INSTANT L O V E!
Someone recently wanted to get a 4 week old cockatiel. I won’t let unweaned babies go. At 8-10 weeks, a cockatiel will still bond with its owner. Case in point -picture below. The ride home with a weaned bird. Instant bonding!

The chicks are growing like weeds. This picture was taken 2 days ago. I’m amazed how often they get fed by parents. In Arizona the birds are in the living room where I hear the chicks getting fed.

Breeding Season 2022 is over and I am relieved actually. I wasn’t able to find homes for the last 6 baby cockatiels I had. This economy is really hurting everyone. I took them to Pets R Us. So all of the “tire kickers” that inquired about the price can see them in Omaha and pay double what I was asking.
Here’s hoping 2023 is better! Thank you to all my bird customers!

Parent fed yet tame. 2 of these awesome speckled beauties are available. I had held these chicks as they were growing but let mom feed them. They weren’t held for two weeks while I was in the hospital and the week after. Today I got them out and they are as sweet as can be!

RIP Pickles, the male Kakariki. No sign of illness or stress-this is how birds are. He was 6 or more years old. Lucy will be going with her 2 sons to their new home on Monday.

June 20th I had planned gallbladder removal surgery. All went fine -outpatient surgery. Tues was fine. Wed not so much and then Thursday woke up at 2 am in severe pain. Spent night at West Point hospital-running tests to find out what is causing pain. Friday transferred by ambulance to Lakeside Hospital. WORST experience in my life! Dr couldn’t get me into surgery until Saturday at 5 pm. Fluid was in my abdomen-ascites. Got abdomen cleaned out-think power car wash, got a lovely drain tube and sent home at Noon Sunday. Yowza I was sore! This only happens to 1% of patients-lucky me! And that’s why I haven’t been on I FaceBook much. Gary took care of the birds and Jack our new puppy.

Maui ended up with 2 healthy chicks. Look at the itty bitty dark crown appearing on one. Too cute. She is raising these two on her own. I don’t want babies over the summer.
