An announcement from the Meowtown Airport… we have lift off of the airplane ears! Little Amaretti has been slowly turning around with a change in the way we’ve worked with her, and I’m happy to say we can no longer call her “airplane ears” as we could before!

Amaretti has come along for sure, and though she’s not always impressed with me (swipe for the second picture, haha), she has started acting more like a normal kitten — she has definitely gotten more comfortable, trusts us more, and feels safer now. She plays with toys and her brother, she meows at us, and she comes to the front of their condo to greet us at times. She is starting to take food from me and will sometimes eat with us in the room. And, she no longer has her ears so flat like she used to (swipe for the third picture)!

When her brother’s eye problem is resolved, they’ll be looking for a home together, but for now we’ll continue working with this little lady on realizing life is much better as an indoor kitty than as a feral kitten outside! 🐾💕

**Tiny Tiger Tamer Needed!**
….aka “spicy” kitten foster needed for a pair of 3-4 month old semi-feral kittens!

These two are youngsters from the same colony as two older kittens we took in last year (Fernando and Jade), as well as the four older kittens we recently took in (intro coming soon!). Though they’re currently very scared, I am confident that they will socialize well with an experienced foster due to our experience with the older kittens from the colony, especially where they were already being socialized by the colony caretaker.

We are looking for a foster for this pair for ideally a few months while they are socialized and gotten ready for adoption. They will definitely take some time to work with, but it’ll be a rewarding experience to get them to trust people! They have not yet had vet care as we cannot officially intake them until we have a foster ready to take them in, so their foster will need to be comfortable with this. Their foster will need to be able to get them to vet appointments in Millbury MA.

We provide the supplies, you provide the soft place to land along with the time and love needed to socialize them to get them ready for a home!

Not able to foster right now? That’s okay—you can still help them! Please share this post to help find these two a foster! 🐾💕

This past weekend was a busy one - part 2!

We’re excited to say, happy adoption weekend to Lorenzo and his new family! His meet and greet went wonderfully over the weekend, and he settled into his new home so quickly it’s as if he was always meant to be there. He has someone home with him all the time, which he absolutely loves and follows her around all the time already. 🥰 We are thrilled for him and his future!

Here are some pictures of him in his new home, settled in like the curious, playful, and adorable boy he is! We adore getting updates like this, especially so quickly. Congrats to his new family, and thank you to his foster for helping him get ready for his new home! 🐾💕

This past weekend was a busy one - part 1!

Saturday was our drop-off day for our Savers FunDrive, and while we didn’t come anywhere near the lofty goal I had set (before I realized how many pounds that really was!), I got the email today that we DID raise close to $100 from the generous donations we received and from cleaning out some of the older yard sale fundraiser stock, and that’s awesome for our first time trying this fundraiser out!

In total, we had donations of…
*Clothing, shoes/accessories, and linens: 446 lbs
*Miscellaneous household items and decor: 154 lbs
*Books: 21 lbs

Thank you for all your support! Here are the photos of our donations from when we dropped them off (and I forgot to get one of our FunDrive team, which I’m disappointed about!) - all the bags of clothing and linens piled up neatly on the cart to be weighed, a photo of all the bags separate to show how many, and the boxes of household goods and books on their cart! 😊

Lorenzo says hi! 💚 I got to say hello to him while I dropped off monthly parasite prevention for all the kitties at his foster’s house, and he is truly such a sweet boy - this photo was taken right before he flopped abs rolled over on the cat tree. 😂

We’re excited to say he’s pending adoption once he has his meet and greet! 🐾💕

I’m not sure when the last time I posted this girl was, but she seriously deserves to be talked about more often with how sweet and silly she ended up being — Jade is a unique girl who makes me laugh and smile every day as she figures out what life is like as a house cat!

Jade is Fern’s sister, if you remember him from last year. They came to us as older kittens, and while Fern socialized pretty quickly, his sister did not give me any signs that she wanted to be with people. I even tipped her ear when she was spayed and planned to release her, but I kept waiting for some reason. In my heart, I just knew there was a sweet cat underneath just vying for love, and I was willing to wait it out with her.

I was not wrong! Here’s a video of her making biscuits and rolling around on her high shelf perch.

Jade is now 1.5 years old and though she is still figuring things out, she is absolutely ready to look for a home of her own. She LOVES her toys and her wet food (in case you can’t tell by her round belly, haha!). She gets along well with other cats and would likely benefit from living with a friendly and confident cat to learn from.

is upon us!

Since 2012, the world has come together to celebrate generosity, kindness, compassion, and charities on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This movement has helped millions of people and animals around the world in over a decade!

We have been incredibly grateful for all the support this year as we work to save cats, especially some big medical cases. This Giving Tuesday, we are hoping to raise money to offset some of the vital veterinary care these cases have received and will continue to need to get them healthy!

Let’s recap our medical cases this year…

1. Butterscotch and her badly injured leg: Though we thought she would need an amputation, she healed up and has even socialized well, so she’ll be looking for her home soon!

2. Biscotti and the other Italian Desserts Kitten Group: These 5 came to us with severe upper respiratory infections, and Tiramisu even needed x-rays because of how sick he was. Poor Biscotti’s eye is still a work in progress, and the next step is a visit with an ophthalmologist!

3. Beaker, who was severely ill from a kidney injury and starvation: It was a little scary and his prognosis was poor, and it was quite an adventure with IV fluid pumps in our house, but he made it through!

4. Pawley, who has an ear mass: A simple ear infection turned worse, this guy will likely need a procedure to remove his ear canal. He’s such a nice boy!

Between all these cats, the medical costs to help them totaled $3,562.46!! This is not including the medical care some of them still need, their vaccines and spay/neuter procedures, and ALL the other cats we’ve helped this year!

Even if you aren’t able to donate today, please consider sharing this post to help spread the word! 💚🐱

Repositng because we are still collecting items for our FunDrive fundraiser with Savers (savers_thrift) for this week and most of next, and our drop off date is Saturday the 14th! Thank you to everyone who has donated!*

We are incredibly excited to announce that for our holiday-season fundraiser this year, we have partnered with Savers thrift stores to host a FUNDrive to benefit our kitties! 💚🐱

What exactly IS a FUNDrive, you may be wondering, and that is a great question! Savers has a program for nonprofit organizations to partner with them and they will pay us a price per pound of clothing, shoes, linens, and other small household goods to help supply their thrift stores. We will collect items for the next 4 weeks, and on our drop-off date, everything will be weighed and we will receive funds that can be used for vet care and supplies. Super easy, and a great way to help out both humans and cats this holiday season - all you have to do is go through your closets to find the things you don’t and won’t wear anymore, bag them in a regular tall kitchen trash bag, and email or message use to arrange drop off or local pick up. 😊 We’ve had some big medical cases this year, and these extra funds will really help us!

To raise $750 for our organization, we need to collect 290 tall kitchen bags of clothing… and while we know that’s a huge goal, we want to aim high and hope to get close!

We are collecting gently-used…
**Clothing and shoes: All women’s, men’s, and children’s clothes, shoes, coats, scarves, handbags, wallets, accessories, belts, backpacks, and more!
(Please note: Bras and socks are accepted if washed; no underwear will be accepted)
**Linens: bedding, comforters, blankets, sheets, towels, tablecloths, curtains, and similar items.

Items should be clean for donation and if possible, clothing and linens should be bagged in regular tall kitchen trash bags for drop-off.

Please email us at [email protected] or message us on FB/IG to arrange local drop-off or pick-up!

Thank you SO MUCH for your continued support! Please like and share this post to help spread the word! 🐱💚

Pawley had his procedure today, and it may be better news than we originally anticipated - we’re crossing our fingers! We’ll give a better update tomorrow when we have some of his bloodwork results, but for now, enjoy a picture of him waiting to be picked up after his procedure today. Look at his giant paws, and his sedation drugs hadn’t quite worn off yet! 😂❤️

Part 2 - Amaretti’s update!

You know who I realized that we haven’t updated on in a long time? Biscotti & Amaretti!

To recap - These 2 came to us in a group of 5,
all sick with respiratory infections, and Biscotti’s eye was so badly inflamed and infected that we weren’t even sure if his eye was intact. After many weeks, everyone’s respiratory infections cleared up, but while Biscotti’s eye was thankfully not ruptured, it never healed to normal. Amaretti has been significantly more fearful than any other young kitten we have caught, even ones caught at 4-5 months old.

*Amaretti’s Update*

Despite being caught at about 8 weeks old and now being 7 months old, Amaretti is one of the most fearful kittens we have ever worked with. Though most do best staying with their siblings, especially more social siblings, this little girl was really shut down when she was with Biscotti and the 3 younger boys. She has blossomed since being separated from the 3 younger kittens, which was done long before they were adopted out so she could have a more calm space, but she is still extremely fearful and does not like being handled.

She is starting a very structured behavioral modification program with us now, and this includes calming supplements and extra time spent with her. It will take time, but we are certain that she will come to realize that the world isn’t as scary as it seems right now. She truly relies on her brother for comfort and guidance, and she recently found her voice because of how chatty he is! When she is ready and his health is managed, they will be looking for their home together.

Amaretti and Biscotti will not be adopted out until Biscotti’s eye problem has been resolved. Biscotti’s veterinary care for his eye alone has cost just over $700 so far, and it isn’t even close to the end as we need to get him into a specialist. If you would like to help towards his care to help them get closer to adoption-ready or share this post, we would greatly appreciate it! 💚🐱

11/26/2024

It’s time for an update on Pawley! And along with the update, we’re asking for a little help - he’s turned out to be a bigger medical case than we thought he would be!

When he came to us, it was reported that he was shy but friendly and was FIV positive. After a few days in his foster home, he settled in enough to show her that he had a terrible ear infection, so we got him in right away for an exam and to treat his ears. Both had signs of infection, but one especially was QUITE bad.

After 2 weeks, he came back for a recheck, and I’ll be honest - I immediately recognized the look on both of my vets’ faces. They confirmed that, now that the infection had been treated some and the swelling and inflammation was down, there was heavy suspicion that he has a mass in his ear canal. What this mass is and what it means for Pawley’s future, we don’t know yet, but that’s what his procedure this Friday, the 29th, will help us determine.

At the end of this week, we will sedate Pawley and do a thorough exam of his ear canal. We will collect a small sample of this mass to submit for biopsy. We will check some basic bloodwork to make sure that his organs and blood cells are all looking healthy despite this. It is likely we will do radiographs of his head and chest. It is also possible that we will submit a culture of the infection in his ear if it is not a true mass.

As you can imagine with a list like that and some undetermined parts of the plan, our estimate for this procedure has a wide range (last photo, roughly $620-1200). The low end is for sedation, bloodwork, pain medications, and the biopsy. The high end includes the culture and radiographs. It is also possible that additional testing may be performed once the vet gets a good look at his ear.

If you have a few dollars to spare towards his procedure, we would be incredibly grateful! Though we did not know he would be a medical case when we took him on, we will make sure he gets the care he needs. If you could share this post, that would be amazing! 💚

Warning: photo of medical procedure with eye at the end.

*Biscotti’s Update*

Biscotti has been through multiple eye medications and tests without resolution. The infection came and went a few times, but he continued to squint, had his third eyelid up, and his eye was getting cloudier. We ran a specialized respiratory infection panel to make sure it wasn’t caused by something that needed to be treated, which was negative.

Finally, in September, there was evidence of an ulcer. We started him on a treatment using the serum from his own blood in addition to the antibiotic drops. He has been great when we draw his blood, which is then spun down in a centrifuge, and the serum portion is separated for use. We also numbed his eye with a topical anesthetic and corneal debridement was performed by the vet to help healthy tissue form (photo as the end, not for those squeamish about eyeballs).

These eye drops of his body’s serum have been helping to improve the ulcer, but the other symptoms remain and he does seem uncomfortable. Next is a consult with an ophthalmologist, which isn’t cheap so we are working on saving, but are also consulting with our regular vet about what may come of that. It is very possible he may need his eye removed, but if it helps him be pain-free and to live like a normal kitten, we will do it.

His veterinary care for his eye alone has cost just over $700 so far, and it isn’t even close to the end. If you would like to help towards his care or share this post, we would greatly appreciate it!

I also took a quick picture of Pawley when saying hi and checking his ear after dropping off those two boys to foster the other day, and I forgot to post it! I love the little bed, and clearly so does he.

This guy has a BIG update post coming, because what we thought was a simple ear infection is proving to be a lot more that I have to organize my thoughts on, but for now, enjoy this picture of him wondering why I interrupted his cozy nap 🐱❤️

Those two boys I sneak-peeked a photo of weren’t alone… one sister caught and off to the foster’s house to be reunited with her brothers! She’s understandably a little scared by what’s changed in her life, but she’ll settle in quickly we hope. 💕 Full intro to come for everyone soon.
