Anyone around here get a hard freeze last night? We woke up to 26 very cold degrees.

Worried our plum is going to suffer. She had just started to bloom profusely. And looking at the weather forecast for the week……we are headed to 90 degrees! Got to love Texas weather.

Early Spring has always been my favorite time on the farm. However, it’s been a rough kidding season. We currently have 19 kids on the ground, but lost a beloved doe and almost lost this sweet gal. All within 48 hours and on a weekend.

The kid below (Muffin) belonged to the lost doe. I quickly began to bottle her with high hopes of saving her.

We thankfully caught Patches (below) laboring in time to see she needed help. After helping her try to kid, it was obvious it was NOT going to happen naturally. This was her first pregnancy, and we always watch new does closely.

We immediately reached out to Dublin Veterinary Clinic P.C - and Dr. Reed met us there in 30 minutes. In no time whatsoever, he said she’d need a cesarean section. Sadly we lost her little buckling. He said the kid was way too big for her.

After bringing her home the next day, we put her in with the abandoned kid. In just a few days she took to the little one and now considers her to be her own. 🤍

Not only was it a huge blessing, but reinforces how God is good. Always.

Wishing you all a very blessed week friends.

I’ve found a way to have tomatoes all year round! Grow micros indoors! Lots of colors, sizes, patterns and flavors. There really is something special about growing your own food. 💚

The fun is about to begin! After a little hardening off time, these beauties will be ready for transplanting. 🍅 All of these are new varieties to me. This year I wanted to branch out and grow unusual, really unique but flavorful varieties. Lots direct from tomato breeders, along with Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian seeds. So thankful for these opportunities. 😊

Huge thanks to my sweet hubby for hauling them from the grow room to the greenhouse. 😘
Have a blessed day friends!

It’s 40 degrees with a wind chill of 32 so what’s one to do? Pot up tomatoes inside! 🍅

I can’t say enough good things about these 6 pack seed starting cells from Bootstrap Farmer - Best roots thus far on all of my seedlings. The air pruning is far superior to any others I’ve ever used.

Looking forward to an amazing garden this year! 💚

Wanted to share with you all this amazing egg holder I found. Our ladies typically lay many more eggs than we can keep up with. I was looking for a better way to store the eggs long term than my little wicker baskets. We love it! Holds 30 large eggs and is so easy to refill.

🥶Everyone stay inside and warm today! It’s brutally cold! 🥶
