Folks, for those of you in the 10th Senate District, the Senate seat was vacated by John McGuire who was elected to Congress earlier this month. As a result, there will be a Mass meeting to determine the Republican candidate to fill his seat on Friday, 12/13.

For many weeks, we have been talking to potential candidates for the Senate, and one candidate really stood out with his position on hound hunting: Bryan Hamlet, a Supervisor from Cumberland County. Your help is needed to get him on the ballot!

Bryan released a statement on hunting, and here is an excerpt:

"As a hunter, I stand proudly in support of the time-honored practice of dog hunting not only in the counties that make up Virginia's 10th Senate District but throughout the Commonwealth. This tradition is more than a pastime; it’s a way of life that connects us to the land, fosters strong community bonds, and teaches values of responsibility and respect for nature.

Dog hunting has been a cornerstone of our rural heritage, passed down through generations. It represents a unique part of Virginia’s history, where families gather, friendships are strengthened, and stewardship of our natural resources is practiced firsthand. It is a longstanding tradition crucial in managing wildlife populations and supporting conservation efforts. Beyond wildlife management, dog hunting supports rural economies by providing jobs, boosting local businesses, and preserving cultural practices tied to Virginia’s heritage. At our Country's founding, most of the elected officials in the Commonwealth of Virginia were hunters.

Sadly, today, very few members of the General Assembly are hunters. I am a hunter, and as your next Senator, I will work tirelessly to protect and preserve this legacy, ensuring that our outdoor traditions remain vibrant for future generations.

Let’s continue to celebrate the spirit of dog hunting while responsibly managing our wildlife and supporting the rights of hunters throughout the Commonwealth. I will oppose any
measure to abolish or further restrict our ability to continue this centuries-old way of life."

If you live in the 10th Senate District and are eligible to vote, please bring your ID and come to the Mass Meeting THIS Friday, 12/13. Registration begins at 4:30pm and the meeting begins at 6:30pm. The location is the Goochland Sports Complex, 1800 Sandy Hook Road, Goochland, VA 23063.

A few hours of your time on Friday can really help us in Richmond during this upcoming Session. Thank you!

We are the public face of all hound hunters when afield or in the community. Hold yourself and others to the highest standards of behavior when hunting with hounds.

As you are all aware, there are those in Virginia actively seeking to restrict or eliminate hound hunting all together. They are out there reporting, photographing, recording, documenting, and sharing any and all behavior they believe is unacceptable, whether it's in their community, during a field trial, or near their land, legal or illegal.

Their hope each year is to drive up complaint numbers to build a case for making changes. This year is especially active.

We count on our members to conduct themselves with honor and integrity because character matters.

Do the right thing when hunting with hounds, specifically because it is the right thing to do.

Do NOT be the reason why hound hunting ends in Virginia.
