ECCHA was absolutely thrilled to welcome handlers from Dogs Playing For Life in the last 2 days to teach us about running safe and effective playgroups at the shelter!
Playgroups are wonderful way to bring down stress levels in a shelter environment by providing exercise as well as allowing dogs to exhibit normal behavior. It also assists in building confidence for some of our shyer friends, and teaches puppies appropriate play with other dogs. It is a great tool for us to be able to tell how dogs do with one another and set them up for success in their future adoptive home!
We were excited to invite some friends from other shelters - Chippewa Humane, Cequamegon Humane, and Washington Humane - to join us yesterday to learn how to incorporate playgroup into everyday activity.
Adoptable Siren has been out playgroup rockstar the last two days - she has done excellent with all pets she has met. This high-energy girl is tuckered out!
