Color genetics post : There's only one gene in their genotypes that's different. Remember the 5 basic loci: ABCDE. On the "C" locus we have 5 alleles: 1st one is "C". 2nd is "cchd". 3rd is "cchl". 4th is "ch". 5th is "c". (The big C and little c are very different!)
The gray bunny is cchl. The orange one is C. Other than that, they are the same except for the second alleles on each locus they are carrying.
Gray is called Sable Magpie: aaB_cchl_Ddeje
Orange is called Harlequin: aaB_C_Ddeje
ej makes the stripes and spots. e is from their mom who is ee so I know they both carry e. Sire is dd so I know they both carry d. Both parents are aa, which is the most recessive so they are both aa.

Another color genetics post 😊. There are 5 "place holders" or "locations" called locus/loci for the main colors. Each location has two or more versions of a gene, called alleles. The 5 loci are ABCDE. (Yes, they actually are the first 5 letters of the alphabet 🤷🏻♀️😆.) I put father and son together for a very basic lesson. ONLY the last loci, "E" is different on these rabbits! One letter can change everything. The baby is ABCDE. The father is ABCDe. The allele options on the "E" locus are "Es", "E", "ej", "e". If these bunnies were "ej" they would have stripes or spots. If they were "Es" they would have a gold or silver tipping on their fur (not as pretty as it sounds 😆).

Peaches is a fabulous brood doe. She's so sweet, always loves attention whether not pregnant, pregnant, or with a nest full of babies. Her fur is super soft and shiny, like velvet. She's currently my biggest mpl girl! She has a nice round booty with wide, straight hips, and plenty of room in her midsection to carry kits comfortably. There's no perfect rabbit. She doesn't have perfectly ideal conformation and I'd love her bone to be a bit thicker but she's great at what she does and is a happy, healthy girl. She's produced ESA bunnies for lovely families.
