Delo…is the cutest little Bulldog/Frenchie thing that ever was! He was in rough shape when he came to us…but is soooo much better! This dude loves naps, snacks, playing, more snacks…and snuggles. 😍❤️ He has a VERY sensitive stomach and is doing great on Farmers Dog food…which is pretty spendy so do some research before applying for this stud! Flower 🌸 💙 is the sweetest little playful guy! This cutie is a lab/pit mix with a sweet sensitive soul and a curious adventurous spirit. 🥹❤️He takes correction from other dogs well and has been raised with small kiddos … he is going to be a wonderful addition to any family! Myrtle the bulldog with the cutest wiggle b***y is back with us again (no fault of hers). She has completed a board and train … and is so ready for a committed family that won’t let her down this time.

Mocha ❤️ this boxer mix is around 3 years old and a very small 48lbs. This love was found abondoned in an orchard with signs of a very traumatic past….and yet she still loves everyone.

Mocha has adopted several puppies and adores younger dogs she can mother, she can be a little picky with some dog friends, loves cats and is great with kiddos! Pictures don’t do this tiny boxer justice…she is ADORABLE and so sweet in person! Please find an application at Herotails.org ❤️

A few weeks ago we were contacted by our favorite animal control officer…he had some babies who needed a safe place to go. ❤️

Because we have the best foster mamas…these two babies got a chance! Bottle babies can be challenging - sleepless nights, struggling go get them to eat, and the constant worry of hoping you are doing all the things…but these two loves made it and are thriving!

Meet Blackberry Flower & Raspberry Flower (both little boys…and both lovingly named by our little 5 year old rescuer) 🥹❤️

They are pit/lab mixes and will ready to meet their furever families in just a few weeks! ❤️🏡🐶

Myrtle 🌺 has been through the ringer.

In our world, if a dog isn’t dog friendly they rarely make it out of a shelter alive. This was likely going to be Myrtle’s fate…she appeared to be overbred and was very picky with her friends, therefore not a good candidate for adoption. One of our amazing foster mamas saw her post on Facebook (thanks to an amazing networker) and couldn’t let her die.

As humans we tend to want a dog that we can take everywhere. One that is good in all situations…but are we like that? Do we like all people or all situations? Do we act appropriately in every stressful environment we find ourselves in? We tend to understand that trauma causes humans to need extra empathy and understanding, but do we extend that to animals?

The longer I do this thing called rescue…the more I understand that animals carry trauma and learn to react based on their environment and experience, just like humans.

Myrtle is no exception to this. Once she arrived at our rescue we began searching for her furever home, and after a few weeks we were delighted to have found a family who loved her for exactly who she was….or so we thought. After a year in a home with her family - they contacted us stating she needed to come back. They had worked with her, sent her to a board and train and she hadn’t turned into the dog they wanted. She still didn’t love other dogs, she got into the trash if it was easily accessible and was not the therapy dog they apparently wanted. She still had issues.

We were completely devastated for her. We asked them to please foster her until she found her home…they did for a few weeks then said they were bringing her to us and could no longer hold her.

As we have 12 dogs already in our home, Myrtle’s only option was the dog barn. For a dog who gets stressed around other dogs this is a terrible environment. We put up a privacy barrier so she couldn’t see dogs inside but this is still an incredibly stressful life for this princess.

Myrtle doesn’t like other critters (rarely likes other dogs so let’s not chance it) but is amazing with people including kiddos. She loves to go on walks and redirects beautifully when she sees another dog.

This bulldog queen is looking for someone who will love her for exactly who she is. She isn’t perfect but none of us are. We all deserve to find our own little tribe who love and accept us…dogs are no exception.

Stormy….has been returned. For me, this is the worst part. Stormy knew what it was to be loved, to sleep on a couch, play with toys, be adored by his family and then it was all gone.

We sat there waiting for his human to fill out the surrender paperwork, his hind legs quivering, he glanced nervously around unsure of what was happening next. I stroked his face and through my tears told him what a good boy he was and that he did nothing wrong. He licked my nose softly as I cried for all that he had lost….and how he had been failed. Stormy, like all dogs, had no choice as to which home he was placed in….we make that decision for them and this was the result. He did not get the happily ever after we promised him.

For every single dog that gets returned my heart breaks. I mourn the loss of the love they had and lost, and wish desperately I could keep every single one and give them the perfect life.

We asked for this family to foster Stormy until he found a new home…they would not. So I walked him through our yard of very loud dogs to the outdoor/indoor run that he would call home until a new family fell in love with a sweet medium size black dog (this could take a while). His body was tense with fear, his hair stood up on his back and his back legs trembled. My husband gently scooped him up and carried him into the dog barn….holding him close until he stopped trembling. This would be home until we could find for him what so many are still looking for.

Stormy is amazing. He is good with dogs, kids and we will cat test him soon. This boy was returned for chewing (he’s a one year old puppy) and now will carry this trauma with him.

Rescues are tired. Our souls ache from how much we love these beautiful souls and how much pain and neglect we see. I hope to one day live in a world that loves animals in the same unconditional way they love us.

Myrtle has been working with a really sweet trainer! She is sooooo good on a leash, redirects with little effort when another dog is present and is ready to find her own furever home where she can be the Queen! ❤️😍 We really are hoping someone is searching for a short little princess and wants to spoil her forever! ❤️🏡🐶

❌ CLOSED FOR INTAKES ❌

We are composed of a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs, families and responsibilities outside of this little rescue. Everyday we struggle to find balance, to spend time with our kids, our dogs, the rescue dogs, answer emails, texts, do paperwork and hopefully sleep and eat somewhere in there.
We all work very hard to place dogs in amazing forever homes, and sometimes we fail at identifying a good fit. Lately, it has been extra hard - we have had soooooo many dogs returned. Some that have been adopted for a year or more. 😞 Not only is this horribly hard on these dogs, it also makes it impossible for us to help anymore critters. We have a very small setup, 3 indoor/outdoor (temperature controlled) dog runs and everyone else is in foster homes. We also don’t have unlimited foster homes….there are a handful of amazing humans who open their homes to these dogs and they are always full as our first choice is always a home (not a dog run).

Right now we are closed to intakes. We are struggling to make room for the returned dogs, so we have no room for the dog you no longer want or sadly a death row dog that did nothing to deserve to die. 😭 We are at a standstill until we can adopt out these amazing dogs we have - and they are seriously amazing! Adoptions have been down, returns have been up and our volunteers are feeling discouraged and heartbroken for these amazing dogs.

He is good with other dogs, doesn’t care much about cats and would do better with older kids (he gets scared easily - previously abused 😭). Sometimes we get dogs with the BEST personalities and Rocky is one of those….he has a big bark and is a big boy…but don’t let that scare you off.…he is all puppy and wants more then anything to be loved! He is good with dogs, cats, scared of farm animals 😂 (also scared of anything new and tried to run from the dog door 😂🥹) and LOVES kids - although he doesn’t know he’s 90lbs so bigger kids would be better 😂 This big goof is looking for a home who will teach him how to be the best boy….he loves treats and wants to learn! We had lots of great people offer to help with Harper the Golden Retriever❤️ We have found a lovely foster home for her, but we have lots of other wonderful deserving dogs that still don't have foster homes😒 Our small kennel facilities While nice, and the dogs get daily love and attention, are better than the shelters that will kill them needlessly, they are not homes. We strive to give these dogs that have such a hard time in the beginning the best lives possible ❤️ Foster families help us do that to the best of our ability!
