Beach Boy concludes his training with Bryan Bailey this week. Unfortunately he doesn’t have any potential adopters yet. He’s a great dog, passed his temperament test with flying colors, and now he’s received basic obedience training from one of the greats. He’s heart worm negative, completely vetted and ready for a new home. Please share his videos and tell people about him. He’s the last of Suzy’s dogs, and he currently has no place to go. Contact us here at Meadow Wood for more information.

Wow, wouldn’t we all like our dogs to behave this way when meeting a strange dog on the road! Beach Boy is such a gentleman. Please share and let’s get this boy a home.

While Bryan is on vacation, Beach Boy continues his education with one of Bryan’s highly skilled trainers. He’s really loving school, and he’s a very quick study.

Beach Boy, day 3 obedience training.

If you’ve ever had a dog that bolts out of doors and/or cars, you know why the “wait” command is so important. I may be biased, but BB is so smart. Total Valedictorian material.

Day 2 obedience training. Beach Boy learning place and stay. So far he’s a rockstar. Some lucky adopter is going to get one fabulous dog trained by Bryan Bailey.

Beach Boy is finished with his evaluation (results below), and he’ll be starting obedience training with Bryan Bailey over the next few weeks. We’ll continue with the updates during training. He’s a great dog that is going to be trained by one of the absolute greats, and he’s available for adoption. Please share far and wide. We want to make sure he gets the perfect home. Potential adopters can contact us here.

Evaluation:

I have completed my evaluation of Beach Boy, and I did not observe any maladaptive behaviors. Beach Boy is socially well-adjusted with unfamiliar dogs and people, including both adults and children. He shows no fear of thunderstorms or loud manmade noises. Additionally, Beach Boy adapts quickly and confidently to new environments, both indoors and outdoors.

It is important to note that Beach Boy is a dog with teeth and claws. In a competitive situation over high-value food with another dog, he may exhibit aggression to secure the food for himself. However, using aggression in such situations is common among dogs and does not represent a maladaptive behavior. To prevent competitive aggression over food, simply feed Beach Boy in a secure area that is inaccessible to other dogs until he has finished eating.

Overall, Beach Boy is highly adoptable by any responsible person(s) and does not pose any more of a threat than any typical dog. However, due to his physical strength and puppy-like exuberance for life, I recommend basic obedience training. - Bryan Bailey

Beach Boy, day 4

“Another canine socialization test involving a female dog - passed with flying colors.
I have exposed Beach Boy to dogs and people of various sizes, genders, and temperaments/personalities with no adverse reaction. I have not yet exposed Beach Boy to children or cats, but I don’t anticipate that being a problem perception-wise. I have also exposed Beach Boy to the type of handling required of obedience training - good to go with that. “ - Bryan Bailey

Beach Boy, day 3

“In this video, I use my dog Captain to test Beach Boy’s responsiveness to an older male dog that can be a bit ornery to see if Captain can provoke any aggression from Beach Boy. The film has been sped up to condense its length, but clearly, even when provoked, Beach boy is very tolerant of Captain. This test is a pass. “- Bryan Bailey
