Espophageal obstruction, or “choke,” is a common equine emergency but can look alarming, especially if you've never seen it before. Unlike in human medicine, where choking refers to a tracheal (or windpipe) obstruction, choke in horses refers to an obstruction of the esophagus, the muscular tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach.

Most commonly, choking occurs when horses eat concentrated feed too quickly without chewing it appropriately, which results in a firm bolus lodged in the animal's esophagus. However, esophageal obstruction can also occur with hay or straw, hard treats, carrots, or nonfood objects. Poor dentition, which leads to inadequate chewing, is also a frequent cause of choke.

While common, chokes can have serious consequences so be sure to call your veterinarian as soon as you notice signs of choke. A bad choke is fairly obvious to both veterinarians and horse owners, but a mild choke could be confused with an upper respiratory tract infection or colic.

1st is the video of when I first bought the store. This is what I paid over $16,500.00 for...

Picture: is the now after 10 months & a complete remodel.

Last video is the buildings we also now carry as an expansion to the store!

Original store upon purchase was 120 sq ft with a 120 sq ft office... and 150 sq ft of feed room.

Now the store is 576 sq ft with a one acre building lot selection and 650 sq ft of feed room...

Original store before purchase averaged under $46,000 a year in sales..

Now the store has more than doubled that & is looking forward to hopefully reaching our goal of $140,000 in sales by the years end.

Now mind you we are a small family owned business. And yes that number looks big but we do not pocket that money. Over 80% goes back into the store pays for bills, employees etc... However we are extremely proud of the growth & look forward to continuing to grow & support the local community in the process!

We thank each & every person who has helped us get here & made this possible. Every customer who walks in, makes a purchase & goes out & spreads the good words about us THANK YOU! Each of you have a part in making it all possible... Thank you for shopping small, local & family owned!
