Rewind to Fall 2011: I met Sarge & his brother, Ferris. Sarge and I quickly became attached! He wasn’t “easy” to say the least, but oh so rewarding to see how much progress he made. Sarge’s parents are wonderful and have always had 2 weimaraners. After Ferris passed, they added Castle, another rescue.
Sarge passed unexpectedly at the end of summer last year. It was difficult.
Then comes Keeper, the new addition to the family! I was beyond excited when his parents reached out and inquired about training.
On Tuesday, Keeper started his board & train program with us. And it just so happened, a memory from 2017 of Sarge & I, popped up. You can’t make this stuff up, everything happens for a reason. It felt like Sarge was giving me approval & watching over us.
Keeper, we have to make Sarge proud! 🩵

What makes SRR Board & Train Program unique?
We are one of Michigan’s ONLY positive reinforcement board & train programs!!
Meaning we do NOT use shock, prong or choke chains & we DO follow modern science based training methods. Ensuring no forceful methods!
Discover how our rigorous yet positive-based training program can empower your puppy to thrive.
Our program is tailored for puppies focusing on basic obedience training, such as sit, down, come, stay, leave it, and loose leash walking.
To ensure lasting results, we require two essential commitments from pet parents: involvement in training follow-ups and continuation of training and exercise regimens after graduation. By working together, we can equip you with the skills to nurture your puppy's growth and strengthen your bond.
Our Board & Train Program Includes:
Proper Dog Socialization
Daily Training for Basic Commands
Implementation of Nothing in Life is Free Policy
Socialization Outings
Follow-Up Lessons with Pet Parents
Our positive reinforcement approach ensures a lifelong foundation for your puppy's training and development.
If you're considering welcoming a new puppy in 2025, we invite you to reach out and explore how our program can support you. Email us at [email protected] to learn more.

January is National Train your Dog Month🐶
Please reach out to our clinic or to our Behaviorist Amanda if you need assistance. Training is a crucial aspect of having a dog in your life. And just like children, dogs need socialization and schooling to become well-behaved companions. Every dog—giant breeds and toys, from puppy to seniors has what it takes to learn a trick or two😊

What safety measures do we have in place here at SRR?
Puppies are SO easy!
Puppies are SO easy!
Yup, I said it.
We absolutely love training puppies….puppies under 5 months old that is!
After this age, yeah, maybe not so easy anymore, for multiple reasons. BUT if we can capture and reward & repeat these good behaviors, we create a solid foundation. A foundation that can be referred back to as needed & advance training for the future.
Puppies are small & so impressionable & willing to please, it makes training easy & fun.
VS. skipped training & by 6 months old, the puppy has learned doing “naughty” behaviors are more rewarding, like pulling, jumping during greetings, chewing, oh and probably growing like a weed and 3x the size they were from 12 weeks old. 😅 It is MUCH harder.
Today, I took a 15 week old puppy, with 3 wild boy children to get horse bedding in a busy store. (Oh and train said puppy and have one of said wild children video record & hope nobody gives you weird looks 🤪)
So thankful we had a nice foundation, I would have lost my mind without it.
Instead I left being so proud of this boy. (to the point, I’m thinking he could just stay forever 😅)
If anyone is thinking of adding a puppy, please choose a time you will be able to dedicate proper time to training. It will make all the difference.
Helpful hint: puppy training cost is cheaper than training an adult dog, because it is EASIER! Send us your puppies! (or it may cost you further down the road!)

Welcome to SRR Dog Training & Massage!
First, thank you for taking the time to get and know us at SRR. We are a small locally owned business, servicing the local community. My name is Chelsea, I originally started SRR after completing the Equine and Canine Massage program from Equissage in Round Hill, Va. Since I have completed further certification programs such as Animal Behavioral College for Dog Training. My goal as a local trainer is to give more POSITIVE structure inside the home and place YOU back in the LEADERSHIP role without any harsh correction methods & live a more balanced relationship with your four legged family members.
At SRR we offer several different services- Horse/Dog massages, Private dog training lessons & group classes- at affordable prices. Being a strong believer in fostering and rescuing dogs, it can be difficult in just taking on a new dog, being able to afford training shouldn't be a stressor- so I strive to be affordable. Group classes will be offered in Spring/Summer/Fall- weather permitting, contact me further for scheduling.
