Sunset Hills Dog Training Our Mission at Sunset Hills Dog Training is to help foster relationships between people and their dogs by training and dog sports.

I believe when people know how to train, communicate, and connect with their own dogs they have more long-term success.

Did you know? Dogs must be 24 months or older for OFA Hip and Elbow certification, and 12 months or older for Cardiac, Patellas, and Thyroid certification. There is no age minimum for eye certification, nor for DNA, since DNA does not change as the dog ages.

The OFA also does Preliminary evaluations on hips and elbows before 24 months of age. However, they will need to be re-evaluated again for a final certification once the dog reaches 24 months.

Individual breeds may have different minimum age requirements for their CHIC program, which is determined by their parent club.

Come one come all and help the Salty Dogz Agility Club set up for a fun weekend of agility.
Dogs, raffle, Food by Cathryn Hanson, and even photographs!

None of it happens until we have helpers set up the show. Remember, Agility trials happen because there are awesome people who all pitch in to make it a success.

We will be setting up on Thursday at 3 pm. Come help us set up and you can set up camp for the weekend after the rings are set up.

Also, we often struggle to get started in the mornings. So we'd love to have people come and work first thing in the morning. It's a great opportunity for upcoming competitors to learn the ropes and make friends. It means a lot if you can be there early and help us get going.

I appreciate everyone who has stepped up to help. Whether it's been jump setting or hospitality, or our upcoming competitors who come early to volunteer even though they are not showing. Everyone is appreciated.

I'm looking forward to an a GREAT time with all of you!

The English Springer Spaniel is a sweet-faced, lovable bird dog of great energy, stamina, and brains. Sport hunters appreciate the duality of working Springers: handsome, well mannered pets during the week, and trusty hunting, show and performance buddies on weekends.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHip)
- Elbow Dysplasia
- ACVO Eye Exam
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy
- DNA Repository
Optional but recommended:
- FUCOSIDOSIS
- PFK
- Degenerative Myelopathy
- Autoimmune Thyroiditis
- Cardiac (Basic, congenital, or advanced via a cardiologist)

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.
