Teddy’s Christmas wish wasn’t answered 🎄💔 but we are only focusing on the future and what 2025 will bring 🎊🙏🏻🥰

Although being EXTREMELY adorable, fun loving and sweet, TEDDY has had NOT ONE application nor inquiry. 😥

He has been in training for over a month and is doing fabulous. He is working on getting his Good Canine Citizenship certificate. We are hoping that he will be ready to go to an adoptive home soon.

TEDDY is high energy but can be a cuddle bug too. He loves to chase balls and play with stuffies. He loves to learn. He can sit, down/stay, heal, come when called, and loose leash walk. He is learning patience and to wait for commands.

PLEASE let's find him his FOREVER home.

Courtesy post for 1 of the 35 PG dogs we thought was safe but now adopter backed out :( PG only lists dogs as urgent on euthanasia ONCE and if by some miracle they make it past euthanasia date which Dino did because of the pending application they can be put to sleep at any time.

OH NO!!! Dino was left behind! He was on the urgent list of 12/18 with 34 other dogs and they had a deadline of 12/24. Well, Dino’s applicant withdrew. And that’s honestly better than getting a dog home and realizing you’re not ready for a 15 year commitment. But every other dog on the list was saved and people were cheering for the seemingly Christmas miracle but….Dino is still waiting. 😩 Maybe we can work on a miracle by New Year’s Eve!

Dino is young and playful and did great meeting not one, not two, but three other dogs! He’s as worthy as every other dog that was saved. As a bonus, in addition to his solid temperament he has phenomenal ears and gets an A+ for his sploots. Please share him far and wide. He can only be adopted outside of PG because of…you know, that asinine almost 28 year old law called BSL.

Please call the shelter at 301-780-7200 to check availability of animals. Shelter hours are Tuesday through Friday: 10-6 and Saturday: 10-4. Please arrive an hour before closing so you have time to meet the animals and apply. They are closed Sunday and Monday.

Two female Spanish cane corsos in immediate need of rehoming, no fault of their own. These 4 year old girls are spayed, microchipped, and have papers. They are not bonded and it would best to separate them. Chica, is tan and would most likely do well with other dogs. Mia is brindle and should be rehomed by herself without other animals. Neither have lived with children.

The Forgotten Dog's Christmas Poem

Twas the night before Christmas when all thru the house,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.
The children all nestled snug in their beds,
With no thought of the dog filling their head.
And mom in her kerchief and I in my cap,
Knew the dog was cold but didn’t care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus with his eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog once so lively and quick,
Last year’s Christmas present now painfully sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dog’s name,
And the dog ran to him despite all his pain.
Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and V***n,
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen.
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall,
Let’s find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa had made one thing quite clear.
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift,
There was one important thing we missed.
A dog should be family and cared for the same,
You don’t give a gift, then put it on a chain.

Teddy is still looking for his forever home. This boy is such a sweetheart. He is 2-3 yr old Pittie mix.

Teddy has been spending the last few months in training. He is thriving and has been a great student. He has mastered loose leash, stay, heel along with better manners 🥳

He can be around other dogs however we believe he will do best as only pet.

He is fully vetted and will be ready for a home in January. Let’s make 2025 the start of his best life ever.
