It was so great to see everyone out enjoying the beautiful day at Whiterock Conservancy! #beautifulday
October is one of my favorite months to ride. With the leaves turning into a fiery kaleidoscope and a hint of crispness in the air, it's prime time for trail riding. What's your favorite time of year to ride?

Horses are a labor of love that fills our hearts with hoofbeats of joy. Happy Labor Day to all the dedicated horse owners who pour their heart and soul into caring for these magnificent creatures.
If you need to ride or work with your horse, do so during the cooler hours of the morning or evening. Remember, horses can drink a significant amount of water in hot weather, so make sure they always have access to clean, cool water. Check their water sources frequently to ensure they don't run dry.
What tips do you have for your fellow equestrians to beat the heat?

A little #fridayfun! As good as my girl is, she still has her days. On this day, it was a downed log that got her attention. It was warm and we were towards the end of the ride so she decided it wasn't nearly as spooky as she originally thought it was. Sometimes I wish I could see what they think they see.
I finally had the opportunity to visit Lake of Three Fires in Bedford, Iowa. This lovely park has non-electric and electric camping, water and restrooms. Hitching rails and pens are available for the horses. With more than 10 miles of multi-use trails, winding around the lake, through wetlands and prairie, this park did not disappoint!

Trail riders might encounter a bridge crossing in their path.
Always ensure the bridge has been designed with horses in mind; a small bridge built to carry people may be too weak, or even too slippery for a horse. It may be safer to dismount and lead your horse over some bridges.
With proper preparation, going over a bridge is just another stride in your journey down the trail.
I invite you to come join this journey with me to #rideiowatrails
Did the dragonfly work to keep the deerflies away?
Trail Blooper! My goofy goober thought he was going to spook at a squinny, but ended up tripping on his own feet instead. I like how he just continues on as if nothing happened.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July.
