowing the symptoms can help you take action to improve your pet's comfort and quality of life.

Signs of Arthritis in Dogs

• Stiffness, especially after resting or sleeping

• Difficulty getting up, climbing stairs, or jumping

• Limping or favoring one leg

• Reluctance to walk, run, or play

• Decreased interest in exercise

• Behavioral changes, such as irritability or withdrawal

• Muscle loss around the affected joints

👩‍⚕️When to Visit the Vet👩‍⚕️

If you notice these signs, it’s important to schedule a veterinary appointment. Arthritis can be managed, but early intervention is key to preventing further discomfort.

Innovative treatments like Librela are transforming arthritis care. These monthly injections work by targeting pain specifically in the joints, preventing potential long-term side effects that can come with other pain management treatments.

Why We Recommend It:

• Provides long-lasting pain relief

• Improves mobility and overall quality of life

• Minimally invasive and easy to administer

Many of our older patients have experienced remarkable improvements with these treatments. We've seen dogs go from struggling to walk to enjoying their daily strolls again, wagging tails and all!

While the internet is full of information about Librela, not all of it is accurate. Trust your veterinarian’s advice first for the best care tailored to your pet’s needs.

If you suspect your dog has arthritis or if you’d like to learn more about Librela and how it can help, give us a call to schedule an evaluation. Together, we can help your pet stay happy, active, and comfortable in their golden years!

🎄🎅Holiday Pet Safety Tips For This Christmas and New Year🎅🎄

⛄️The holiday season is a time for joy and celebration, but it can also bring potential hazards for our beloved pets. Follow these tips to ensure your furry friends stay safe and happy during Christmas and New Year:

Christmas Safety Tips

🎄 Decorations:

Secure your Christmas tree to prevent tipping.

Avoid tinsel, as it can cause intestinal blockages if swallowed.

Keep fragile ornaments out of reach.

🌷 Plants:

Poinsettias, holly, and mistletoe can be toxic to pets. Opt for pet-safe alternatives or place them where pets can’t reach.

🍇 Food Hazards:

Chocolate, raisins, grapes, avocados, garlic, onions, nutmeg, and many other human foods are toxic to pets.

Avoid giving pets table scraps, especially fatty or spiced foods.

Watch out for bones, which can splinter and cause injuries.

🔌 Electrical Cords:

Keep cords and lights out of reach to prevent chewing and possible electrocution.

New Year’s Safety Tips

🎆 Fireworks:

Many pets are frightened by fireworks. Create a quiet, secure space for them during celebrations.

Consider using calming products like pheromone diffusers or anxiety products as recommended by the veterinary.

👯‍♀️ Loud Noises and Guests:

Loud music and crowded spaces can stress pets. Ensure they have a calm, safe retreat.

Monitor entrances to prevent pets from escaping during parties.

🍾 Alcohol and Party Supplies:

Alcohol is toxic to pets. Clean up spills and empty glasses promptly.

Keep party decorations like confetti and noisemakers away from curious pets.

General Tips

Microchip and ID Tags: Ensure your pet’s ID tag and microchip information are up to date in case they escape.

Emergency Kit: Make sure you have our contact information (337-463-2838) and the information for the emergency after-hours vet clinic closest to you.
