HDVI's precision at 300 to 600 microns allows us to penetrate the complexities of brain disorders that often go undetected with traditional imaging like CT and MRI. This technology is particularly vital when dealing with elusive brain masses that lack a blood supply, necessitating the use of MRI for about 20% of cases.
For instance, Hunter, an 11-year-old Labrador, exhibited symptoms that antibiotics couldn't resolve. HDVI revealed an aggressive mass in his nasal cavity, extending into the brain, offering clarity where traditional methods fell short. Similarly, Jiggy, a 10-year-old Frenchie with chronic rhinitis and recent seizures, was found to have significant nasal bone degradation and a critical brain nodule thanks to HDVI's detailed imaging.
Despite the rarity of brain cases, they present a lucrative niche in veterinary practice, with each scan generating substantial revenue, enhancing both diagnostic capabilities and financial performance. Practices can expect to handle two brain cases per quarter, each contributing significantly to the bottom line.

In the realm of veterinary diagnostics, the cases of Darla, a five-year-old German Shepherd, and Scarlet, a six-year-old Pitbull mix, highlight the transformative impact of Epica's HDVI technology. Darla's initial symptoms of low energy and anorexia baffled her veterinarians until the Vimago GT30's detailed scan revealed an abnormally small and infected left kidney, a condition missed on her first visit. Similarly, Scarlet's suspected pregnancy turned out to be a life-threatening pyometra, only diagnosed through the clarity provided by HDVI technology after inconclusive radiographs and ultrasounds.
These cases underscore the critical role of advanced diagnostics in veterinary medicine. Beyond offering unparalleled insights into soft tissue anatomy, the adoption of HDVI technology like the Vimago GT30 is proving to be a sound business decision.
Veterinary practices report an average of four renal or reproductive system scans per month, generating significant revenue at a charge of $500 per scan. This technological leap not only enhances diagnostic efficiency and patient outcomes but also contributes to the financial health of the practice, marking a new era in comprehensive animal healthcare.

Veterinary CT Case of the Day: What more can you see? What's your second opinion?
12-year-old dachshund mix presented for a second opinion. There had been rapid loss of right temporal and facial muscles. He did not show pain and disability of his jaw function as would be anticipated with Masticatory Muscle Myositis. There were concerns regarding his teeth including retained roots of 307 & 407 from crown loss of undetermined cause or time, but dental disease did not seem related to the rapid muscle deterioration.
A Vimago HDVI CT was performed for dental survey purposes. His skull was scanned without contrast and then with contrast to hopefully identify a possible cause of the unilateral muscle atrophy. Loss of tissue substance appears to include the right retrobulbar space.

The dental scan revealed what appeared to be a mass in the rostral brain. A Vimago HDVI CT scan with IV contrast was then performed to survey the brain and the mass.
