Decided to become a veterinarian after getting her first puppy at the age of 13 years old. Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology and BS in Zoology in '95. Graduated from Texas A&M in 2000 with a BS in Animal Science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. From 2000 to 2010 she worked in 3 veterinary clinics un

til she decided to open up her own mobile services in Eagle Pass, Tx in 2010. She is the only US licensed Veterinarian practicing in Eagle Pass, Tx and has additional training in Veterinary acupuncture. She enjoys educating pet owners about preventative medicine and is a member of the Animal Grievence Board for the City of Eagle Pass, Texas. She also works with the local non profit organization Project COMPANION by helping promote animal welfare, pet adoption and rescues. "We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."

Ticks transmit deadly diseases !
Make sure you are giving your pet an effective flea/tick product prescribed by your vet. Such products like Nexgard, Simparica , and Bravecto are prescription medication And should not be sold by a boarding or grooming facility , feed store or a random person selling them on the internet. This is illegal

Now that it's warming up, we're starting to spot ticks! After outdoor time, always check your pets for ticks...and know how to properly remove them!

✅Don’t forget to check between toes, under armpits, inside ears, under collars, & the face!
🔎If you feel a bump or swollen area, look closer for a tick!
🩺If your pet isn’t protected against ticks & Lyme Disease, contact your family veterinarian to find the right preventative products for your pet!

Heading home from doing relief work in uvalde texas at Southwest Texas Veterinary Medical Center with my copilot , my little foster Princessa
( she was born with a congenital liver condition that will require life long management , caused her to have impaired growth, makes her susceptible to various medical issues and sensitive to certain medications)
She will hopefully be accepted by an Austin rescue soon 🐶🙏🏼🐾🤞🏽

Don’t let this happen to your dog. Heartworm disease is a very serious but very much preventable disease. Other pets like ferrets and cats can get it too. Even though there is treatment for heartworms in dogs , it’s very expensive and difficult on the patient and owner to handle. It’s just better and cheaper to prevent them to treat . Just in case anyone is interested in how Canelita and my other fosters Cher and Runaway are doing. They are all happy campers. They are a handful for sure. Hopefully I will be able to place them in an Austin rescue soon so they can find their forever family Adopt don’t shop! Be kind To Animals. Dr Torres

I don’t mean to keep pushing responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, adopt don’t shop etc etc but when countless starving defensive angels like this are all around Eagle Pass, it’s hard not to get upset and keep pushing the point. This baby was just rescued by a friend and client of mine, Glenda Escamilla. This baby will be my new foster until one of the rescues in Austin can take him .
