If you’ve never had Raw Goat kefir cream cheese - you just don’t know what you’re missing out on! Kefir, as many may know, is a probiotic-rich fermented milk, which created a perfect blend of mesophelic & thermophilic cultures. It takes 3-5 days to make it - but the health benefits are just amazing, compared to the commercial store bought stuff that uses citric acid & pasteurized cows milk!

🧐🥛😝HOT OFF THE PRESS: WHY IT'S IMPORTANT FOR RAW MILK DAIRIES TO AVOID GLYPHOSATE (ROUND UP) - Livestock exposed to glyphosate in feed or as bedding are more likely to have serious animal health disorders causing loss of production. Glyphosate is a strong mineral chelator that binds tightly to essential minerals to render them non-functional physiologically. Exposure of crops and livestock to glyphosate can intensify mineral deficiencies of Ca, Cu, Co, Fe, Mg, Mn, Ni, and Zn. Besides interfering with mineral nutrition, glyphosate has antibiotic properties that disrupt the gut microbiome. Glyphosate suppresses beneficial microorganisms and promotes the growth of pathogens.
THANKS to Stockman Grass Farmer for helping us spread the word!

We run a nonprofit ranch in Eagle, ID and several months over the course of the year - we teach veteran families self sufficiency homesteading skills - this includes processing various livestock from the farm!
Well…. it’s that time of year again, to thin out the flock!
We will be taking in any unwanted hens, rosters🐓(male chickens) AND drakes 🦆(male ducks) the 23-25th of this month (Aug)!
Must be at least 12wks old …and unfortunately we are unable to take in pets (boutique breeds), due to their small size.
We possibly will do another round up again, the last weekend in September or October. So, if you need a proper place to donate any of your unwanted flock - know that they will be culled and/or donated to a veteran family, and serving a great cause!

Goodmorning from the flock on Dunshire Ranch!

Our Sourdough Sandwich Breads 🍞 turned out amazing today! We aren’t at farmers market to sell this week due to extreme heat 🥵 - but know we will be back to market soon …as long as the temps “chill 🥶 out” here in Eagle!
We have quail 🪺 & 🐓eggs🥚 Freeze dried milk 🥛and vinegars. We don’t have much fresh milk or fresh 🐐 🧀 right now due to an injury sustained by one of our milk does. It caused a decrease in milk production…but we do have a variety of other aged goat cheeses available - Please see pic in post!
Our small farm is called - we have a nonprofit mission, to teach self sufficiency farm to table skills to veteran families. Food costs are skyrocketing - it helps to know how to sustain a garden and livestock to help get you by …when all other sources of food systems, fail!
We may soon be opening up a unique Homestead after school (& morning classes for homeschool) program this year …to teach more of these valuable skills to our next generation - watch for class announcement, schedule & enrollment details coming soon!
Please know - Everything purchased goes back to helping support the ranch and livestock - every dollar you gives helps!! We deeply appreciate your support! :)
PM us and let us know how we can help!

Dunshire Ranch had been selling our farm to table foods at Eagle Saturday Market - it has just been epic this year! We love our Old Army Ammo trailer - turned into a covered chuck wagon! Today was Amazing - all the varieties of farm fresh eggs, herbal tea, our large selection of raw goat cheeses, yogurt dips and cups, sourdough granola, sourdough crackers, Squints Nuts, Apple cider & kombucha vinegars, our lemon curd, Feisty sourdough foccacia rings and rustic Italian sourdough breads are always a hit too! We even have some beautiful Picnic Boxes left - please let us know if interested! It’s the best farm fresh food you can buy for a 4th of July picnics…costs less than a date night at a restaurant and way better for ya than fair or fast food!! Truly appreciate everyone coming out to support our efforts & donating to the American veterans families we serve! We truly love what we do and the love we are able to bring to the community! Thank you ALL for loving us & your ongoing patronage too! Happy Independence Day from Dunshire Ranch!

Thank you to all who donated Roos and chickens this month to Dunshire Ranch. There were almost 60 🐓 processed and culled this weekend! We had to enlist the help of others just to get it all done! Your donation will serve veteran families who come through our program! We are so grateful for the generous support! 🇺🇸 #dunshireranch #selfsufficientliving #veteranshelpingveterans #cullingchickens #homesteadlife #farmlife #ranchlife
Sharing a bit about what we’ve been up to lately - summer fun on Da Gautney Clan homestead! #dunshireranch #dagautneyclan #homesteadlife #ranchlife
Put up 8qts of carrots yesterday and made a whole lotta summer coleslaw! Canned Carrot recipe: Take a few lbs of washed, peeled and cut carrots (1-2in thick). Boil in water, salt, ACV, cinnamon sticks, and brown sugar. Then add Walla Walla sweet onions and pickling spice. Hot Pack into hot jars and water bath can them for 10min. This is a low acidity veggie so the ACV & salt helps ensure there’s no bacteria - also makes them taste great! Summer Coleslaw Recipe: Add all veggies to a big bowl - half a green and half a purple cabbage (chopped) - add 1/4c salt. Then add 1 WallaWalla sweet onion (peeled & diced), 3 large carrots (peeled & shredded), 1 English size cucumber (shredded), 1 (de-seeded & chopped) jalapeño pepper (optional). Mix up 2c any kind of Mayo, 1/4 c ACV, 1/4c sugar, 2/3c (or small jar) of pickle relish and a lot of black pepper. Mix it up then Pour and Mix into slaw. Put it in the fridge for half an hour then serve chilled! It keeps for maybe a week or so in the fridge - but I’m not really sure because we end up eating it so fast! #dunshireranch #gautneygrublove #dagautneyclanhomestead #coleslawrecipe #cannedcarrots
Papaya is more tropical and not really native to North America but great for people & livestock! It’s antiparisitic and helps with digestion - even the seeds do miracles! We split this one with our goats and chickens today…sometimes they are smaller sized…these Chico papaya grown in Mexico are just huge! #naturalmedicine #papaya #dunshireranch #folkloremarket #dagautneyclanhomestead #gautneygrublove
Just wanted to catch everyone up on Dunshire ranch and our homesteading Ranch life. Our Aussie girl (Piper) had a litter of puppies on May 11th! They are patriot pups - 8wks old as of July 4th! We have 5 left to find new homes for! Please share and visit us on our family website at dagautneyclan.com to see and learn more! You can also find them on the AKC Marketplace or zidaho.com
Sharing my first Goat Jack cheese - process and outcome. Super proud of it! This is what you get when you take the time to use what you produce on a ranch! In two days I will be rubbing it down with a Greek olive oil, cocoa, ground espresso, and red/black pepper tomorrow and a few times over the next week to get a nice crust! Then it’s vacuum sealed, dated and into the cooler to age - Looking forward to tasting it in Oct/Nov! note: the pink is from salt - I used sea salt from Corazon. -#goatmilkcheese #JackCheese #goatmilkproducts #dunshireranch #gautneygrublove #dagautneyclanhomestead
