TRAINING, RAISING, AND SELLING HORSES AND MULES

We base our training on trust, respect, and a lot of outside miles. We run a few cows and steers to train our c**ts on and make better horses with getting them exposed to as much as possible.
We have two stallions and a small band of mares. We try to keep most of our foals to ride and sell later as started prospects or finished horses. Our trainin

g methods are greatly influenced by the great Ray Hunt, Tom Dorrance and Les Vogt methods. Because no horse or mule is alike, we train according to the individual and using methods that work with the individual animal. We are getting into the mind and personality of that animal. Every horse and mule is schooled with a lot of miles under their feet in their first thirty days of riding. Of course since every equine is an individual, some are ridden the first day and some need more prepping and there's a few that require extra special handling in the round pen phase. It’s really up to the horse or mule and if they are ready. Our training takes them from the round pen to the arena and then outside for everyday experiences. We like to get them out as soon as possible and start getting the miles under their feet, getting them out and seeing some country, getting them to learn to handle themselves out in the water, mud, rocks, hilly terrain etc. with a rider. We incorporate ranching aspects as they are ready for it. Ranching aspects include neck reining, side-passing, opening gates, checking cattle and fence. We do keep steers at the ranch headquarters and they are worked around them, tracking and getting ridden among them and sometimes roping off of them, when they are ready. Our ground work always includes them being sacked out with tarps and ropes. This can greatly benefit a young horse that may become tangled in wire. If we feel the horse or mule is dangerous or otherwise not going to suit your needs, we will advise you within 2-3 weeks and allow or ask you to come and retrieve the animal from our care. Check out the website www.tiptophorsemanship.com to see our stallions and mares and other horses we have available.

Fine team of Haflinger Mares are back up for your consideration!! They and the 3/4 size stagecoaches they pulled helped us to get a good enough start and give us the foothold we needed to make enough giving rides to be able to upgrade to a full-sized authentic type Concord Stagecoach and be able to get a bigger team to pull the full size coach!! These girls and the stagecoach of your choice will help you do the same if you are wanting to give rides and we are willing to make a better deal on the coach, the team, and their harness/collars if you take the whole kit and caboodle!! THESE GIRLS and the stagecoach HAVE BEEN FEATURED ON TV and on newspapers A COUPLE OF TIMES AS WELL!! (We do have another team of halfinger mares that are little bigger that we would make a deal on too if you take all four mares and/or a stagecoach [or both stagecoaches and both teams 😉]) Dots and Dixie pull either stagecoach very easily even when loaded down with people and have never had any issues with either one!!

VIDEO IN THE AD!! They did not end up finding a home on the online consignment deal stated in the video so are back up for your consideration at a set figure!! PLEASE PM for details or visit https://www.tiptophorsemanship.com/dots-and-dixie.html

Dots and Dixie are a really nice team of haflinger mares that are about 13.1 and 13.2 hands. IF you are looking for a ready to go "no tuning up needed" team, Dots and Dixie are your girls. They have been used in parades, wagon trains, and recently and currently are being used to pull the stagecoach giving rides at Medora, ND. They Stand patiently at the hitching post being hooked up, waiting for passengers to load and unload or even at home before they are taken out and after they get back, they will back up and turn both directions from the hitching post. They are good with traffic ie. Semi trucks and trailers, cars, pickups, motorcycles, and any other odd vehicle passing them from both ways, they can be given time off and will drive right off. Dots and Dixie are fairly easy to catch, easy to harness and hook up, stand great for the farrier, easy to load and they haul nicely.

💛🟨💛SPOILER ALERT!! """"""" They have been driven in 50 mph winds on the road with traffic and they do fine!!""""""""". 💛🟨💛

Dots drives on both sides as we found out by driving her on the right with a different haflinger mare but as far as we know Dixie only drives on the right side as we have never tried to drive her on the left. Dixie is a really steady mare that nothing really bothers her and she pulls steadily but Dots likes to work hard and has more get up and go than Dixie but they work together very well as a team as they even each other out. Both are sound and have NEVER foundered or have had any issues.

For more info, Please visit https://www.tiptophorsemanship.com/dots-and-dixie.html or call (701)390-4359
They will continue to be used to give rides until picked up at Medora, ND. We Will hold them up to ten days at no additional charge for arrangements to be made to have them picked up.
Currently located near Medora, ND but can help arrange shipping. They have a current coggins, so are ready to go.

🛑🛑⛔️⛔️‼️
P.S. >>>> Both Stagecoaches that they are pictured and videoed pulling are available for your consideration also!!! They are 3/4 size and would be great for any haflinger or smaller horses!! DUKE and Jake are a phenomenal little team of quarter horses and are full brothers. They stand around 14 hands and are gentle, sweet individuals, they are easy to harness up and hitch up, they stand for the farrier, they load and haul with no issues. This team is just a fun little team to drive around. They have been used in a four-up team pulling the stagecoach as the lead team in the Deadwood, SD Days of '76 parade and rodeo in 2022 and 2023. They had been left to sit for a year and were harnessed and driven in the 2023 parade. They then sat for another 6 months and were driven right off again and did great. They have been used to give stagecoach rides at Medora, ND this year and are a consistent team. They are said to have had 30 days of riding put on them when they were two but we have only used them for driving and giving rides at Medora. They are sound. Chief
2020 Grade Welsh/Shetland Sorrel Stallion
Unknown x Unknown (Unknown)
11.2 Hands

Sadly due to unfortunate circumstances, we are getting out the breeding business temporarily. So this little guy is up for consideration.

This little stud truly is built like a little quarter horse all packed up in less than 12 hh. He is very gentle, easy going, friendly, loves attention, and very smart. Out with his mares last year (2023) spring and summer, we were able to put our toddler on him without a halter and he never bat an eye and he also kept the mares close by us so we could check on them thoroughly. He settled almost all of his mares and are having some phenomenal built c**ts out of him. We have hand bred him this year and he is very easy to handle. He is not broke to ride but it would take very little to get him there and we believe he would also make a phenomenal little driving pony as well. We have only led him around with our toddler on his back and last fall she led him around the yard and played with him. He’s a very sweet boy.

Pictures were taken end of August 2023 right after he was pulled out of the breeding pasture but can get new pictures if needed. I also have videos of him being led around by our toddler. FB won’t let me share the post with it that way and wants to only share the post with one video and not all the info.

Located near Amidon, ND but can help arrange a shipper.

Smart Little Lena x Freckled Leo Girl (Freckles Pl***oy)
aka
"Slick"

14 hh

Due to some unforeseen circumstances this lovely stallion is up for anyone’s consideration.

Slick has a great personality and is extremely athletic. He is smart and for a stallion has a very laid back personality. He has excellent foot and bone not something you see very often in Smart Little Lena bred horses. He has never been injured and is completely sound.

This stallion was a trained cutter and a trained tie-down calf horse by Russ Carroll but unfortunately due to owner circumstances was never shown. We have ridden him several times and he is fun to ride and probably could go back into training to be shown if someone wanted to take the time to tune him up.

We have pretty much only used him for pasture breeding and have put him in a small corral with one mare at a time a few times as well but haven’t hand bred him which he’d probably do very well. He does collect but we have never collected him in the 4 years we have owned him. He can be very loud when it’s that time but he’s all bark and no bite 😂 and is pretty easy to deal with in those situations.

His first crop of c**ts were born in 2019, so he doesn't have very many c**ts out there. We were able to purchase this wonderful stallion in 2020 and have gotten several crops of foals by him. Slick will make an excellent cross on foundation bred mares just as much as the modern bloodlines of today. He will cross well on the race bred horses adding some extreme athleticism and cow sense.

Slick may never have been shown but that doesn't he should be overlooked as a sire, this stallion has great potential as a sire if his foals get into the right hands. Slick has a true blacktype pedigree without holes. Every horse in his pedigree was either a producer or earner or both. His dam has great accomplishments in her resumé besides her own outstanding pedigree with an LTE of $35,000+ in Cutting and has offspring earnings of $356,000+ and of course his sire Smart Little Lena speaks for himself. With a pedigree like his, his conformation, his ability as a sire and his own athleticism makes him very desirable as stallion to breed to.

Dinky is a phenomenal gray standing 16 hands that most anyone can ride. He was started as a two year old and has been ridden off and on since. He has always been solid, honest, and gentle, he has never offered to buck, has always saddled up the same every time with a lot of time off. He’s easy to catch, quiet, and easy going. We have started c**ts with him and we have used him to pony c**ts as well. He is a great outside circle horse and trail horse but would also make a good ranch horse as he has the basics down to do it. Sound.

Toby is a good trail mule. He is a VERY average mule, there is absolutely nothing special about this mule but he has never offered to buck or kick and is gentle, so that is something. He is not easy to catch but is not hard to catch. He stands about 14.1 hands but he is a slowpoke on the trail. So if you want ULTRA SLOW, this the mule for you. He is an easy keeper and about as wide as he is tall. One good thing about this mule is a saddle with regular quarter horse bars will fit him as he does have withers and a nice rump. Sound!! Jumper is that neat mule that has done it all. He

has done all the ranch chores there is to be done -
he's been used for branding, moving and shipping
cattle, checking cattle, checking fences, sorting
pairs, doctoring, calving etc... We have used him in
ranch rodeos and took fourth place in the state
fair ranch rodeo out of twelve teams with him. He
has been in a parade and did great. We have heeled
on him as well to start heading horses. We have
started numerous c**ts with him and we have po-
nied c**ts off of him many times. He has been in
Arizona in the rough country, he goes where he is
pointed, crosses water, will jump up small cliffs,
goes down steep terrain etc. We have wrangled
horses and cows in the badlands. He is great with
children and small critters. He is solid, he has
never offered to buck, he is good with time off
and saddles up the same every time. He stands
about 14.3 hands and stands to be mounted, open
gates off of him, he's great with his ears, easy to
bridle, super easy to catch - in fact he will meet
you at your door in the morning like a dog (he will
pop over the fence to greet you just a like a puppy
but he never goes anywhere and stays around the
barnyard and corrals. But if you don't want him
wandering around the yard, a 6 ft fence will keep
him in.) He will jump over a barbed wire fence with
a coat draped over it if you can't find a gate.
Sound. There's so much to say about this good
mule, that we can't simply fit it all in. For more

Bred to Lena Freckled Leo for 2024
This is her third foal and she is Due any day. She can picked up before she foals or after. Up to you.

Sweetheart is a really sweet mare who earned her nickname by being just that!! She was sent to us to be trained by our good friend Don Maston from Maston Quarter Horses and we ended up falling in love with her and got her from Don. She is extremely athletic, smart, beautiful, gentle, cowy, and quiet. She is a good momma, easy foaler and easy breeder. She got about 30+ rides on her before we turned her out with the stud. In those 30 days, we found out what kind of horse she is and she earned a spot in the broodmare band. Her foals by Lena Freckled Leo have proven to be athletic, curious, bold, and quiet just like her. Her oldest c**t is coming two and we can't wait to ride him!! We do believe that her c**ts by Lena Freckled Leo definitely have what it takes to be Finals caliber cutting horses or reined cowhorse high end caliber type horses.

There’s pics of the stud she is bred to and his papers and 5 Panel and the last photos are of her last two foals which we have kept.

Here is a NICE sorrel gelding that is consistent in every way. Latigo stands around 14.2 hh and is fairly stout. This horse is a heel horse deluxe prospect, he has excellent conformation and a pedigree to match with Two Eyed Jack, Zan Parr Bar, Smart Little Lena and Driftwood-prime breeding for a rope horse and he shows promise. His maternal grandsire Smart Idea earned $16,000+ in the cutting pen. Latigo has been used on the ranch for all aspects: branding, sorting, roping, pushing, checking, loading, and gathering cattle, wrangling horses, and starting other c**ts. He has been tracking the hot heels/dummy, we have headed and heeled, and he is cowy and likes to rope. Latigo is friendly, loves people, easy to catch, easy to be around, gentle, hauls well, loads, and unloads. He will go anywhere you point him on: water, ditches, washouts etc…. Open gates off of him, he rides off alone and does fine in group situations, he has a lot of miles outside and is definitely ready to be continued with. We have owned Latigo since he was a weanling, he has always been sound, is sound in every way, he has never bucked, kicked or bitten. Johnny is a big solid gray gelding standing 15.3 hands with good foot, bone, and substance. He may be big, but he moves really free and light like a small horse, he is athletic and cowy. If you are looking for a head horse, or barrel horse, prospect…he has a lot of potential! Or if you want a good ranch gelding he certainly wont let you down! We started him as a three year old and he’s been ridden off and on since. He has never bucked but if left sit for a long period of time, he can be cold backed and in such case, just warm him up and he will be fine. But overall, he is a solid, honest, hardworking horse that wants to please. He is easy to catch, loves attention, gentle, easy to be around, stands for mounting, side passes, he has a soft mouth, is light sided, easy riding and smooth. He will cross any terrain you point him at; cross water, with out hesitation! open gates off of him, he is good with ropes, hauls easy, loads and unloads fine. He has been ridden in and out of the arena and has lots of outside miles, he will ride off alone and does fine in group situations. He has gathered and worked cattle, tracked and roped the hot heels/roping dummy. Johnny has always been sound and is sound 100% in every way.
