Training tracks
Any time I get into a tough terrain tracking are Boone will start doing circles starting small and progressively getting bigger until he takes the line. It’s fun learning your dogs and I feel will definitely pay off next season. We jumped 2 bedded deer heading into this marsh and he still chose to stay on the line.
Ran Crockett on a a practice line today, the track was right around 20 hrs old and about a half mile. Not one restart or correction which helps me build confidence with him.
Ran the boys on some practice lines today and they both did great. Consistency is key, can’t wait for the 2024 season!!!

Tracking with these dudes is likely #1 on the list of our favorite things to do with them. We are a household agreeable that there’s not many feelings comparable to that of helping folks with a recovery they’d lost hope on finding before we showed up to assist. Connections made in this way have been a vessel to creating what we know will be lifelong friendships and perhaps this is the greatest blessing of it all.
That said, tracking accompanies a full list of other things for a reason. Truly, there isn’t much of anything we do without them. This includes vacations, day trips, and really any other activity otherwise. 24/7, 365, in/out of tracking season we netflix & chill, army crawl into our honey holes looking for morels, celebrate birthdays, slay walleye at our secret spots on Little Bay de Noc, get chased out of the gated subdivision next to us we use as a pass through on our walks. (That only happened once, and we maintain utilization of the easement only by the way.. 😋)
With that, you’ll likely understand why we simply have absolutely no priority higher than their well-being and why that’s without exception, ever.
If you know us, you may be aware we keep loose general guidelines and offer exceptions in almost every other case- distance we’re willing to travel, time of day/night willing to track, time duration we’re willing to track, etc. (All with a healthy awareness we’ll likely always find a reason to break our “rule”anyway to come out and track for you. 😆)
We really appreciate everyone’s understanding in rare event one or both of these dirty hounds are on a rest day. Please know if this is ever a dissatisfier to you we totally understand, but promise with 100% certainty you’re in line behind Boone and/or Crock who despite needing it, absolutely don’t understand the concept and hate it even more. 😂
Workin’ hard, but always playing harder. 😎
Over here just killin’ time until opener with a “How it started ➡️ How it was ➡️ How it’s going” photomontage of our guy, Boone. 👌🏼🦌🩸🐶
These garmin collars are definitely allowing me to build more trust with these hounds being off lead. Crockett has been fine even when I didn’t have the garmin gps system, but with Boone I still have flashbacks on the time I chased him through our subdivision and literally football tackled him in someone’s yard 😂😂😂
This boat isn’t big enough for the three of us 😂
One hound household: “how cool will it be when we have two and they bay in synchrony? Seriously CANNOT wait. ☺️💕”
Current state: intermittently ALL day, EVERYDAY.
It’s fine though… We can all laugh together….😑😩😂😂❤️
“Dear Lord baby Jesus, it’s us, Boone and Crockett. We are praying for a bountiful harvest this tracking season and want to thank you in advance for aiding us in our pursuits of “no wounded game left behind. Amen.” 😇🦌🩸
