My sweet Godson, Pepe, took his last breath today.
He’s a client pup, and his Mom chose me to be his Godmother if he was to succeed her in death.
It was an honor to have such a Strong bond with my little Pepeto.

My little guy was rescued from a hoarding situation in Puerto Rico.
He was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and a collapsed trachea around 8 months ago.
We only had him for under 2 years.
We did everything to make him comfortable for his remaining time with us.
He especially struggled today.
His Mom rushed him to the ER, and his heart stopped the second the staff went to take him out of her arms to check him over. 😢😥

No more pain and suffering.
Rest easy my little guy.
Auntie loves you so much!!!!

We pulled our precious, 6 month old, Ferdinand from Chicago Animal Care and Control on July 10th.

Since then we have learned that he is the trifecta ::
✅ Dog Friendly
✅ Cat Friendly
✅ Friendly with Children

Ferdinand's fosters have lots of great things to say about him. They write, "Ferdinand is a sweet, quiet, loving little guy. He gets along great with our other dogs, and loves to play with them. He has lots of puppy energy but will settle down for a nap after a walk, play, or training session. He's a big snuggler and makes cute little happy grumbles when getting pets. He gazes up adoringly when he gets belly rubs and has the cutest little face. Ferdinand is a happy, playful puppy that is quickly learning appropriate manners and he is going to be a wonderful companion to his future family. "

Dear Friends, we just received our first phone call regarding newborn fawns, therefore it is the time of the year to post this. Deer deliver their newborns in the strangest of places! Residents will find them and be concerned about a newborn deer on their lawn, in their garden, under the azaleas, etc. Most call because they think the fawn is in peril and Mom is nowhere to be found. Well, Mom is actually off feeding and helping to keep predators away. Those who call ask what they should do for the fawn ... Leave it alone, do not touch, move or attempt to feed it. Here's the scoop. Deer are NOT like horses. They do not have their legs under them immediately and need time to rest after birth. Horses get up and go that's the sign of a healthy horse. A healthy fawn will curl up, nap most of the day and move their heads. They have no scent and predators cannot find them unless humans interfere. Mom leaves during the day for 2 primary reasons: to feed, and to keep her scent a distance from the fawn. Mom will come back (unless something tragic happens to her), but don't expect her until dusk and certainly don't expect her if humans are hovering around. If you are fortunate enough to have the gift of a fawn please enjoy the experience, respect Mother Nature and let the Mom do what comes naturally. She will move the fawn daily so you may see it in different locations. Please share, thank you.

Please be aware and check before lighting fires.
I’d suggest be cautious mowing too, you never know if there’s a bunny nest, or other helpless critter.
Be safe during this warm season.

Please do not start fires in fire pits or burn piles without checking first to see if there is a rabbit nest. Last night, after normal hours, we admitted two baby bunnies that had been burned when the unsuspecting homeowner started a fire in their fire pit. They heard screaming and put out the fire. Some of the baby bunnies scattered and hopefully were not badly injured. The one in the picture is currently in our care. One of them was completely charred from head to tail, was in agonal respiration and hypothermic upon admission, and we humanely euthanized it last night. We are not posting a picture of that baby because it is absolutely gruesome.

The people that started the fire felt horrible. They are animal lovers and extremely kind people. They simply didn't know better.
