It’s that time of year again where we see a lot of horses in the kill pen. There is a skinny pregnant mare this time that I am trying to save. We have till tomorrow afternoon to get her out. They said she is very sweet and it breaks my heart that horses like her end up in situations like this. Please share and donate if you can!

Mrs Margaret got her dental work done today. We found out why she can’t seem to eat her food. She doesn’t have teeth! So she needs to be put on a soup diet and will do well. This diet is expensive and will need to continue for the rest of her life. Vet guessed she was a little over 25 years old. A long life for a draft horse is 30 years old. So her final home will be with us. She worked her whole life for people and deserves to have a comfortable loved retirement instead of a truck ride to Mexico. I was hoping that we wouldn’t see another draft this soon in the kill pen. Sweet old draft mare that is scheduled to be shipped this weekend. No one has stepped up to help her so I am doing what I can to get her a soft landing. She is 20+ years old and has a condition called string halt. It causes the horse to lift their back feet high in the air when they walk. It is not a painful condition and can be managed. She deserves a peaceful retirement not a truck ride to Mexico to slaughter. Can you share or help?

Two new faces on the farm. They were both going to slaughter this Friday. The bigger mare is not able to keep hay in her mouth when she chews and has a tumor on her chest. The smaller one is very thin but is very excited about the hay we have given him. The smaller pony has been adopted by a family who has named her Ducky and will stay here for a month. At 2AM last night this gorgeous foal arrived! I can’t believe that I got my wish and have a cremello foal with ice blue eyes. The odds of having a foal with this coloring are very rare. They have pink skin and are all white to cream colored.There are no albino horses in the world so this is as close to it as you can get.
Someone planned this baby.... someone loved this mare. I keep wondering, how did she end up in this situation?? I will probably never know. What I do know is I am absolutely in love with these two gorgeous horses, and will always make sure they are safe and loved. We are giving mama and baby time to bond and rest. I can’t wait to show more pictures of this little guy as he grows! ❤️
Special thanks to for sleeping in the barn the last three nights so we didn’t miss the birth! It was incredible to be able to be there for it. 💗. And thank you to everyone that helped save this mare. Couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help!
