Should we hydrate our dogs kibble?

Hydrating kibble helps support digestion, hydration, kidney health, and nutrient absorption. Dry food expands in the stomach adding moisture beforehand can make meals gentler and easier on the body, especially for active, senior, fast-eating dogs, and dogs in warm climates (hello Florida ☀️)

Best liquids to use:
Warm water (simple + effective)
Low-sodium bone broth (dog-safe, no onions/garlic)
Goat’s milk (great for gut health)

How much:
Add just enough liquid to lightly cover the kibble
Let sit 5–10 minutes until soft, not mushy

Pro tip: Warm liquid releases aroma and increases acceptance.

🚫 Safety Notes
Serve immediately — don’t let hydrated kibble sit out
Refrigerate leftovers (up to 24 hours)
Never use broths with onion, garlic, or heavy salt

So many of you have touched my heart in ways you may not even realize through kind conversations at the door, thoughtful messages while you’re away, and the bonds I’ve built with your pets that feel just as meaningful to me as they do to you. Some of you have become more than clients; you’ve become friends, support systems, and what I truly consider family.

Caring for your pets has brought so much joy into my life, especially on the long days, the early mornings, and the quiet moments in between.
