This is great advice! Just note, my speech to text sometimes fails me 🙈

Scam sites, pages etc. are in full force lately and will say they have exactly what you’re looking for.

Here are some tips:
1) Always check their site. Be mindful, some look totally legitimate. Look through the pictures (most are stolen from other pages). Check page transparency. Look for origination/location (it will say they are local but won’t be). Check the date site or page was created (it will be recent). Check for reviews, comments, stars, etc. (there won’t be any). Page site will have minimal information, pictures etc. to “appear” in good standing.
2) Look for misspelling during conversations (it’s frequent)!!! Huge red flag! Granted I do speak Bethenese so there is that LOL!
3) Look for not knowing exact details about the breed etc. you are looking for or price sounds to good to be true! African grey for $500-1000 a African grey weaned you will be looking at $5000-6000
Macaws same $3000+
4) Ask for pictures or videos holding the bird. Be specific & picky.
5) If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Ask in Bird groups or message us if we have heard of them.
6) local pickup should be available we do ship via Delta as well.
7) granted we don’t like to disturb pairs but ask for pictures/video of the parents /pairs many sadly are flippers and or scammers they can look clean but, still carry disease.
Also, selling unweaned birds or fertile eggs (idk how this still gets people NOONE sells fertile eggs on exotic birds NOONE!) to inexperienced pet clients. Also, lastly watch and beware of the raffle fade this shows all about the quick buck and not health and safety of the babies.
