Midnight, Ravyn, Rowan, and Sashimi were transferred to a private foster yesterday, where they'll stay until she succeeds in getting them adopted!

If you see their sweet faces pop up in adoption groups, please know that Jen has our blessing and love for taking these 4 into her home and tending to them until they find their furrever homes.

Today is a heavy day for KACR. We say goodbye to one of the hardest cases we've ever had...

One of the first rescues ever made was Calvin. Originally labeled as a girl, rescued from a Facebook post by people who'd shaved him in the dead of winter, and returned twice by people who didn't appreciate the gravity of what it means when you make a medical adoption...

Calvin lived in shelter for almost 2 years, until he had a sharp decline in health and was pulled as a hospice foster by KACR's Director of Operations.

What we thought would be a few weeks or a couple months placement, turned into the better part of a year! He flourished in a home that could cater to his medical needs, gaining an appetite and weight to go with it.

In the last few weeks, though, his advanced age and health problems started catching up with him, and significantly reducing his quality of life.

Regardless, he persevered. He still played when he could, ate when and what he could, and snuggled his (foster) parents daily.

He lived a lifetime of love in 8 short months in a home, and left a permanent mark on everyone who met him.

Fly high to the next world, Calvin. You'll be missed, good boy.

Ravyn and Rowan are a bonded pair of 11 month old kittens, who love to play!

Ravyn's favorite game is "parrot" - she'll eagerly jump into your arms, and stretch out across your shoulders, or just as eagerly be carried around on your hip like a baby. She eagerly kisses anyone who she receives attention from, and purrs like a locomotive.

Rowan's favorite game is "catch the toy" - especially with teaser/string toys, or balls that make noises. She even gives kisses when asked by touching her nose to yours!

Ravyn is much more of a lap cat, versus Rowan's gogogo playful personality, but Rowan has her moments where she'll lay at your feet or creep up near you and sploot for a rest while her catteries recharge.

6 reasons why your cat should be INDOOR ONLY

1) They live longer. On average, indoor cats live up to 15 years longer than those who have free access to roam outside.

2) It won't be stolen. Theft of pet cats has increased 40% since 2022 and has quadrupled since 2015.

3) Road accidents are prevented. Cats have the equivalent mental age of a 2yo human toddler and aren't streetwise. Motor Vehicles are responsible for the deaths of 630 cats - every day.

4) It won't go missing. Around 100,000 cats go missing each year with only 34% found alive within 7 days. Don't leave your cat the option, either by straying, or getting stuck in sheds and vehicles.

5) Indoor cats are healthier! Vet bills are saved for treatment of contagious diseases, parasites and abscesses from fights with other animals, or broken bones from car accidents.

6) Local wildlife is preserved. Keeping domestic cats indoors is crucial to protecting the environment and natural ecosystem. Research shows an average cat kills more than 100 birds, reptiles and mammals each year.

Miss Midnight is patiently awaiting a furrever home!

Sweet, sensitive, and kind, Midnight has made fantastic progress with her anxiety with regard to other cats - other cats make her a bit nervous, which makes her hide her beautiful face away. She'd need a slow integration process, but no longer is classified as an only-cat candidate.

Midnight also has a fantastic secret! Her eyes turn from a warm golden amber brown, to a soft watercolor green, when she's happy!

Memphis has been spending time with Ravyn, Rowan, and the gang, and it's UNLOCKED his personality!

He's playing, running around, and climbing with the other cats - following their examples on engagement and interaction, including how to play with dangle toys, laser pointers, and humans!

His brother Jerry watches from his favorite spot in the Big Kid room, with a mix of curiosity and lack of interest... 😂

Memphis and Jerry, through no fault of their own, have come back to KACR.

Their owner had a family emergency that blossomed into a long-term situation which requires moving out of state for an indeterminate length of time.

These beautiful flame-point Siamese brothers can be quite sweet, but they do have an overwhelming sense of anxiety when it comes to socialization.

We would love to see these boys go to a long-term fostering situation, or be adopted by someone who has the time and patience to allow them to blossom into amazing souls.

Michael has been one of our toughest cases at Kitten Around Cat Rescue.

He's been with us since he was a baby, and has become one of our shyest, most scared, hide-away kitties...

Until something changed.

Now, he's curious, cautious, and actively starting to seek interaction and play.

Sheldon is timid, but warming up more every day - he loves catnip, treats, and laser pointer chasing.

Nigel and Lily are a bit shy, but highly food motivated and happy to help absorb any sunshine invading your windows!

Ravyn and Rowan are waiting for their furrever home - and wanted to display their goofy sides to showcase how playful and fun they can be! Here you can see them playing vampire (and snack), but they also like to play with mousie toys, laser pointers, and jingle balls.
