With our first winter market at the Kennedy Mall tomorrow, (and every other Saturday after) I thought about an EGG question I was asked yesterday. Yes, we'll have BOTH chicken and DUCK eggs with us. So, which is better? To be honest, that's both subjective, and objective. Are you wanting more nutrition and volume? Or are you wanting taste and appearance? Both have a mish mash of each category, and both can be appreciated more on a subjective base such as taste, texture, appearance, yolk, and whites. So after a fun little YouTube dive, I had no better direct answer to give other than objectively, Duck eggs pack more nutrition and volume, for various reasons. But for subjective reasons, both have their subjective, preferential qualities. For Korrin and I, we prefer Duck eggs both for their objective qualities and our subjective preferences. But, Duck eggs are more expensive, logically, both for the inputs and the outputs, as well as overall value to the consumer. Whichever you choose, you'll be happier, and healthier building either of these into your daily diet. We go through about 6-8 eggs a day, on average depending on which we eat. I hope sharing my fun little YouTube dive helps you decide which to pick up at our winter market booth, or order 7 days a week online AND pick up from our 2418 Central avenue grow space. We offer both washed or unwashed. Happy eating and baking!

Haven't had a weekly update in a minute. I was walking around and checking out the progress or goats have been making and decided to just make a multi-week update for you guys. Have a great weekend!

It's Duck culling day here on the farm. With 15 min more prep, we'll begin the harvest of 8 male ducks for their meat and organ meat. We know this may not jive with everyone, but we explained a lot in the video below and not showing the processing itself, just the prep and explaining why.

Good Saturday morning! We will be back at farmers market the 2nd Saturday of August, but in the meantime, we pack all online orders 7 days a week within 12-24 hours for convenient pick up from our growspace at 2418 Central Ave.!

Thank you to everyone on FB and our neighbors for letting us know that James and Bondo decided to take themselves for a walkabout and catching them for us! We so appreciate it! We just got them and they found the tiniest of holes to penguin slide through. We are installing their electric net fence this evening and will be having our Saturday bonfire if anyone would like to join us to see these little rascals and check out the farm. Hopefully it starts to cool down this evening! Here's a clip after we gave them a washing to cool them off, I guess water makes young goats spunky. Starting to feel a bit more comfortable on the farm!

ReEvolution Farms

Inspired by a desire for a family business that not only has sustainability as its mission, but gives back to the community, Sean and Korrin Schriver began the journey that is ReEvolution Farms. The model for ReEvolution Farms was sparked by The Market Gardener, a book which describes gardening methods employed by Jean-Martin Fortier. The guidelines for successful, small-scale farming outlined in this book inspired the dream that is ReEvolution farms. The farm will begin in the soil, but evolve to host hydroponic and aquaponic systems, housed in on-site greenhouses. Though the farm is currently in its infancy, dreams of a model for sustainable agriculture are always on the horizon.
