Peyton passed away in our shelter last night...😘
He came to us just yesterday, a weary soul found in a barn. Fourteen years old, underweight, half an ear missing, and struggling to breathe. His microchip, dating back to 2009, was a silent witness to a life that once was – a life that had somewhere turned bleak and lonely...
In his final hours, Peyton experienced moments of love and care that had been missing for so long. We cleaned his crusted nose, combed out his matts, and he purred, basking in the affection he so deserved. He clung to our warmth, his body going limp with trust and perhaps, relief...
This morning, we found him gone, his struggle quietly ended in the comfort of a soft blanket and a full belly. His departure is a profound reminder of the countless animals who face similar fates, animals whose stories go untold, whose lives end without a whisper...
Peyton's story is a glimpse into the harsh realities faced by many animals. It's a testament to the resilience and enduring hope they possess, even in the face of neglect and abandonment. It underscores the vital role shelters play – not just as a place of refuge, but as a final sanctuary where love and care are given, even if just for a moment...
As we mourn Peyton, let's remember the countless others like him. Each day, shelters across the country are filled with animals waiting for a second chance, for a family, for a home. They wait for someone to notice them, to care, to extend a hand of kindness...
Peyton's story is not just about loss; it's about awareness, compassion, and the bitter-sweet role shelters play in the lives of animals. In sharing his story, we hope to shed light on the unseen struggles and to inspire a community of care and support for these innocent lives...
Rest in peace, Peyton. In your final hours, you were surrounded by love, and your story will not be forgotten. ..

Always neuter and spay your animals - overpopulation is a huge problem οΏΌ!!

Always neuter and spay your animals - overpopulation is a huge problem οΏΌ!!

Today alone I've had 5 calls from different people wanting me to take their mum cat cos THEY cannot cope.
Each call resulted in the cat has had multiple litters ... they can "get rid" of the kittens ... or " they are easy to sell" but they cannot " get rid" of mum...

BEFORE YOU GET OFFENDED when someone suggests you neuter your cat please read this.

1. When a cat becomes pregnant, it is not through choice. There is no romantic liason.... it literally is the equivalent of sexual assault.
The male cats p***s is barbed and causes excruciating pain for the female.

2. Every rescue is dependant on volunteers. Volunteers who lose family time, money, sleep, weekends and evenings caring for and fundraising to ensure unwanted cats get the correct care.

3.Animals have no voice.. So when somebody speaks on their behalf stop getting upset.

4.Uneutered Male cats will wander in search of females. They will fight ferociously and cause terrible injury to other males in the process causing sepsis. And dreadful life threatening diseases.

5. Every litter of kittens born in your home and sold adds to the problem by stopping a rescue cat being adopted.

6. Rescues are full to capacity with cats which have been bought on a whim of Facebook and surrendered or abandoned due to boredom or Inability to afford vet bills, Neuter, Vaccs, Food, Flea and worm treatment

7. Each rescue has a waiting list. They spend literally thousands of pounds a year on vet treatment. Food, litter. Flea and worm treatment, Electricity, Petrol. These are just the basics.

8. Behind the scenes volunteers nurse, clean out several times a day. Fundraise constantly. Worry about cats who have been surrendered and are traumatised by being torn from its surroundings and carry the guilt of the decisions they have to make.

9. Rescues have volunteers who drive for miles . Trapping stray cats, picking up unwanted cats and spend hours on the phone trying to find spaces and homes for unwanted pets.

10. Volunteers spend their free time and energy picking up the pieces from people who allow cats to have kittens and refuse to neuter.

Please don’t be offended when someone asks are you getting your cat neutered - rescues see the consequences of these actions every day 365 days a year and are simply giving a voice to the vulnerable creatures so casually given away or sold for gain.

We named her Shirley because surely someone should have loved her and surely someone should have fed her and surely humanity isn't this cruel. Shirley arrived last night skin and bones. Poor little girl is still so sweet despite her neglect. She was an owner surrender and we can only imagine her life before rescue. She is about 20 pounds but should probably be about 30 pounds. She is dog friendly. Hasn't been tested with cats but might be fine. She needs a caring foster or better yet a loving home with lots of treats and a soft couch.

Hi there! Let me introduce myself, I’m Tanner. I was being held in an outdoor kennel and luckily I was pulled just before the cold and snow came. I am about 1 1/2-2 yrs old and they say I am a hound/ lab mix. I will be about 45lbs once I gain some weight, I am pretty skinny right now. I am a very sweet and gentle soul. I love people and dogs. I am just learning what it is like to live inside and I really like it much better. I am learning my basic commands and so far my foster says I am doing great with house training. If you would like to show me what it is like to be loved by my own family I would love to meet you. Oh and I have the softest fur!! I am with a local foster and can be found with .
