Is this footage of Sally feeling super snuggly during her recent visit or me struggling to wake up this Monday morning? That cute nose poking out most definitely belongs to Sally!
An abscess forms when a wound heals over on its surface, thus sealing the deeper infection inside.
In this case, the abscess developed following a bite wound. Diseased tissue and the inflammatory cells liquify into pus which breaks through the overlying surface skin and drains. This leads to foul odor, pain, and discomfort. Our team lanced the infected area and drained the wound to help this pet feel better.
When your pet isn't acting like themselves, we know that figuring out what is wrong and how to help them is your top priority! Getting the correct diagnosis is essential to putting your pet on the path to better health.

Foreign Body Removal Surgery
Just When You Think You've Seen Everything: Surgery Edition
Board-certified surgeon Dr. Hobday has preformed her fair share of foreign body removal procedures. However, there was nothing routine about the excessive amount of yarn removed from the stomach of a distressed dog recently after eating a large portion of a crocheted blanket.
The surgery was a success and the patient is recovering well!
Say hello to Dinah! She is a truly special patient with an equally wonderful family.
Dinah is a sweet Shepherd Mix who will be 11 years old at the end of February. She is currently receiving weekly acupuncture treatments with Dr. Joanna Murray for hind limb weakness and generalized arthritis.
Her family has been working hard to provide her with a multimodal approach to keep her comfortable, to maintain good mobility, and to slow down the progression of any weakness associated with her condition.

Polyp Surgery
During a recent sedated airway exam on our patient India, our surgeon Dr. Hobday discovered a very large polyp. Dr. Hobday was able to completely remove the polyp. India has been doing well since this procedure!
Nasopharyngeal Polyps, commonly referred to as polyps, are frequently seen in cats. These structures typically arise from the middle ear and often extend into the nasopharynx. This is the area that connects the nasal cavity to the back of the airway or soft palate, as shown in this video.
Polyps can cause respiratory noise, sneezing, and nasal discharge because of their location. They are benign structures. However, they can grow so large that they can cause an obstruction of the nasopharynx. Treatment for polyps is removal by surgery. If the entire polyp is not completely removed, regrowth is common. Our skilled team is dedicated to helping your pet live their healthiest life possible.

Cozy Mannie
Mannie is making the big decisions this Monday morning. Which bed should he spend this chilly day snuggling in?
While exploring the rest of the abdomen during Ellie's surgery, Dr. Hobday also found and removed a bladder stone. Thorough, detail-oriented care is our priority.
Our patient Ellie was recently diagnosed with pyometra. Pyometra is a life threatening infection of the uterus in unspayed dogs and cats. The uterus fills with copious amounts of bacteria and pus.
Thankfully, our skilled surgeon, Dr. Hobday, was able to remove the uterus.
