Meet Mioak's Stardust aka Ziggy (Sunny x James) She came home to the farm yesterday and will be tagging along tomorrow at the Campton Square farmers market. I'll also bring the first of the apples and peak-season raspberries. As delicious as they are, the fruit can't really compete with the puppy.

Mioak's Rise and Shine "Sunny" had 9 healthy pups about 3 weeks ago. This is a repeat of the Sunny x James breeding, as every one of those dogs that we've met (or heard about from their owners) has been wonderful. Smart, eager to please (and train), and gorgeous. The two of the pics were taken when they were hours old (the first two, in fact, were born on Sunny's birthday.) The other one was when they were a day old, and you can see that they put on weight in that short time. Sunny is a dedicated mother, and her puppies continue to thrive. All that jockeying for position at the teat is making them strong. Good girl, Sunny.

RIP sweet Enzo (Mioak's Racing in the Rain). I wish I had more regal photos of you in your prime. But even as a relatively old dog (he's 11-12 in these pictures from the last couple of years), you were a handsome and athletic one.

He was a gentle dog who tolerated annoying puppies and rude dogs with grace. He never met a human he didn't adore and he was a talented, driven hunting dog. He will be sorely missed by those of us who loved him, and especially by my mom, Mickey. He sired seven litters, so leaves behind scores of descendants.

I already have this pupper's mom, Sunny, and grandma, Rainey at home with me. But I am still tempted to add another generation when I see photos like this. The question is, how many golden retrievers are too many? (And remember, this is Leslie, Mickey's daughter. I live in a regular house without a designated "dog room".)

My Sunny and Rainey have never said this, but I've known dogs who did. Happy Valentine's Day to our best friends, regardless of their drive to retrieve.

Mioak's Mighty Quinn (Keely x Keeper) is a finalist in the Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin calendar contest (he's #7). Every vote/donation supports this wonderful organization.

Wow, we received so many awesome entries for our calendar contest. We're glad we weren't on the committee who had to choose the 25 finalists.

Now, it's up to you to vote for the 2022 GRRoW calendar winners. The photo with the most votes will be on the cover. The photos with the second through 13th most votes will be a month, and the photo with the 14th most votes will be on the back cover. Because everyone is a winner, all remaining submissions will included in a collage in the calendar.
