I didn't get my first dog until I was 27. I liked dogs, but I'd only had cats as pets. Now it's hard to imagine life any other way! Currently, we don't have any puppers to share our home with- we lost our 17 year old Sadie last year and our 12 year old Trippy very recently. I love our kitties so much, but it feels as though something is missing. Someone, rather.

I know one day we will be ready to bring another buddy home and I get excited thinking about it! In the meantime, I'd love to see pics of your buddies!

I'm going to be serious for a second- I cried when I picked out this photo and this quote, and I cried when I posted this. We had many wonderful years with our puppers Sadie and Trippy, but it just didn't feel like long enough. We miss them terribly, but we are so lucky to have had them.

Is anyone ever more excited to see you come home than your dog? Probably not.

Hey, your professional p**per scooper friend (that's me!) has some relationship advice for you. I heard this years ago and it's some of the best advice I've ever heard. When your loved one comes home, meet them at the door. Get so excited that they are home! And tell them you're so happy to see them! Dogs do this naturally; we humans have much to learn.

There are valid reasons to buy a dog, and I'm definitely not against it. But if it's at all possible when you're looking for your new best bud, choose to rescue a pupper! There are so many dogs out there who just need a chance. You can transform their lives, and they'll transform yours for the better, too!

Dogs can be so attuned to their people's emotions. They seem to just know when you need a cuddle, or a walk, or just a buddy to watch questionable TV with. They will sit with you quietly when you're hurting, asking nothing and giving you all the love they have. Us humans could learn a thing or two from dogs.

Some of these little dogs out here think they're so fierce! 🤣 But hey, they're right! I've read more than one news story about how a tiny dog fended off a home intruder and kept their family safe, so don't underestimate a wee little one.

Our family has been so incredibly lucky that our dogs lived to be seniors. Old pups are so special! But even through we had many years of love, it didn't seem long enough. It never does, right?

We don't deserve dogs, but thank goodness we get to have them!

Our sweet pup Trippy had a very hard life his first two years (he was a probable bait dog according to his rescuer), but he still trusted us and gave us so much love! His ability to open his little heart to us was just miraculous to me.
